I thought DX:HR endings were bad but this is tons worse. It's almost like Bioware couldn't fathom what to do a proper conclusion with the million of choices that were made in ME1/2. Thankfully, MP is a complete blast.

Finished the game.

I went with Synthesis.

Don't flay me alive, but I liked it. The cycle ends by beginning anew, with no chance of repeating. Joker gets the girl. Honestly, it was the end of Battlestar Galactica in other terms.

What I didn't like was the length - that was a very, very short ending. After that trilogy, I felt like we deserved something lengthier. I'll second comments about lack of closure to the series, but Bioware already stated that this wasn't the last Mass Effect game so closure wouldn't have really fit.

The game, as a whole, was fantastic. There were a few niggling issues that should be corrected (Journal updates for sidequest completions, IE, when it's complete change the quest text to 'return to questgiver,' and the DISC ONE DISC TWO DISC ONE poo poo that was prevalent the first ~10 hours immediately spring to mind).

I was happy to see some closure in the game though. Thane's death made me, a grown man, cry. Legion sacrificing himself to enable the Geth to transcend themselves was well done.

Now with that commentary out of the way, I need to understand the endings:

There are only 3, correct? Synthesis, Control, and Sacrifice? There isn't some magic ending where Shepard survives, is there?

regarding that last bit shepard can indeed live.

Biggest issue I have with this loving game is how it seems that side missions will require Disc 2, but main missions require Disc 1... despite a full install of both discs. Did I do this wrong or something? Is there a fix here?

I learned to tune out the armchair sociologists who raised hell about EDI, femshep, etc. a long time ago, but now that the game is actually out, it is impossible to find an opinion about the ending that isn't either "this is a gripping conclusion to a great series" or "lol what gently caress Bioware always and forever and ever."

Not too far in, but really curious where this ends up!

The Disc One/Disc Two poo poo fades off after like, 10 hours of gameplay. It annoyed the poo poo out of me too. Another annoyance with it is that even if you install both games to HD, after a disc-swap the platter keeps spinning.

This is unbelievable. If I had known this, I certainly would have gotten the PS3 version, imported ME2 character be damned.

I'm trying to avoid as many spoilers as possible but this one I have to know:

I loaded a file that romanced/stayed loyal to Liara but nothing's happened with her yet other than minor stuff. Will it kill it for her if I fool around with Specialist Traynor? Also Allers seems like she's interested but not to that point yet.. Same question.

Basically, can I be FemShep Space Pimp or will everyone hate me?

That guide is poorly written, unless that is exactly the choices listed. I can't control/destroy even if the tier before let me do both?

Also, how do you "save" Anderson. TIM forces you to shoot him halfway through the dialogue, or is saving him from being executed count as saving him?

I'm really debating if I want to do a NG+ now or wait to see what the future dlc will be. I kinda want to do a NG+ now because I had so many bugs that broken quests and characters.

I had about 5 missions that would update, I had a mission that wasn't fully implemented (I got access to a cluster that was flashing and had a planet with one of the big quest boxes but I couldn't interact with the planet at all), a few characters that didn't spawn (Most of the pre-invasion citadel events like Kelly weren't available), I had some really strange cutscenes/dialogue skips, and like most people I had the love interest ending bug (shows Liara instead of your LI).

After the ending, I just don't feel much motivation to do NG+ though. If that secret ending for NG+ rumor were true, I might give it a shot. Guess it's time to play a fuckton of multiplayer while the bugs get sorted out.

Only official spot where I've seen anything mentioned about NG+ is in the Prima guide stating "A secret ending is also available to players who complete the game a second time." and when looking at the listing of amount of points needed for which ending, it only lists the ones people are complaining about with mention of Liara's reward for keeping the paddlefish alive through an imported ME2 and ME3 playthrough . I've searched and asked around but no one's given me any answer on any definitive NG+ playthroughs. Closest said was that Xio guy who first leaked the endings from his Space edition allegedly said somewhere that he'd done an ME2 import playthrough and a NG+ playthrough in 20+ something hours with no change in endings.

Since I do question some of his playthroughs as some factors just don't seem to add up in my eyes, I'd really like to hear what someone else has to say about a NG+ playthrough ending. However since so many are posting that they're really not feeling it for any replays after going through the ending selection, I don't think we're going to see anything soon barring a Gibbed style editor for ME3 where you can just flag a fresh save to go through NG+.

Apparently you have to have 5k+ effective military strength, then you get a quick clip of Shepard waking up at the end. I did every side quest I could find, salvaged every asset I could find (every system was at 100% found) and yet I still only had 5400 or so total strength, so because I didn't play any multiplayer I only had 2700 or so, which is a full green bar. One more retarded thing to throw on the pile of complaints about the ending.

Granted, there were a few things that would have increased my effective military strength, like I rewrote the Geth which weakened the Quarians, and Eve died so the Krogan weren't at full strength, but I seriously doubt that would have resulted in almost doubling my EMS. Making it so that you had to play multiplayer to get the best ending is pretty poo poo, especially considering this is not made clear in any way.

I had 7052 war assets or so, but because I didn't play multi I effectively only got half.
No bonus clip for me.

The galactic readiness thing is stupid.
Multiplayer should NOT affect the singleplayer game.

VV Don't worry about that. If you leave a system without fuel you will go to the gate for "free".

Also on the war readiness/assets and the best ending, according to BioWare you don't need to do MP to get it. All MP does is allow you to get it with less overall assets.

Yeah, that's definitely bullshit. It's mathematically impossible, I gathered every asset and made virtually every correct decision and was still short of the absolute best ending even with 71% readiness.

On insanity the atrium fight was way, way harder than the banshees for me at least. I already thought that I simply couldn't do it since it probably took me couple hours of dying to beat it. That being said it has been so far (at the quarian fleet now) the only fight that has been even near that hard.
