What other bands can i get into that are like Rainer Maria? I love a Girl/Guy singing tandem, but none of the other bands I've tried have the same . . . intensity I guess. I've tried The Anniversary (not intense enough) and I Would Set Myself On Fire for You (they're ok, but too . . . abstract).

Any suggestions? "Tinfoil" would probably the perfect song to describe what I'm looking for.

I saw these guys last night having never heard them before, they were indeed really good. I got their split with Tiger's Jaw and it owns and includes a really boss Elvis Costello cover.

They opened for Cheap Girls, who were also awesome.

Well despite the fact that the website said Cheap Girls didn't go on 'til twelve, their set was actually over by 11:45.

Theres a big connection in the city I live in (Perth, au) with the Jakarta indo punk scene, since they are our closest city and we tend to send our bands there and their bands here. As a result I've gotten to know a bunch of indonesian punks. Those guys are real, live loving hard, and cop serious issues such as religious police hassling them for mohawks and poo poo.

Anyway, theres this:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/157803924/jakarta-punk-the-marjinal-story?ref=email

If anyone wants to give bucks for a documentrary thats kick-starting on one of the classic Jakarta punk acts, Marjinal, it'd be greatly apreciated. For reference I have no involvement with this.

Marjinal are lo-fi street-punk/skinhead messy punk, record terribly, and tear poo poo up live, and more to the point where a big part of the protest movement that brought down the suharto regime in the 1990s so basically Marjinal are an important part of punk history and this doco aims to record that history.

I'd make a thread about it, 'cept anyone who doesn't like traditional punk would probably find it mystifying.

Looking for more punk/pop-punk/ska bands with keyboards and synthesizers. Wikipedia's article on synthpunk isn't the kind of stuff I'm looking for at all. I've heard Bad Religion's 2nd album and it sucks. I'm talking about stuff like Zolof the Rock & Roll Destroyer, Motion City Soundtrack, and the last I Voted For Kodos record. My favorite band is Bomb the Music Industry. What else is out there?

Any hardcore, screamo, or neocrust fan should really check out Enslave - Far East Hardcore Punk. Really underrated group out of Japan with dual male/female vocals. This is their first album, and it easily was my hardcore album of the year for 2011.

Also I saw Celeste mentioned earlier, any Celeste fan should really check out Heaven in Her Arms's Paraselene album. Really crushing sludgey screamo with post-rock influences like Envy.

I've always been interested in the punk scene in countries with a repressive government and/or strict societal values - y'know, where rebellion actually comes with a risk. I've had this link in my favorites for a while, it's an Indonesian band (Under 18) covering Warzone's The Sound Of Revolution. Do you know them?

Ri-loving-diculous. People are gonna do it anyway, and if clubs end up kicking out large numbers of concert goers, bands aren't going to want to play there anymore as people won't want to buy tickets. It's bad for everyone.
