I've noticed when using the iPhone app, that every time I play a playlist, it's on shuffle, even though I didn't hit shuffle. Therefor, I have no idea how to turn off shuffle.

Anyone ever seen that?

Click the i, turn off shuffle when you're at the Now Playing screen.

It shuffles by default if you hit shuffle any time.

Has anyone been logging in to find a bunch of weird songs added to their spotify playlists? I'm wondering if Spotify is doing this or someone else is adding them.

I'm new to this thing. Is there a good way to keep albums nearby for close access? I know you can star/bookmark them, but the launch screen on my phone lists every list I've ever bookmarked, and I can see when I have done that to hundreds of them that the list will become very long and unweildy to browse.

Is Rdio etc any better in this regard?

I tend to just create a playlist of the album, which I don't think you are referring too when you say bookmark? That puts them all on the main screen and makes them fairly easy to find.

Yeah, that's what I meant, I'm sorry.

Thing is, I'm one of those guys who listens to whole albums at a time and could easily create a hundred or so playlists, so I was hoping there's something better out there. Maybe if I could somehow create a playlist-style shortcut to whole artists. I don't know.

Yeah, that's a problem. What kind of phone are you using? I know that on Android if click this (ok I can't describe this button, on my Droid X it's the one on the far left with 4 boxes on it) button it brings up a track options overlay, which lets me go straight to the artist page of whatever artist I'm listening to. So if I have like, Rohnert Park by Ceremony as a playlist, I can use that to get straight to their artist page. It's not exactly elegant, but it's faster than searching.

We are hunted is pretty nice I think. The emerging chart is all I ever listen to with it and I've found a few good artists every time I've done a run through the chart.

So I tried the free month of premium offer so I could check out the iPhone app, but when I try playing an album, it just hangs after playing one track. It says it's starting the next but nothing happens and I have to go forward and back to get it to start playing again. Do other people have this problem?

I haven't had that problem with the iPhone app, though I've had a problem with the iPhone "remote" app (seperate app) where I can't play a full album because it defaults back to whatever the most recent playlist on my computer was. The normal iPhone app works just fine for me though, I've been using it for months.

I'm not certain, to be honest. I think they'd have to build in support for the d-pad and add the flags that make it ~~*GOOGLE TV READY*~~~

That said there's so few people with a Google TV device (I think the Verge just reported that maybe a million have been activated) that Spotify just can't be bothered. Hell the Android app STILL has that bug that stops it from advancing to the next track if you seek to different place in the song you're currently listening to.

Is there someway to look at the most popular songs in a particular genre? I like the "Top Lists" but sometimes only want to see the top tracks of a particular genre.

edit: found a bit of a workaround. Apps -> Billboard Top Charts -> Basic Genres are there (r&b hip hop, country, rock). Was looking for more of a top listened to in Spotify category list. Sort of how Itunes has it.

I'll second this, £5 a month Spotify Unlimited + We Are Hunted + Spotify's 100 downloads for £50 system has changed the way I discover music forever.

Rolling Stone's app is quite nice, too. And The Guardian's. Oh, and last.fm.

All I'll need is Earbits to make a Spotify app and I'll be set!

So I managed to create a Spotify account without Facebook through Spotify's partnership with Teliasonera (Finnish ISP and operator). Apparently it's possible to put a Spotify Premium subscription as part of your phone bill with Sonera. On Sonera's site I got the option to either create a new account or add the subscription to an existing account. Choosing to create a new account allowed me to pick an original username instead of a string of random numbers you get from registering with Facebook.

The account works like any other account created before mandatory Facebook integration. This means I finally got a Spotify account created for my parents who absolutely refuse to use Facebook.

Spotify has deals with Telia in Sweden and Virgin Media in the UK as well so it might be possible to create non-FB Spotify accounts through them.

okay, all of the sudden I have all sorts of random people (from other countries, usually) that have shown up on the right hand side of Spotify where it shows what tracks your friends are listening to. I have not added these people to my people list at all. I do not care what they're listening to or what they added to their playlist and I want to get rid of this info -- unfortunately, reading the Spotify FAQ or searching in the help section has yielded no answers and I'm quite frustrated.

Someone please help.

e: looks like a clean re-install of Spotify fixed it for me, though others on the help forums said that didn't work for them.
