What number did you call? If you called regular customer care, you called the wrong department. Call the signal booster number first, and if not then call retentions.

Edit: EPRP I would still think they would get you an airrave, real employee plans well, you are at the mercy of Sprint.

My sister is having the same issue, she called retentions because she's legitimately having issues with her phone (only gets signal in one corner of her room), and they told her she was more than welcome to purchase an air rave, but would not get one for free due to the fact that she is on an employee plan (an actual employee plan, through her sister in law, not EPRP).

Any of you Sprint employee goons know if the data roaming soft cap applies per-line or per-plan?

I'm a little worried because I absent-mindedly let my girlfriend tether on a long car ride today - and completely forgot that I was still flashed to a Verizon PRL (Sprint has been having really bad data problems recently by my new apartment).

Several hundred megabytes of roaming data later, I'm concerned about screwing over the other four people on my family plan. I think the soft cap for an individual line is 800 megs, but I have no clue how it works on a family plan.

Is it ~800 per line, 800 per plan, or a pool of 4 gigs (800 x 5 lines)? Or something else entirely? Google is seriously failing me here.

Edit: gently caress, just read the per line soft cap is supposedly 300 mb, not 800. Now I'm really getting concerned cause I'm definitely over that.

If you go over the soft cap the worst they would do is send a letter to warn you (I got one). That said from what I read they will cancel your line if you keep doing it. Plus I think it has to be more than one month before they will send a letter. I was abusing it pretty bad (I didn't know at the time it was a issue) downloading ROMs at work (this is where I was having roaming issues) and streaming for awhile before I got a letter. Since then I got the iPhone and I leave data roaming off most of the time.

Yeah, Nexus S or Evo 3D are the two best Android phones on Sprint. I switched myself back to a Nexus S, and I will say its noticeably slower than the ICS ROM I have on my Evo 3D (I'm running Gummy ROM on the Nexus). I'll give it a bit, I may end up switching back to the 3D.

I'm going to be keeping an eye on this, this is exactly the situation I have, considering going from my 3D to a NS4G. The S has a single core processor and 512MB of RAM while the 3D has a dual core and 1GB, may be the reason why it's slower.

My friend is an eloquent speaker.

Are Sprint affiliate stores universally lovely with refurbs, or do they get them from the same source as Sprint corporate stores? I went through 6 returns with my wife's Evo 4G through the closest Sprint store, which is an affiliate/partner, and each one had gps issues. It wasn't until I got an Evo 4G replaced when I broke my usb port and swapped at a real Sprint store that we got a working one in return, which she inherited from me when I bought an Evo 3D.

And when my Evo 3D started develping phantom touch issues, the replacement I got from my affiliate actually intermittently shuts down the touch screen so I am pretty much without a phone until it decides to start working again.

I'm still running (rooted) stock on my Evo 3D. I'm not even going to bother with a custom ROM until there's a fully working ICS (likely CM9) available. Given history, I assume this will happen sometime after HTC releases an official ICS update (and source) for the phone. I think it was only after they Gingerbread update for the Evo 4G that fully working CM7 ROMs started showing up.

I can wait.

On another note, I read this article about how the HTC One X is going to be HTC's new flagship phone and how awesome and amazing it was. And then at THE VERY END of the article it says it's going to be AT&T exclusive. :sigh:

I have a feeling I'm going to be rocking the Evo 3D for at least another year anyway, though, so I guess I don't mind that much.

Same source. Corporate stores have more flexibility on swapping you to a different mode phone (I think).

Sprint refurbs for certain phones have been kind of hit or miss latest. Inventory has been a big problem, if you want my guess I honestly think they are being a bit more lenient on the refurb approval process, specifically for the Evo and Evo shift.

Mark Larson posted:

Stock ICS is just more fluid, I'm a big fan of the spell checker improvements for instance. Voice to text is of course way better. It's hard to quantify, but it's just smoother.

Stupid question, maybe. I'm on SERO and am eligible for my 22-month upgrade on the 1st. If I get a phone separately and don't use my upgrade discount, a) will I keep my discount if I want to use it, say, later this year? and b) I won't need to renew my contract if I'm not using that upgrade, right? I actually don't have a problem with re-upping my contract, considering it's absolutely a fantastic deal.

I just want to get either the Galaxy Nexus (maybe) or the next iPhone (maybe, patience though...) and I'm okay with spending maybe $250-$300 for an iPhone 4 if it meant I could take a slight hit in a few months to get a brand new phone rather than an iPhone now. Either way, I could use an iPhone 4 for however long I need, really. I'd rather spend $250 for an iPhone 4 if I can find one and keep my upgrade intact than spend $200 for an iPhone 4S. Plus, depending on 4G coverage I might end up with a Galaxy Nexus or some other 4G phone.

I just can't stand to have my current phone much longer.

e: I just re-read the OP more closely and answered my own questions. I'm not dying to get another Android phone at this point, though, but the Galaxy Nexus could change my mind someday.

My girlfriend's upgrade rolls around next month and she's saving it for the Sprint GN launch, I might as well just keep plinking pennies into a jar and by the time it drops I'll be able to buy one off-contract for myself.

e: When I saw how uninspired Sense 4 was, that was the point at which I said "oh gently caress it." I might even throw down for an NS in the meantime because god drat that was a huge letdown. It's basically the same sense with thinner text. Thanks HTC, just what I was looking for after the first decent-looking (not only that but apparently pleasant, productive, and clean as gently caress) UX from Google in ICS. Nope, instead I get the same old horseshit from HTC that I set aside when I bought my Evo 3D hoping against hope there'd be robust CM support for it. Contrarily, it looks like there's more progress going for the Epic 4G than the Evo 3D.

I'm one of the few evo3d users who has 4g on a lot, so I'm not even hoping for a ROM I can flash to. As far as I'm concerned, I buy phones assuming they will never receive a significant (non bugfix) update in their two year lifespan. So far this is looking right.

Which Sprint phone has the best quality camera? Is it the iPhone 4S? It's really the only thing I care about and I'm not very satisfied with the camera on the EVO 3D. Will we see anything even close to the Nokia phone with the Carl-Zeiss lens camera on the body any time soon? I was thinking about getting a Galaxy III when it comes out. I have no idea how the math worked out, but apparently I'm already eligible for a phone upgrade despite getting the Evo 3D during launch. I'd like to stay with the android platform because I like being able to store tons and tons of media with the expandable drive.

The iPhone 4s has by far the best camera. As far as android camera's go, I've been hearing the Galaxy Nexus camera blows...so if you don't mind not having "the full google android experience", I'd probably wait and see what the Galaxy S3 has to offer, but by then I'm sure the iphone5 will be at least announced. Correct and incorrect. I would think trust activating online, but sprint now has a specific department for employee care, see OP for the number or just dial *2 from your phone and hit 0 three times.

This is the best idea. I can't speak for every department, but the general ESN checker has a lookup for lost or stolen and a separate lookup to see if it is on am active account. So what happens is a sprint rep checks one but not the other. No idea why the system is setup like that.
