Plus you need to find carpet that's non-toxic and won't leave really stringy threads when it's clawed up (I found some good outdoor/marine stuff) or fake fur, which is what Armarkat uses. Depending on what your cat likes, add in the fact that's it's a pain in the rear end to make round cubbies or hammocks, and eventually it becomes totally not worth it unless you happen to have most of the stuff already. That said, I made one and the cats like it but mainly because it's a big shelf along the window; coulda just made that and said eff the rest of it
