I'm assuming Victarion is being used as a vehicle to transport the Meerenese subplot to Westeros, plus add his own threading to the already tangled web a la magic dragon horn. In light of this, do you think GRRM will devote time to the Tattered Prince and his Pentos ambitions? It would bring Dany full circle in her journey, assuming he doesn't decide to throw her even further east for some inexplicable reason.

I could claim subtlety in writing but that's never been my style. Bringing her to Pentos and loving it up for the sake of practicality would make sense, if but to continue the lessons Dany is supposed to be learning about the nature of rule. I would honestly laugh if she somehow ends up going to Asshai. But even then I can save save this. Victarion is a Viking expy right? Circumnavigate the world! End up in the Iron Isles from the east, with vivid descriptions of all pastries and salted meats along the way.

I just like how GRRM apparently wanted Dany stuck back with the loving Dothraki, making GBS threads blood and berries or whatever, after wasting an entire book (technically two) maneuvering Tyrion close to her. I get almost everyone else being where they are at the end of ADwD, save Dany.

Only ~~my Daario~~ ever could. The new Khal will try but Dany will make fun of his manhood or something, and just when he thinks he's got Dany dead to rights ~~Daario~~ will come riding up on a saddle Tyrion built for Viserion and cut his neck open whilst fondling the hilts of his swords.....

If it's a penis metaphor, it's either Littlefinger's big finger, or the metaphorical penis of the Targaryen rising as they make their return to the throne. But I think it's just a snow castle, so it probably falls into the lemoncake category.

Not that it matters It's for sure telling of GRRM's thought process of what "medieval world" is like. I don't think it says anything towards how he feels about women or how he treats them, but perhaps it's indicative of what he feels the world used to be, and he just keeps writing scenes that disturb him, like horror writers who purposely write things that terrify them. I'm sure someone else would write a story set in Medieval Land where everyone's just a subsistance farmer and there's no rape mentioned or depicted at all, all they care about is barter economies and the feudal system. And that's just as legitimate as GRRM's land of Westerape.
