Remember when everything was EXTREME!!!!? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqgJ6wzSW8k This is catchy as gently caress. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_QliszDyZ8 That Youtube comment is right, this does look like Rob Liefeld's GI Joe. Heck, the song even goes "EXTREEEEEEEEME!". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEpCUB8IjzM That "extreme" is a bit more appropriate here, since the show managed to be actually terrifying at times.

That guy was well-aware of how crap the show was and tried to have fun. Watching episodes today, the guy makes subtle fun of how bad the kids are doing on the games. "That was a pretty big coin you missed, but you still came real close to getting it." "Try using the jump button when you come to holes so you can jump over them."

Wow, I saw the title of the video and immediately the theme song ran through my head. Paul Jennings was great! The early 90's smelled like this to me I think it was the first perfume for almost every girl my age. I recently got a sample of it for old times sake, and it's loving gross. Or at least it reminds me of being a teenager which was pretty gross. I'm sure the scent added to the allure of my hypercolour t-shirt and scruchied hair.

general posted:Oh man, through the nickelodeon videos, I found the old Nickelodeon Magazine commercial. Fun fact: the girl with the bowl cut in this commercial is Alexis Krauss, the singer of Sleigh Bells. There was a big expose about it a few months back. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Thunder in Paradise yet. Wrestling was the poo poo back in the early 90's and kids would buy loving anything that was vaguely related to it. TV producers were well aware of this fact and convinced the makers of Baywatch to make a show about Hulk Hogan and Chris Lemmon living in a Disney resort in Florida, getting into wacky hijinks, and serving as mercenaries with a superpowered boat named Thunder. In one episode, they kidnap a man dressed as Fidel Castro from his country because he was pushing "drugs." His lackeys retaliate by taking Hulk Hogan's daughter's elementary school hostage and shooting a bunch of books that were going to be donated to the library. This is one of the more sane episodes. My personal favorite is the one where Hulk has to fight a voodoo shaman who, through the magic of early 90's greenscreen technology, makes his face keeps appearing on other people's heads and laughs menacingly. One of the best parts of the show was the constant cameos of other wrestlers. Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake and Jimmy Hart were constantly hanging out on the beach the main characters went to, and Jimmy Hart even sang a couple of times. The villains of the episode were usually played by minor WWF villains like Earthquake and Tugboat and the same actors were reused in several episodes. The show absolutely bombed and was cancelled after its first season. Strangely enough, however, it went on to do really well in Germany. Here's a trailer for the first TV movie. It is so 90s it's painful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0LTbt2evGw Here's a clip of the German dub. It's arguably better than the English version. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I51Xk1xaDi8 Lionsgate released a DVD collection a few years back, but it only has the three TV movies. As far as I know, the entire series has never been released in English.

1990s music has always been a part of my life growing up. I always end up singing along to them or just shake my rear end whenever I have to pop a jam. The videos themselves were questionable, but then again it's the 90s The Fugees - Killing Me Softly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7YAEWrnOtrY KWS - Please Don't Go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60fqp2rLUR4 This video is always my favorite. I love the way it was filmed and the people in them are having fun during Apartheid. Janet Jackson - Got 'till It's Gone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AnyqVRijCNw The 90s were also the era of "Supermodels". They seem to be everywhere and then soon replaced by pop stars and actresses in the media. It didn't take long for Rupaul to join in and make the song Supermodel. MrGreenShirt posted:Another nostalgic Australian show! God yes, I still love that song, just because of the nostalgia. For some reason Dutch TV showed a lot of Australian shows. I also remember one which was about this boy and two of his friends (girl and wacky guy, of course) coming across some sort of portal which his dad (being a scientist) had created. Maybe they created it themselves with his dad's technology, I don't know. He got transported to this medievil fantasy world in which the elite (led by a real bitch) had access to technology like steampunkish airships and most importantly: armor with crystals in them, so they could rub their forearms together and throw ball-lightning around. I still remember some of the storylines quite vividly, but for the life of me I can't remember what it was called. It was awesome. I remember one scene in which some farmer's kid and his family were arrested and put in jail, and he had learned some 'magic' which consisted of showing his family how magnets worked. Also, the main character fell in love with a girl from the other world and at one point took her back to our world. She freaked out when she saw some girl get into an elevator and some old lady get out the same one a little later. She didn't want to be made old! I loved that show so much when I saw 10. e: Found it, Spellbinder! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpeEVfJUXaE Taeke has a new favorite as of 21:49 on Mar 24, 2012 |

I actually think a big aesthetic marker would be the release of the ipod. Not necessarily because of what it did, but by how it introduced that white, minimalist aesthetic that really took off, in contrast with the xtreme, color blocked nineties. Even nineties futurism tended towards black angular stuff. I'm probably wrong about it being the ipod that started the wave on this aesthetic shift, but that's what it is in my head.
