So, about three weeks ago I lost my job, and through thankful benediction I managed to get up to date on rent and council tax til the end of the tax year before I stopped getting paid to work, but I've spent the last fortnight sleepless and freaking out because of an upcoming energy bill. Guess what arrived today and was less than half of what I was expecting and I can actually afford to pay without borrowing money? Also some stupid yogurt pot plant I set up because I was bored and needed a project just started sprouting. I'm a father

Third row, middle section tickets to see Florence and the Machine in Cleveland this July. Hell. Freakin'. Yes. I was up all night stressing over the presale, but ended up buying overpriced eBay tix anyway because I'm terrified of not getting first three rows like I wanted. A concert isn't a concert if you're not sitting in the first three rows. Now, to wait for July...

Had a job interview this morning, which meant I got to sleep in and take my morning preparation - normally ignored - nice and slow. The interview went well; I established a nice rapport with the company's VP near the end, but he had a stack of resumes next to mine. I'd say I got a B on it, so the chances are slim, but it felt like the best interview I'd ever done. It's nice now to roll into work late, be super-productive, and eat a hot pastrami sandwich while following Manchester United at lunch. Also, our super-cool assistant is back from maternity leave, and she's always nice and encouraging.

This happened today, so I've never looked in my mailbox at my new place and figured I should after a month, during lunch. Stick what I thought was the key into the lock, doesn't turn. Try to take it out, doesn't come out.... great, somehow the wrong key can go in but can't come out. Give it a good pull and it comes out fine. Move on to the next key ("Surely this is the one?!), goes in fine, try to turn it. Failure. UGH, SERIOUSLY?! Try to pull it out. Failure. Keep messing with it, can't get it to come out. I say screw it and just pull as hard as I can and somehow manage to PULL THE KEY IN HALF, along with straigtening the little keyring all my keys were attached to, sending keys flying everywhere. loving COME ON. Grab everything up and start sifting through the massive amount of mail stuffed in there. Trash, trash, wrong person, trash, wrong person, wrong person, trash... hmmm well this is odd I guess the person didn't update their address. Cool more poo poo to do. Trash, trash, wrong person, trash, ugh, not a single thing for me, awesome. Throw it in my car so I can go give it to the office and tell them the lock / key is broken after I eat. I eat lunch, come back to my car and glance at the mail agian to make sure none was mine. Then it dawns on me. These all say APT# 544. I live in APT# 554. WELP.

I woke up and it was 70 degrees in Southern Illinois today. I then proceeded to start day one of "Insanity," a totally hardcore cardio work out program. Best part, I didn't even pay for it, my friend shelled out the $160. After getting my rear end kicked (and even I consider myself to be relatively in shape) I proceeded to pre-spring clean the poo poo out of my house. I opened all the windows to let out the winter-long smell of farts, weed, and beer. I tackled the kitchen, living room, back porch, and front lawn to pick up all the cigarette butts my friends leave in my lawn. Now I'm enjoying a beer and jamming out with all the windows wide open. I'm definitely ready for spring but alas it is not yet March. Oh and tonight is Gentlemen's night. My friends and I are getting steaks, cigars, and some whiskey to sit on the porch and be all handsome and cool and poo poo.

Beautiful weather, payday and stocking up at costco Plus, I decided to surprise my housemate with cupcakes tomorrow morning for her birthday and I'm really excited about it. I'm also about to have a great weekend. My boss is gone tomorrow, I'm doing dinner with friends after work, going on a hike on Saturday and Sunday my best friend is driving the 2+ hours to see me since its been weeks.

I've realized I've got a slight porn addiction so I just deleted all my porn on my computer. It helps that I don't have a torrent account anymore (for various reasons) and later tonight I'm gonna blow all my tokens (about $30) on the first webcam lady who answers a witty question correct. Then I'll delete my account. So, I need a witty question! I'm not sure it qualifies as awesome but I feel really good about it! saihttam has a new favorite as of 11:34 on Feb 24, 2012 |

Finally got an offer from the insurance company evaluating my motorcycle. I'm getting about 33% more than what I paid for it a year and a half ago. I haven't even finalized injury settlement or the cost of my gear with them, that'll be a handful more on top of it. It rocks because I was trying to find it in me to downsize and sell this bike anyway (I have one other one that I've been neglecting, and is already more than enough to get around the city on), and aside from sliding around in the street in traffic this was way more profitable than a regular private sale would have been. sirbeefalot has a new favorite as of 02:19 on Feb 25, 2012 |

I work with disabled people. Today, I had to do a home visit, and the girl whose house I was at told me (signed to me) that she loved me. She is a 25-year old girl who was in a car accident years ago and is paralyzed and has a lot of health/mental issues now. Of all the cases I have, hers hits me the hardest. When she made that sign to me, I wanted to cry and smile at the same time.

I had a job interview go really well, I have a really good feeling about it! Tomorrow, I'm going bowling for the first time in years! The day after, I'm going to see the new Ghost Rider with an old friend. It's probably not gonna be a great movie, but we both have a love of Neveldine/Taylor and Nic Cage, so it's gonna be a lot of fun.

Got another commission out the door and on another happy customer; feels amazing to get poo poo done! Wine coloured men's suit vest, with buttonholes and welt pockets, both of which I learned how to do for this project. Plus I think the new antidepressants are starting to work. I didn't want to die today, and it's the first time in a very veery long time that it didn't cross my mind at least once.

After a rather lovely day at school, I rushed into my car and started to go home. I didn't notice that there was a sticky note on the window to my left until after I'd already got in and was moving. Already in a devastated mood and unable to see it clearly in the evening, I worried my head over what on earth it could be. Was it from the law? Was it from the university? Was it important? Why would anybody put a note on my window? So I found myself driving slowly down the highway so as to not lose the note flapping dangerously in the wind. I finally arrived home and looked at the drat thing. It was a part time opportunity. No really. It's a plain manilla stickynote on which is stamped (and I mean stamped, it wasn't printed, it wasn't handwritten, somebody pressed a stamp carved with these words down onto this paper) quote:Part time opportunity Since I'd been needing a job for quite a while and I was really upset from my crappy day, this was like a message from god to me when I first saw it. Almost too good to be true, I mean there's no explanation of what the job is or even who they are beyond a landline phone number and the fact that they speak Spanish. I tried a variety of google searches to see if something like this happened to anyone else. Nope, nothing. I have never heard of people advertising part time jobs by putting sticky notes stamped with custom text on random college students' cars, and apparently neither has google. I'm afraid it's too late in the evening to call the number, so I'll try around 2 PM tomorrow. I fully realize that on the other side there could literally be anything--a nice job, a sleazy job, a physical lifting job I can't do, a scammer, drug dealers, a group of mad scientists with a time machine, or the gods themselves. It could very well be a scam or something like that, but I really really want this to be legit. When I call them, I'll be sure to ask many questions and find out as much as I can about them. I'd love to track down the number's exact address, but I don't know how to do it for free. EDIT: After getting a second opinion, it might actually just be a scam. I mean, there's absolutely no description of the actual job or who they are which are things that employees would actually like to know before contacting someone. It's a really strange one though, since I can't find evidence of a scam being advertised like this anywhere else, and they went through the trouble of having a stamp made or stamped for them. I took a vacation day for Leap Day (Happy Leap Day!) and the weather has been beautiful. I rode my bike and now I'm watching Terminator and playing with Lego. I think I'm still 12 years old at heart. Also, had delicious junk food for lunch, including cookies from a local bakery.

Got lunch at Pizza Hut today and the one near us told us initially that they could deliver, but found out shortly after that our shop wasn't within their specific delivery area. Ended up picking up the pizzas and they gave us 2 free ones for the trouble - so 4 pizzas for $20 for lunch!

I'm not, however, looking forward to having to walk in the sleet and grossness to get food. Another thing that made my day awesome: my roommate and I found a sick, injured stray cat sitting in the road on the way to dinner. We called the SPCA and animal control, but everyone was shut down due to the weather. We ended up staying with the cat until we could get her moved off the road. A little while later a lady came by with a blanket and a kennel and picked her up to take care of her.

Additional reasons why today is awesome: 1) I thought I lost a pair of shoes that I wear all the time and were expensive. I spent the past 2 weeks looking for them EVERYWHERE. My housemate told me this morning that her dog apparently decided to pick them up and hide them under her bed. I got my shoes back and in the same, non-chewed condition! 2) Got tickets to see another basketball game in a couple of weeks 3) I woke up with my cat cuddling with me
