Oh, that's pretty lame if he did that because it does look really hard. He was probably just doing that to get as many people as possible to sign up.

The players with more knowledge will do the harder tricks obviously He also specifically said that "doing child dungeons would be a waste of time" and that "it's not a puzzle goal". Without other tricks you would need to get zelda's lullaby and saria's song to get strength in order to move the blocks in forest temple without RBA'ing gauntlets, which is a massive diversion. You'd also have to beat all the child dungeons to get song of time to move a SoT block unless you do a specific giant's knife clip which is normally never done in runs. Many people didn't know this til they got there and 'oh poo poo do I need song of time' was the FAQ of the race chat. My guess is the point of the goal was to laugh at people getting hosed up by Stalfos as they clod around and not to be fun or engaging for all but the best players. I don't really care because I don't take OoT seriously and it IS pretty entertaining to watch, but it was definitely misleading.

I finished 25th, just under the 3 hour mark. I did pretty decent I suppose, though a lot of it was because I was reading the chat where Jiano was posting some solutions. The red goo room, for example, was intended to be done using a bomb jump/damage boost which made it a lot easier. I also realized after doing the standard non-RBA opening that I probably should have set up RBA, essentially forcing me to restart 30 minutes or so into the race. It probably saved a little bit of time in the long run, though. More of that time was spent fumbling around using RBA trying to figure out why bombs wouldn't drop after I had RBA'd the bomb bag. The temple itself went okay though, only died to the Stalfos once. I was missing a key for a really long time but I got it eventually. I thought the goal was a lot of fun, but I can see how it would be very frustrating for people who don't play the game often. Some people did finish using all natural route, so that was a possibility that worked, though obviously the people who used RBA finished much faster than they did.

Got in the top 40 and I was a huge fan of the goal. I definitly consider it beginner friendly, because you could pretty much do anything to prepare for the forest temple. For example, I had 4 extra hearts (child dungeons and a few on the way) and two bottles, so the stalfos went down on the second try each time i fought them. As long as you didn't overestimate how well you can fight the stalfos, you would have had a fairly decent experience.

Here is a new TAS of Oracle of Seasons that just came out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSb8J3sghxo I'm surprised the Gameboy Zeldas aren't really speedrun that much, and hopefully this will help, the same authors are working on Ages too. I'm surprised it's more efficient to skip rings entirely, I would have guessed that manipulating a L-2 Power Ring would have been worth it. Speaking of Zelda TASes, keep your eyes peeled for SwordlessLink's OoT MST TAS coming up very soon... It's already completed and is just awaiting encoding and poo poo which apparently takes a long time with Mupen. The time is 2:04:45. SwordlessLink has been posting WIPs in the Zelda speedrunning IRC channel and they have all been really really cool to watch. edit: okay apparently it takes a really really long time to encode, we are looking at 1-2 weeks before it's done canoshiz fucked around with this message at 08:50 on Jan 27, 2012 |

Sig almost had the 70 star yesterday. I think he ad 50:17 only mistake is that on secret slide he missed the jump to the entrance. I was surprised he didn't rage quite though. He played for a few hours after that. Also, I never thought I would enjoy watching someone play mario64 so much, but I watch it daily. I just have to turn off chat because that poo poo is terrible.

drat, I was playing xbox at the time so I missed a bit. I just figured there was less mistakes because of how close the time was. Also thanks for the spreadsheet, it's pretty awesome. I think ad revenue is like .002 per person. So if he averages 1500, that is 3 bucks. Four ads an hour and he is making $12/hr to play mario64. Sweet life. The meme is because of the girl in the mario costume in his profile. People asked if that was him, and the guys in chat ran with it. http://www.twitch.tv/siglemic edit: http://www.dotallyrad.com/2011/08/twitch-tvs-partner-program-opens-up-time-to-make-six-figures-gaming-2/ That states between .002 and .005 I know the staff at twitch love sig, so I'm guessing he makes closer to the .005 per viewer.
