Man I love OOTP. And OOTP dick waiving. Uggghhh my code expired because I wiped my computer twice (upgrading windows) so I have to wait for a new OOTP before I can play. I think. I can't remember if I still have a valid 9,10 or 11 code hanging around... *boots up OOTP8*

Jim Bottomley pretty much owns and broke the game for a little bit in the 1920, even hitting .444 in 1927. He hit over .400 two other times, and finished his career with a .373 average. I finally finished my sim as well, and it was a blast and I can't wait for OOTP '13 Hitting stuff:
As far as pitching goes: John Murphy(0.88 ERA in 1884), Al Spalding(55 wins in 1875), and Charlie Geggus(555 strikeouts in 1884) will never have their records fall, though as you'll see, several pitchers throughout the years bent the game over their knees:
The Atlanta Braves won 20 World Series in their history, the Chicago White Sox were 2nd with 14, and San Francisco had 13. The Yankees only had 6. The Tigers(1961) and Twins(1888 as the Washington Nationals) only have 1 championship. Armitage fucked around with this message at 15:57 on Feb 10, 2012 |

Ambiorix Burgos threw 318 IP with 950 strikeouts in 2009. This one's simming to 2020. More after it concludes. + Nevermind. It broke my game and I can't open other tabs in players cards. Just know that three players finished with more than 10,000 career strikeouts, including one with 21,000. ThatsMyBoye fucked around with this message at 00:31 on Feb 12, 2012 |

Do you have it set so their best year is their potential and it takes it from there, or the rise and decline is historical?

I had potential based on peak seasons, because I think it's more likely to create amazing poo poo that way.

Probably because under most circumstances, nobody has the same game twice. There are a few guys that constantly turn out to be super studs, but there's always a few real life superstars that end up busting out for one reason or another, and there's always a few nobodies that turn into Hall of Famers(*cough*Dan Warthen*cough*). Also, doesn't hurt to whet appetites for OOTp 13 Armitage fucked around with this message at 21:08 on Feb 12, 2012 |

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I'll start up a sim starting in 2011, and let it sim for a looooong time (once I ran it out to the year 2500), but few records will fall; like Bonds stays that season and career home run leader, Pete Rose stays hit leader, Nolan Ryan with strikeouts, etc. What am I doing wrong?

Nothing, however, in BBM you can go into league or simulation manager and adjust options.

If it is OOTP you are talking about, it's because the league averages for the steroid era are up and will fall post-steroid era. I'm not sure how you'd adjust them manually, but I'm sure it could be done.

I ran a simulation from 1901 to 2025. Alfredo Aceves had a year where he went 12-4, 214IP, 244K, 18BB, .80 ERA and had another season with an .82 ERA. McGwire had 970 homers, Richard Hidalgo ended with 890. Mussina ended with 429 wins, wow.

I wish I'd have saved the screenshot from several years ago when I was running a dynasty and through some weird glitch my hitter (Morrie Rath!) had like a .222 career average but nearly a .460 OBP because he drew like 200 walks a year. The very definition of Sabermetrics.
