Prediction: V is going to use this time of unconsciousness to have a chat with someone that may exist only in his/her dreams. Similar to Belkar having that vision that made him emerge as a sexy shoeless god of war again.

So as you can see, according to the chart the Roy Greenhilt magnets have been produced, while the participation patches are just entering production and colouring books are mostly printed.

Is it the finished work-o-meter? Or a work-in-progress work-o-meter? Work-o-meter needs to be on the work-o-meter. It's fun to say "work-o-meter."

Well that does it for the statue theory, heck it isn't even the right size. I guess they're sort of back to square one, nothing to do but root around until they find something that points them to the gate.

I gotta say, this is appearing to be kinda disappointing. I was hoping to see all the cool, clever illusions that Girard had crafted to protect the gate.

Tinyn posted:They all faded, and weren't being recast by his dead family any more? The point is that when you're dealing with an epic level illusionist, you should take essentially nothing at face value. They might have faded, they might have never existed, they might all be subject to one of them now and not know it.

Epic magic is so hosed the entire temple or last 5 strips or so could have been an illusion.

Tinyn posted:They all faded, and weren't being recast by his dead family any more? That might very well have just been paranoia or an extra safety precaution. If a spell ran out at noon, you might want to have someone go out and renew it a few minutes before noon just so it doesn't fade out for any length of time.

ShadowCatboy posted:I gotta say, this is appearing to be kinda disappointing. I was hoping to see all the cool, clever illusions that Girard had crafted to protect the gate. I'm skeptical that Girard is actually dead, even though the Order is being directly faced with a body. Girard was of comparable age to Dorukan, who was old but healthy until relatively recently. And epic spellcasters in particular ought to have access to all manner of life-extending magic or feats. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense for him to have died a natural death 20 years ago. It's not out of the question, but it's something that's highly suspicious at the very least. Roy ought to be aware of this (he's been perceptive so far in this arc), and so should Rich Burlew. It's not easy circumventing such magic, especially without Vaarsuvius, and even if you know you're being subjected to it. What's more likely is that the Order has successfully penetrated the fading illusions of the now-dead Draketooth family members; think of that as a first line of defense. Without the Familicide spell, even that would have been an accomplishment, seeing as how even the lesser Draketooths appear to have included multiple 16th+ level sorcerers. However, they haven't started seeing through (or necessarily even finding) Girard's own illusions.
