My brother-in-law just posted a picture on Facebook of a mall directory from the 90s, which brought back a lot of memories. I think one thing from the 90s that doesn't really happen anymore is the whole idea of a "mall culture," kids don't really hang out at the mall in this day and age. Then again we have a tiny, lovely-rear end mall, so that just might be my area. Treasure Mountain! This  educational game came out when I was 4. Apparently I had an irrational fear of the elves. I could not have told you that five minutes ago... but when they appeared in the video, I gave an involuntary shiver and a sense of dread came flooding back. My subconcious hatred has survived for something I haven't seen in 20 years... Malls are still big where I live, but that's because it rains constantly (Pacific northwest) and we have built really amazing elevated subways (skytrains) to all the major ones. Entirely separate skylines are rising around them. e.g. Burnaby's Metrotown mall (circled). Nothing was there in the 80s, now has a skyline that rivals every other city in western Canada besides Vancouver (distant top left).

The two malls by me have a "CODE OF CONDUCT" sticker on every door, including "groups of 4 or more minors will be asked to disperse or leave the property," because clearly any group of kids larger than 3 are a gang. Sometimes I wonder if management is trying to put the mall out of business.

I watched the first 3 Scream movies today. I wish the second two stayed as 90's as the first one.
