The Black Stones posted:So apparently a Shoujo manga called Sakamichi no Apollon is getting an anime adaptation in April in the noitaminA slot. Anyone here read/know anything about this manga? I own (and read) the first couple of volumes, but I can't seem to locate them at the moment to refresh myself on the finer parts of the plot. What I do remember is that the art style is gorgeous, the characters were really engaging, and it was set in the sixties or thereabouts. I also seem to remember something about a band, but I can't remember if it was regarding the three kids, or people they knew. That's probably not very helpful, but it's been a couple of years... Anyway, I remember liking it a lot and I'm glad that noitaminA seems to be heading back towards its roots a bit, instead of shoveling out more crap like that Guilty Crown and Black Rock Shooter.

No, it was helpful. That's good enough to get me interested in it and I will definitely check it out the anime when it airs. Thanks!

Mura posted:Hiyokoi got 2 new updates in the last few days. I'm hoping that this means the series is updating on a regular basis again. Thanks for posting this one, I just read the whole thing. I enjoyed it a lot, kinda reminded me of Kimi ni Todoke with better pacing. Hoping for more cute stuff in the future chapters.

I don't think I've seen it mentioned but I recently started reading Taiyou no Ie and quite like it. I'm pretty bad at objectively rating series but vv, I think it's pretty cute.

What chapter of Kimi ni Todoke does the 2nd season of the anime stop at?

New Tonari http://www.mangafox.com/manga/tonari_no_kaibutsu_kun/v06/c024/1.html This series is seriously great. Now it's only one volume behind the Japanese release I think.

Conduit for Sale! posted:What chapter of Kimi ni Todoke does the 2nd season of the anime stop at? 43 is pretty much the main point where it stops at. There's a few bits and pieces from chapters a bit after that one to help tie the season up, but 43's where the majority of the adaptation stops.

New Kimi ni Todoke looks like things are starting to move again. I really wish this was a weekly series, it really kills the pacing, having it monthly.

I'm kind of really not liking mys2scans translation all that much, not that it'll stop me from reading it. I'll be happier when mangoscans' version is done, even if they got weird about anyone actually putting their version up on any site that people might actually go to. Monthly is still better than Aoi Hana's bi-monthly releases, so it could always be worse! e: Yes! You go, Sawako! a kitten fucked around with this message at 03:29 on Jan 18, 2012 |

At least you don't still have to have 10 posts on Mangoscan's forums to be able to download anything. That was stupid as hell. e: bi-monthly? I didn't realize any Aoi Hana was getting released. The last one I read was the one where they get drunk I think.

About Aoi Hana: bi-monthly in the "every other month" sense, stupid ambiguous language. I almost forgot there was a hiatus from around April til October. Anyways, drunk at Christmas was chapter 38, it's up to chapter 42 now, with a couple chapters focused on Kyoko and Ko. a kitten fucked around with this message at 04:39 on Jan 18, 2012 |

Princess Jellyfish/Kuragehime is up in its entirety subbed on Funimation and Hulu, so now's a good time to check it out if you missed it before. It looks like they've got two episodes of the dub up too. Which I might check out at some point, but I'm not very hopeful about its quality. That dub trailer was really pretty awful. And in case you didn't see it check out this great cosplay that popped up over in PYF. e: Good god, how I love the OP. a kitten fucked around with this message at 21:59 on Jan 23, 2012 |

Everyone watch Kuragehime, it is absolutely one of my favorite shows of the past few years! The manga is even better, and I believe there are scanlated chapters up to volume 8 available. And yeah the dub trailer did not inspire confidence but I am willing to give it a chance.

7seeds is cool. Survival manga where cryogenicly frozen teens try and rebuild after an asteroid destroys all human life on earth. I'm only like 70 chapters in and it's really neat.

*puff* *puff* *puff* That's ridiculous. Has anyone picked up NIS's release of Kimi ni Todoke yet? I'd be curious to hear some reviews of the translation. My job situation is worrisome at the moment so I'm basically in save-every-penny mode right now just in case the place goes under before I can find something new, so buying movies is right out.

a kitten posted:*puff* *puff* *puff* I have it on order and I should be getting it very soon. If no one says anything by then I can post something. ANN reviewed it already and never mentioned any problems with them either. I own a couple of their releases (Katanagatari, Persona, and Toradora) and while I think they had some issues here and there with the early releases, Katanagatari was perfect except for the subs being somewhat small (which they fixed for Kimi Ni Todoke).

So, Poor Poor Lips volume 1, a yuri 4koma series, was just added to JManga. The character designs are pretty off-putting (mainly, Nako looks like a little kid), and its title makes it sound like a bad porno, but it's surprisingly not creepy in execution and actually pretty good. Plus, if it does well enough, it might mean actually seeing some more non-otakubait yuri series get brought over.
