For Epic Touch Users: If you set your brightness to manual (Home->Menu->Settings->Display) and move the slider all the way to the left(lowest brightness), does your screen have a purplish-tint? (It's noticeable especially in the notification bar and the menu buttons of the built in browser, if the browser has the default brightness settings) I know mine does, and it has an unusual vibrating bands looking effect in the whitest areas (like the Google homepage, or the background of a post on the awful app.) I was thinking it might be a screen defect issue, but out of 4 Epic Touches that I've tested, 2 exhibit the purplish effect, with the manual brightness set to lowest and 2 don't. If you have an Epic Touch and have a moment could you test to see if your's does too?

The trend here is that Samsung's GB devices are largely OK. The exception is the E4GT which had the loss of signal problem on release, although admittedly it manifested rarely outside of running custom kernels with weird config options enabld. The Entire Universe posted:Hell, does the GPS even work on the Galaxy Nexus? The Entire Universe posted:Samsung hardware has been pretty much synonymous with "no drat GPS if you have so much as a cloud in the way" for a long while now. Granted, Samsung should be drug over the coals for releasing the Epic GB update with a botched GPS daemon even thought they had a fixed one running on other devices for months, including the Sprint Tab. I'm not sure what to call that kind of incompetence. It's not really gross incompetence, because they clearly managed to get the GPS hardware working. It's just stupidity that they were unable to push the right fixes where they needed to go. The Entire Universe posted:I truly feel sorry for the people that live in a Comcast-only, Verizon-only area.

No, if you go to the network vision page sprint is turning both 850mhz and 1900mhz into LTE as well. So basically, LTE will at the very least be at the same coverage sprint currently has (eventually of course). Lightsquared would be nice to augment that, but it is not necessary.

I sure hope they roll that stuff out soon. I don't really want to go to Verizon but 3g speeds are so terrible I'm about to just pay my ETF and switch. Yesterday I did a speedtest on my phone and my work laptop with a T-Mobile internet stick. My phone had a full 3g signal, 6/6 bars on my Epic 4G Touch. WiiMax was not available. I got 101 kbps down on the phone, 4100+ kbps down on my T-Mobile "4g". Sure, WiiMax is faster but it's rare to have coverage in Jacksonville. I've done several speed tests over the past several months and I don't think I've ever seen over 300 kbps on 3g, it's awful.

Are the EPRP plans only for new customers, or can existing sprint customers get in on it? I'm planning on porting over my number from AT&T and I was looking at amazon's phone pricing (which would be significantly better than Sprint's) but I can't sign up for EPRP through amazon. Would I be able to order off amazon and change my plan to EPRP once I get the phone?

I've been running alpha7 for a day or so now and haven't had any problems. The call volume was a bit low but using Volume+ on +3 it's plenty loud. I also jumped from the included Trebuchet launcher to Nova Launcher which has been running perfectly. I pushed it to /system/app before installing it so be sure to do that if you try it, that seems to take care of a few issues that might crop up. The Widgetlocker guy is behind Nova Launcher and he responds to bug reports with fixes really quick. PREYING MANTITS fucked around with this message at 12:40 on Jan 9, 2012 |
