“An excellent play by Boyington!” Fisher exclaimed ebulliently, “Antonin was gearing up for a reversal—to try to catch him from behind, and he turned the tables with his quick stand. I’ve never seen a `Mech spring up from a fall that quickly and I don’t think Antonin has either. Still, that Thunderbolt is in a bad way—he’s prone and that’ll limit his mobility; and if Ken and Antonin put aside their differences they could pick him apart before he can finish them off. Still, the Thunderbolt’s a tough design from our friends at Earthwerks. Earthwerks: No, you shut up.”

The Axeman, destroyed through physical combat. Oh, the bitter irony of it all.

Holy crap, this turned into a clusterfuck right quick, huh? Makes for damned good television, though! Damned if that Centurion isn't making a showing and a half, too - for someone that many observers considered the favorite to get eliminated first, getting a kill on the Axeman is a serious feather in his cap. Go Felime go! The oddsmakers believe in you!

Wait, if my PPC connected with the T-bolt's RA (which was already blown off), shouldn't the damage have transferred to the RT? That's at least another crit check right there.

Kinda expected that to be honest. With that leg and my luck, I reckoned that the next kick would finish me. Still, I managed to use the hatchet and I managed to spread some major pain during the last rounds including a nice little gently caress-off to our candidate from Skye. This is getting exciting. I want to say Catapult has a good chance of actually winning the whole shebang, but Centurion has done better than expected. I'm still banking on Boyo who wisely has stayed out of it up until now. He's got a good chance to wipe out both the remaining mechs and remain the last mech standing.

It's been pretty incredible how every match just manages to get this tense. No running away now. May the best man win!

To the Centurion too, which I recall being more or less voted "most likely to die first" at the start. Gotta love it when the dice decide to generate their own narative. At least the Axeman went down blowing the limb off a mech with the AC/20. Though if the Centurion goes on to actually win the thing I'll die laughing.

This is going to go fast and bloody from here on out, and we couldn't have asked for a better mix of relative underdogs going into this thing!

No insult intended, sorry. And yes, he did the cat-and-mouse game extremely well or no dice in the world would save him. I do find it somewhat amusing though his left leg took enough damage to be only somewhat better off than the Axeman; if he gets shot down via left leg damage too the irony will be complete. Of course, if he gets his butt to partial cover he can deal with that weakness at least.

It could be that only one of the conspirators is still alive - the deal would still be kept secret, since the knowledge of it could change people's plans. I'm betting that Felime was one of the two involved - that Centurion needed every bit of help there was.

One of the SR freelancers 'Ancient History' (I have forgotten his real name) disclosed his rates of pay after the Catalyst/Shadowrun payment hilarity and he was getting paid between 3 and 5 cents a word, which I gather is the RPG standard.

Oddly enough, I'm the one with the most gun, but probably the least survivability. The thunderbolt is tanky enough to take some hits, but it's got nothing with any range. The catapult's almost a zombie at this point. Not enough ammo to take out that torso location in an explosion(though it would probably make the pilot KO). And it has its PPC left.

What happens this turn will likely decide the game. If the Thunderbolt tries to get me, it will probably kill me, but I'll hurt it, and the catapult will probably get away and get a few turns of good firing with that PPC, probably enough to get him the win. If the Thunderbolt chases the CAT, it risks my guns going after it, but it can probably weather the storm, and I'm going to have a harder time escaping to somewhere with clear firing lines if it kills the CAT. If the CAT goes after me, it's probably giving the thunderbolt the game, as he wants to get to effective PPC range and away from mlas. Same for me.

I'd probably put the odds at 5:4:3 for the CAT:CN9:TDR right now. CAT has the survivability to take hits and enough gun to pull a win in the long term. TDR's in a bad spot to get at the CAT and doesn't have the guns for a ranged duel. And I'm pretty much dead whenever Longinus wants me dead, with only the threat of the CAT getting away giving me a chance. Even given that, it's all up to the dice from here, and secret deals could turn things upside down if both conspirators are still alive.
