Has anyone heard if they plan on doing another large AT-ST at some point? Both of the main sets they've released so far are ugly as poo poo.

I have a door that may or may not be bley. It may be just light grey. How do I tell the difference? Considering this means the difference between a $0.50 part and $30 part, it's kind of important I get it right.

I hate every single StarWars set that doesn't have a rerelease of Lando in the classic Cloud City suit. Lando-in-disguise is honestly just a nasty tease.

MaliciousOnion posted:Speaking of Australia, anyone know the best way to avoid the horrible in-store prices? Wait and pray for good sales. And compound discounts. E.G. Sometimes Myer will have 20% off Lego, and then another 10% (28% total) for Myer One members. And some Benefit Clubs/Entertainment Books will let you buy Myer gift cards for 5% off. So a $140 set would be reduced to $100.80 and you would buy it with a $100 gift card that cost you $95. Sometimes Fishpond, oo.com.au and other overstock sites sell below RRP, but you have to know what you're looking for and what the price point is. If anyone has other methods I'm interested too.

Big W churns through their stock a lot at slightly lower prices than usual, though it's a crapshoot as to what you'll actually get on the shelves.

http://rebrickable.com/mocs While not specific sets, it does have some fairly nice MOC's up there and if you put in what sets/bricks you have it will tell you if you have the parts to make it.

LEGO stickers get so frustrating for someone with shaky hands. But it was worth it to have my own LEGO X Wing fully decked out. I wouldn't say get this kit at full price, but it is an excellent kit, even after you get past the kickass fuselage and into the less interesting wings. I went to Toys R Us thinking it would be 30% off, but it turned out it was only 10% off at the register. I got it anyway. I don't regret it though.

Sushi in Yiddish posted:I think I fell in love: For this I would recommend buying the 8051 technic motorcyle as a base for parts. http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8051-1 It looks like most of the parts came from that set and it was around $50 when it was released and toysrus might still have some on the shelves. InfinEight is right about bricklink and the chrome parts, they will jack the price up quickly. I bought a few chrome parts and used them in the past but find them distracting on the models except for a few rare cases.

Nthing the love for the garbage truck aet. I picked it up a few days ago because it looked like a good deal. I was surprised to see the green used is a brighter shade I've never seen before. I liked it so much I had to recycle it almost immediately into this: The Mayfly; my 2nd attempt at a snotty micro-scale battleship.

Rebrickable is really cool, I saw it linked here before but I forgot the name so thanks for bringing it back up. I just put in my sets and decided to see what I could make. I mostly saw small sets, but what caught my eye was this top. I built it and it works INCREDIBLY WELL, I didn't think lego bricks were going to make for a good top. I spun it and my dog was watching it really intently. As soon as it stopped, he barked at it a lot then picked it up and threw it so it broke. I got a video if anyone wants to see this top in action, but let's be honest you really just wanna see my dog. I immediately had to pick up the pieces to make sure he didn't eat any. The top is now reassembled.

It's a 750 part build, thereabouts. Nothing on it looks particularly out of the ordinary, at least looking at it. I have no idea what kind of rates you can get from bricklink, but its a starting point.
