Karkat only created the A2 trolls. Even if they were genetically identical to the A1 trolls, the exact mechanics of the effect the Scratch has on preventing universes from being viable is not yet known. And at any rate, we don't know for sure in which universe the A1 trolls were created, other than that it's not B1.

Conversations like this are the fun part of Homestuck. One of them, anyway.

This was a much more viable hypothesis before Act 6, which introduced the idea that players/ancestors are directly copied when they go through the meteor gates. Which is to say, the A2 trolls are literally the A1 trolls, no ectobiology shenanigans, no weird genetic poo poo, just straight clones which subsequently led different lives.

Karkat still only made 24 trolls the same way John made 8 humans; both sets were cloned kind-of-sort-of offscreen. Of course, we won't know for absolutely 100% no doubts this is true until we get to the end of B2 with no ectobiology interlude, which will probably take a while, so :v:

They weren't really "Cloned."

In B1 they entered the universe on meteors through Reckoning portals.
The universe was reset.
In B2 they entered the same, yet reset universe on meteors through Reckoning portals (obviously from a different session than this universe will spawn). This time the kids/guardians simply arrived at opposite times.

Since the Incipisphere is separate from the universe, the meteors with the babies still get sent.

I'm actually slightly inclined to suspect there will be an ectobiology interlude but it'll mostly just tell us that Dad is a paradox clone of himself or something. Gotta close those loops and tick those boxes, and then Jane gets to feel like she should have been pressing more buttons just before the old cast starts bursting in. Something like that.

Yeah, I figure this is because this instance of him isn't going to take a circuitous route through time and across sessions to become the basis of Lord English.
However, the Cal who did that will probably be entering universe B2 soon... maybe the Condesce sent Dave that video in B1 to ensure that LE was created in A2, and the same ectobiological parent would make the trip to B2 to start the process over, and that's how LE gets to this new universe.

Haa haa. Hee hee. Hoo hoo.

Well, all the characters are approaching something suitably climactic right now, whereas Dirk wasn't. We may get a few more pages of setup for Dirk and then a few more with Jade to lead into the end of act.

Edit: Of the events foreseen at the end of the end of the Act 6 Intermission 1 flash, Dirk confronting a Drone and the volcano on Jake's island have yet to transpire. Both are sufficiently climactic for an animation.

It's funny that that conversation could be interpreted as 'this is a callback to all the deja-vu conversations that meant someone was dead/dreaming' or be implying that Dirk is half-remembering his pre-scratch memories, while ALSO being a callback to Dave having a showdown on the roof.

The reference pile, it just doesn't stop getting bigger.

I'm aggressively wrong about everything!
"A puppet who dual-wields a cueball". I'm willing to accept the grammatical error.

"A hipster who is exasperated by a skateboard". I'm... pretty sure this happened at some point, right?

"A hero who is in love with Lil Cal". Bongo Bill is right, it's way more fun to shuffle until you get an accurate descriptor of a character.

"A freak who collects Lord English." Memorabilia, anyway. "An heiress who owns a fedora." In fact that was one of the first things we knew about her.

So, the most recent update gave me some ideas about who they parallel.

They could be like Karkat and/or the Sufferer's caring (and movie loving!) and raging sides, respectively.

Then, I thought of the Sufferer and the Grand Highblood. UU said that she and her brother have different blood colors. Karkat and Gamzee had the closest non-quadrant relationship by being just "best friends." They're like Karkat's hidden soft side (which he got from the Sufferer), and Gamzee's hidden nihilistic rage (which he got from the GHB.)

Then, wondering how their gender plays into all this, I realized that there are parallels between UU and uu and Nepata and Equius. UU likes fangirl stuff like Nepata, her clothes are green (According to MSPA wiki, fit some void in the color wheel where Karkat "should" be, fitting into the above theories), and her ancestor was the most devout follower of the sufferer's religion. Equius was always impatient with role playing and frivolity, has anger issues, and has Dirk draw weird porn.

Another blind guess: The equivalent of the Sufferer's religion was never pushed underground, so Lil' Mindfang is basically the Alternian equivalent of a good Christian girl. Her and Lil' Batterwitch's deaths pushed the others to cause the Scratch.

I'd buy that. If we are going to get a full dozen newcomers, and I see no reason to doubt it, it would be appropriate if the ones who are most "important" this time around correspond to the ones who were least important in the previous session, and vice versa.
