Helm's Deep has two that are in other sets (Aragorn in Weathertop and Gimli in Moria). Don't know how reliable the information I'm basing that on is though. If you get all sets you do get a shitload of orcs though. I count 15.

And if you think about it, Lego in any true Minecraft arrangement would be structurally completely unstable. It would be a bunch of bricks stacked directly on top of one another, with no interlocking to neighboring stacks. I'm curious how Lego is going to make this even slightly interesting, since what you described seems like a best-case scenario.

Rare Collectable posted:http://legocuusoo.posterous.com/minecraft-lego-cuusoo-project-passes-lego-rev-54968 This will be quite a challenge for the set designers I imagine. As has been said if they create anything like the worlds in the game they would be structurally weak and extremely parts intensive. Anecdotally all the Minecraft players I have known have had very little free money. I don't think getting 10,000 votes on the internet translates directly into huge sales. Reveal to us your master plan Lego.

It's an indie pc game that didn't have a marketing campaign where you build things, collect resources and fight monsters. There are 20,641,936 registered users. It is so popular that there was a convention in Las Vegas that sold out. About half those that attended were kids. I think that translates pretty drat well to sales opportunities for a series of LEGO sets.

The question isn't if there is a market for it, the question is will people actually buy it, especially when you can already get the equivalent of Minecraft. The only thing they'd have to change is make all the pieces 2x2 blocks.

I have a knee-jerk hatred for photos of Stormtrooper minifigures. It is so overdone and played-out. People take a nerd toy and take a photo of it doing something incongruous and wow, that's loving deep and whimsical and poo poo. Flickr and Tumblr both are absolutely stuffed to the gills with this kind of thing. In fact I made this graph a while back to express my possibly irrational hatred of this phenomenon: Incidentally don't bother following gently caress yeah lego castles, it's pretty much dead in the water.

I never got the idea that they were supposed to be "deep" or anything, I thought they were just kind of cute, though I will admit they are a little overdone, not gonna stop me from enjoying them though. edit: Okay looking at more of the pictures I can see where you might get that. The ones of just the action figure storm trooper like looking at a window are pretty stupid, but I still like the ones with the Lego trooper, cause he seems like a little toddler following around his dad Rabidsamba fucked around with this message at 01:34 on Jan 25, 2012 |

I saw one that was literally just a stormtrooper looking at a packet of Splenda. They always have those (number)/365 things on them too. It seems like this makes up half of all LEGO photography on the internet.

Supposedly, the Orc Forge set includes five minifigs. There is a huge picture of all the LOTR sets here. That album also has pictures of the contents of the Battle of Hoth boardgame-set. Also, the Moria set has a cave troll, not a Balrog.

That's a shame. EDIT: Since Minas Tirith and Mordor are nowhere to be seen in this line of sets, maybe they're saving them for later. Minas Tirith would make a great collector's edition set. I'm trying to do another MOC using the same color scheme as my first Vic Viper. I've never documented a build before, but I figured it could be something fun to share with the thread. Here's a look into the prototype stage: The wheelbase. My preliminary design for the windscreen and shell. (The part in front is only there to hold it together for now.) I'm thinking about making it two levels inside, with science lab and control room on top and bunks and toilet and kitchen underneath. You know how you think you have a lot of a certain color until you try to build something with it? Yeah. I have no idea how I'm going to wall up the sides and stay within my orange / dark blue / dark bley color scheme.
