Fifteen to One is pretty much the quiz show geek's quiz show. Lots of questions to answer and a total minimum of loving about - it spent less than half the time introducing 15 contestants than Pointless does with 4 pairs.

I want an anecdote-free quiz show, but Mastermind manages to be surprisingly easy in the general knowledge segments, and utterly dull in the specialist segments. University Challenge is still good for anecdote-free quizzery.

That's probably why it's not on. Every quiz show has to have a gimmick these days and make personalities out of the host by talking to the contestants too much.

Is it my imagination, or would the Holy Grail be a full, clean version of the original mix of that theme (and for the masters of the muzak remix to be burned and the ashes thrown into the sea), including the opening bit that always always always got talked over? Here's a clip that starts with the full opening. Dare you not to watch the rest of the show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKDTWGeikZs Of course it wouldn't be anything like the same without William G. Stewart, and he's about 77 and old now. And if it's pure quizzing you're after, there's always Brain of Britain on Radio 4...

Just saw a BUPA advert on 4od. It's got an 83 year old man talking about how he 'won a medal in the war' before returning home to his wife. So he lied about his age to get into the army and was married at 16?

It's nice to see a bit of a divergence from the usual routine format. Still not the BBC's best comedy by a long shot, but the best episode of this since the Christmas one. This is still the worst programme on television, but it's just so bad it's mesmerising. It has no redeeming qualities other than how bad it is. It's weird.

They should bring back Blockbusters, but I have no idea who should host it. Anyone who only cares about the contestants name and doesn't give a poo poo what they do, where they come from, or their favourite pets name.

The problem is that, at the moment, it's pitched as having adult contestants, which I think will keep the remake from the original's charm. The best part of the show was the relationship between the nervous/polite teenagers who had plans to study Geography at UEA and Kind Uncle Bob, who would probably never yell at anyone.

What was that one that used to be on BBC2 before Countdown/15-1 on C4? It had some youngish Scottish chap presenting. I always loved the smug look that would appear on a contestant's face when they got something like FNC and responded with the all conquering floccinaucinihilipilification.

Mickolution posted:How does it work? The Pointless game is actually very good; I played it with my family at Christmas. Basically no-one gets eliminated except one team before the final round; you get tokens for winning a round and getting a Pointless answer. Basically the question cards are massive and have all the answers on them but you put them in this sleeve so you can only see the question until it's time to check the answers. The rules are a bit poorly written but after the first game it's fairly simple. The questions aren't quite as rigorous as the TV show; there's no "accurate as of" date on the cards, and a couple of them are slightly out of date (a question about the eurozone which didn't include Estonia, for example).

There'll be some sneaky stuff going on behind the scenes which will all be revealed in the last five minutes, then Micky will do a big smile and they'll go for drinks and take the piss out of the Scouse barman. So how long before netflix UK is actually worth subscribing to? I have the free trial but to be honest the selection is absolutely abysmal compared to what people seem to have in the US, and I am not happy paying the same price for a tiny fraction of the service. My current plan is to cancel once the free trial runs down and re-sub in a few months/a year or so once the selection actually contains more than a few things I want to watch. Are they adding stuff at a decent pace?

The cards look like this: You have the answers covered up at the start, then when you check someone's answer you look if it's on the card and score it accordingly. You're supposed to do it "TV-style" by moving a token down the board but it's a bit poo poo. I don't know if they actually did the 100 people thing for the questions but it's not like they ever show them on TV or anything
