That Distortion Acrobatics movement power is out now, it looks. Looks like there's a Super Speed variant too. Downside, it's a separate purchase. Upside, looks like buying either one gives you a version with the old running animation too, if you really want to be Naruto or something I guess. :geno:

Also, there's a big article up about the changes they're doing to stats, probably worth a read.

Eh, aside from the wrap-around shades on the dude, most of it's pretty generic enough honestly. No worse than the "Unleashed" archetype. :v:

There's a big article on the site about the art updates they're doing to the game. Judging from recent stuff, it seems like they've hired on new people the last few months, and the difference in ChampO and STO environments really show. Let's hope it comes out good.

Also, here's some in-game shots of some pieces of that cyberpunk set. Day-one purchase, just like the retro sci-fi set. :stare:

They've said these will be purchased in-game. Whether it's with globals or some new-fangled currency like Snake Bucks (I hope not, ugh :smithicide:) remains to be seen.

If they do put it up on the C-Store, I'd be happy.

Worst case scenario, it'll be a grab bag thing from random bags that you can also earn through tedious, grueling in-game quests as a pretense that it's fair, like with that mountain costume set. If so I think it'd be time to cancel. :ughh:

Hopefully it'll just be the usual 400ish CP deal.

In addition to these rewards, we’ve also begun to create brand-new sets of elaborately detailed, themed costumes which will be available at new in-game vendors throughout all levels.

After the ~super real money casino boxes~ bullshit in STO which only avoid qualifying as illegal gambling by sole virtue of you never winning actual money, only virtual items, I wouldn't put it past Perfect World. :suicide:

But yeah, probably from lots of grindy quests/kill drops that can vaguely pass as conent.

Low morale causes the golems to dance in panic.
Character designs are about to get complex.

Basically, these are bonus sets you take at levels 10, 20, 30 and 40 that fit class roles. (I.E. at level 10, you can choose a set of 8 abilities that can be ranked up to add special bonuses to ranged damage, such as increasing initial attack power or the strength of maintains.) Looks like there could be a lot of stacking of similar trees, as well as a bit of flexibility in designing a character for balance or pure specialization. Of course, silvers have tree choices already chosen out for them.

E: To anyone who wants to check out what they've done so far, it's on the Public Test Server now (keeping in mind that it's probably horribly buggy). This CO thread has info on how to use the PTS. (keep in mind that silver players cannot access the test shard.)

Also only one secondary slot for each type :aaa:

I'll have to wait until I can see the itemization changes to get the full picture, but as it stands, players are getting knocked down a peg and NPCs are getting buffed.

Will be a big change and I'm sure a lot of the CO spergs will :spergin: out over these changes, but the game is way too easy as it is anyways.

EDIT: Oh yeah, looks like CO is getting it's own version of STO's dilithium system. That's most likely how these new costumes sets are earned in-game I bet.

I don't know, I think the specializations will balance out (and will probably go beyond that, even,) the reduction in secondary items.

Who the gently caress really knows with how Cryptic usually manages balance.

But it'll probably work fine, yeah. The game is frankly easy enough (outside of a handful of situations) that a little accidental difficulty increase won't make it annoying, anyway. And having more things to fiddle with while building a character's probably good in the long run; leveling rewards tend to be incredibly frontloaded in ChampO, even after Cryptic smoothed it out a bit pre-F2P.

Given I recently started with Star Trek Online, it looks like they're trying to bring it into line with that.

Also looks a lot like your standard 'Talent Trees'. All we can hope is that there won't be too much of the bland and required-but-pointless. Say what you like, but a lot of the stuff you buy does something significant to the powers involved.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but according to the post on the PTS they're also adding item modification.

PTS posted:

Item Modification:
Hello Champions! The item modification system is now available for full use on the PTS! To modify an item with available slots (these items will say that you can open them in the tooltip) either Control+Right Click the item to open the modification window. From here you may drag a modification that matches the slot (Enhancement, Armoring, Offensive Core, Defensive Core, and Utility Core) and it will immediately take effect. To remove a modification, just drag it back to your inventory where you will be prompted to confirm removal and pay a small fee (these values are not yet final). Item tooltips do not yet reflect the slotted Modifications, but rest assured they are functioning. Also keep in mind that modifications do not currently bind, so feel free to trade them with your friends! In addition you will also notice the Fuse button, which is currently not functional and opens a temporary window.
