Anyone have ~40 dark grey 2x2 tiles they'd like to sell? That's the only part to that drat tank I can't get off Bricklink. Even if I bought all the ones out of the states, I'd still only get about halfway to the amount I need.

Piece variation is something you need to be extra careful about, especially if you're designing with LDraw/MLCAD and you choose one of the variants randomly. You'll end up uploading the piece list to Bricklink and then asking yourself: "Come on, how come nobody has this 1x1 with clip?" until you notice it's the 70's-80's version, discontinued and hard to find. If a piece doesn't appear, you'd rather browse for it in the BL categories.

The trick is to switch to 'Category Summary' and select 'Tile' rather than the 'Tile, decorated' which is where most of the 10 billion 2x2 tiles are That narrows it to 2x2 tile, 2x2 tile with groove and 2x2 tile without groove (3068, 3068b and 3068a respectively)

Ok kinda made another model without much effort. This seems to be getting easier, or maybe it's because I took some ideas from here? Not sure if I want to make the back end of the ship a bit fatter. Also not sure if it's even the same scale as the other stuff I'm doing. EDIT: Couldn't help myself and added a bit more length plus some internal structure improvements you cant see. I think I might have to order the pieces for this one lol. Ingram fucked around with this message at 16:48 on Jan 6, 2012 |

Also, my plane was feeling lonely, so i started working on a dragster/racecar to go with it. I'd like some feedback on it and the plane. the people i have on skype and MSN and such are not really a large enough group to get decent feedback from and Legoons seem to now there poo poo. so please?

Nice touch on the front end with the binoculars! Also my models I build with real pieces and then translate into LDD. Usually I don't have the right colours or enough pieces to finish them fully so I do as much as I can for real then finish it off in LDD.

Slight update on the front-end. the lampholders on the side are what the main body of the car rests on so it shouldn't sag if you wee to build it. so it has a bit more playability. And it allowed me to add a license plate! and a drivetrain

I thought the fisherman was soemwhat rare and read speculation that he was more expensive to make because of the parts or something. Maybe people voting who need to fill a gap in their collection. This, of course, maybe complete fiction. He was actually the first random figure I got. Long since lost to the ravages of couch, vacuum cleaner and/or three year old.

I've never been good at building things with LEGO (other materials, yes, but not LEGO). I wind up just building whatever I have the plans for, but rarely anything I come up with in my head. I just suck at translating the idea to something physical. However, I've always been fascinated with the minifigures. I always tend to pick those up, and I try to make each figure as unique as I can. After looking over bricklink, there's a lot of heads and torsos I want to pick up. Then again, that's if I don't wind up spending the cash on the dinosaur lego sets. Regardless, I thought I'd share a few of the minifigures that I've made which I enjoy the most. They aren't as hard to make as everything else people post here since it's really just matching up the body pieces with the different heads and such, but I enjoy it. In addition to Indiana Jones, Darth Vader, SLJ and Travolta from Plup Fiction, Batman, and all of the other random minifigures, I've tried to populate my LEGO with other ones that interest me. Please excuse the use of the one pirate raft. The few figures I just finished and I'm happiest about, The Ghostbusters: Egon and Peter: http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j69/SublimeDelusions/LEGO/DSCF2364.jpg Ray and a shot of the pack: http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j69/SublimeDelusions/LEGO/DSCF2362.jpg http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j69/SublimeDelusions/LEGO/DSCF2363.jpg Winston and the Trap: http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j69/SublimeDelusions/LEGO/DSCF2365.jpg I knew the ghost from the old Castle set would come in handy! http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j69/SublimeDelusions/LEGO/DSCF2361.jpg I know that they have been done before, but I wanted to give it a shot. They weren't that hard. The decals for the torsos and the trap came from a guy selling them on eBay. The proton packs and goggles came from brickforge, I think. I added the hoses with simple embroidery thread and glue. The faces weren't hard. Egon and Winston were the easiest as there aren't a lot of black faces (non-basketball faces), or faces with glasses. Ray and Peter were the trickiest to come up with as I wanted to try and get a face that captured the character for me. All in all, I'm pretty happy with how they turned out. I may still pick up one of the newer brown hair pieces for Peter. Since I built the trap, I may as well share my plans for that one. It was a simple black 2x1 tile topped by a 1x1 black tile and a 1x1 black tile with a horizontal clip. Then I used one of those black fire-extinguisher top things in the clip and a 2x1 flat black tile to top it all. I added the embroidery thread on top of the bottom tile and secured it with the two 1x1 tiles. Then I added decals. The pedal for the trap is a simple 3 stud L-shaped tile. I used another 1x1 tile capped with a clear round stud. I secured the embroidery thread under the light grey grate tile for the pedal. I'd like to try and build the Ecto-1, but I'm not too sure if I can pull it off, and I'd want it in scale with these guys and able to fit them. But that's a different plan for another time that I will probably need help with to get it off the ground. SublimeDelusions fucked around with this message at 04:10 on Jan 7, 2012 |

Well, that tank was a LOT more expensive than I thought it would be. The last few parts ended up being fairly expensive and I didn't even get all of them in the colors I wanted and I may never get the flex tube at all. Might have to improvise there. [edit] OH drat IT, more of the "this part isn't what you think it is." In for a penny, in for a pound, I guess. ~855 parts. drat. Today I was inspired by this thread to brake out the rubbermaid tub with all my Lego from 1996-1998 in it. gently caress me, it's mixed in with a bunch of lovely old Tyco bricks. I've got 90% of the UFO and Insectoid themes in there, in addition to an Explorien Starship and that big RoboForce mech with the big trans neon green canopy. It took me two hours to dig out half the parts for this little bastard right here: Now my hands are all hosed up and I still don't have all the bits I need to finish it. Ow. It's cool though cause I found a bunch of minifigs and a little motor-tricycle that I probably stole from school, awesome!
