Crossposted from the other Netflix IW thread: "The Little Girl Who Lives Down The Lane" is up now. If you like Jodie Foster at all (in an early role here as a mysterious adolescent girl with a secret, she's easily the best thing in the film and amazing talent evident even early on here) and Martin Sheen as a creepy pedophile, see this movie which I think is excellent.

Shaolin Soccer is up, an earlier effort from Stephen Chow of "Kung Fu Hustle" fame. Whimsical martial arts comedy, not quite as polished as "Hustle" but very entertaining.

I just saw it in the CD Netflix thread, but apparently Snuff Box is now available on instant watch. Definitely check it out if you've enjoyed stuff like That Mitchell and Webb Look, IT Crowd, Garth Merenghi's Darkplace, or The Mighty Boosh. It's kind of like if the BBC made a series like Tim and Eric Awesome Show except instead of Tim and Eric it was Matt Berry and Rich Fulcher.

Lilyhammer, a Netflix original tv show is up. Starring Steven Van Zandt playing a character very similar to Silvio in Sopranos. I just finished episode one and it wasn't too bad, a bit slow, drama with a bit of wry humor. If you're in the mood for a solid horror film, check out Atrocious, a Spanish film about two siblings that go to a vacation home with their parents. The house has a sort of hedgemaze/tree maze on the property that's chained off, the kids are inquisitive and recently heard a horror story about a ghost of a woman that'll lead those lost in the maze out so they go and check it out. They also film everything, so the whole film is from the view point of their camera, "home-movie" style. There's some great tension throughout but sometimes it's so dark it's impossible to see what the hell is going on but that's not too frequent.

I would like to recommend Last Night. The premise from the beginning is that the world is 6 hours from ending. You find this out at the start, everybody in the movie knows that it's coming, though the movie doesn't tell you why. While the movie isn't so much about that mystery as it is about the several different people it focuses on in their last hours, that tantalizing premise kept me rapt and had my insides tied up the whole time. Goin' 3.5 out of 5 stars here.

Given the current financial state of the world, two very interesting documentaries available are 'Born Rich' and 'The One Percent', both done by Jamie Johnson, heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune. Born Rich is a great insight into the lives of the young idle rich done through monologues by Jamie and interviews with his friends which include the Trump and Bloomberg daughters and the heirs to various American family dynasties. The One Percent is a look at the actual families and how and why they've accumulated so much wealth for themselves and whether it's right. You get footage from meetings the average person could never get into. They're both somewhat amateur but very interesting. I'm glad Netflix has them because after their initial screenings on HBO they were impossible to find for a while.

I remember being very young and convincing my mum to let me buy Death Rally on the basis it was all violence. Meanwhile when she saw me playing Killer Instinct on the N64 and she saw how the female characters were dressed she marched me right back to the shop to demand an exchange. I ended up with Mission Impossible which actually turned out to be a decently fun game.

I think Word Wars might still win the "most broken human beings" award, while Darkon and American Movie are tied for the most entertaining of the sub-genre. If you have any other recommendations in this category, I'd like to see them. I've watched so many that I'm starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel.

Been watching Workaholics. It is extremely derivative, but somehow manages to still be hilarious. The first episode Adam seemed like he was trying to be "O Face" guy from Office Space, but now he seems like he is stuck doing a bad Jack Black impersonation that is never going to end. Other than that, it is one of the funnier shows I've seen.
