It would be the same price, save for VIP earnings or other promotional things. Jinx is the only place taking pre-orders though, as far as I know.

I know I have plenty of time until "Summer 2012", but I shouldn't have any problem preordering this in a week or two, right? It isn't going to be some limited edition bullshit?

Also I'm fully aware the only unique pieces are the printed blocks but I still want the official package.

I think that the new haunted house that was "leaked" by lego will not be part of the Monster Hunters theme. It looks like a sophisticated adult model to me and not something aimed at kids. Which is great!

I counted a total of three new parts in the minecraft set. Im still not sure if I consider the pricing good or bad. It's well under 10c/piece but the pieces are so small it confuses my pricing calculator.

I think somehow people got into their minds that minecraft lego would be like a ten set theme with custom printed blocks and minifig scale mobs.

They did a really good job with the almost impossible task of using one kind of blocks to simulate a game where you build things with a different kind of blocks.

The only other direction I could see them going in would be some kind of creeper statuette which would have been a really boring build.

As is it's a great little snapshot of minecraft that shows of the creative possibilities of Lego.

I wish they'd do a full microscale theme for something other than the architecture. I'd love to be able to buy some awesome micro scale space ships as I have no imagination or pieces to build them myself!

The mine craft set is weird. I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't a fairly generic-looking block of landscape with no visible studs in the finished product... At least the characters are nice looking, though I wonder why Steve doesn't have big blocky swively arms.

It is really neat, and for a 28 year old lego set in very good condition. It may not stand up to some of todays sets but I still think it is neat the set is hinged together so the building can be shut closed and you have more play area. The vehicles really show how far along lego has come .A modern version of it along the line of the modular buildings would be fantastic

Video showing off the Town Hall modular building coming next month. You can see UCS R2-D2 and what looks like a haunted house in quick shots at the beginning of the video.

Judging by the comments on that video, Lego's next competition grand prize should be a lunch date with an attractive woman to have a discussion about Lego without shame or fear of ridicule.

Or for brevity's sake, a discussion with a woman.

Really? Why? If it was a monster fighters set Lego would do its typical building with only 2.5 walls that is really tall so it looks cool on the box. If its part of some sort of creator set or the like we would get a proper building with more parts.

I'd be having a full nerd tantrum if I actually cared about Minecraft. Lego seems to have a real knack for getting licences that I realise are "good" (SW, Potter, LoTR, DC/Marvel) yet do not interest me personally at all. K'nex got Nintendo, Megabloks got Pokemon and Halo etc. Regarding minecraft I think Lego has done a pretty good job considering the source material they had to base it off. Lots of great colours for landscaping. Plus its a set you could use near infinite multiples of. But its still something I would never buy and I'm doubtful even a tenth of those who pushed it through Cuusoo will either. I imagine Lego has learnt some value lessons about crowdsourcing from this.

I had that set when it was new. It blew my mind at the time, there were things they were doing with that LEGO set that I hadn't seen done before. The building is hinged not for more play area, but more play options. When you get tired of that configuration, you fold it in half and you get a new play area for "free". Or you can pretend it's some kind of transforming package station and play that way.

The garage door had been done the previous year on the police station, but it was the first time I'd seen it. The sliding cargo doors were new to me too. Overall, it's one of my last LEGO kits as a kid and one of the ones I have the fondest memories of having.

The helicopter was a copy of a previous kit, though. 6685. That was a little bit of a disappointment.

I went to Target to pick up a couple things today and as I walked past the aisle something caught my eye. The VW Camper Van for only $80 after tax! Apparently someone ordered it online then returned it so it was marked down for clearance. It's a really cool build and I recommend buying it if you ever see it on sale. I probably wouldn't have gotten it if it wasn't on clearance. But some sort of Lego God out there probably just wants me to keep spending more money...

Admittedly, looking at those things, I'm not really sure they're "Lego builds" by standard definitions, there's a lot of places where pieces are obviously glued together at odd angles, and possibly some cut or altered, it's hard to tell at that resolution.

Not that this makes it any less impressive, mind, still doing that much with lego bricks. :stare:
