Finally got around to listening to the album. Love the concept, and thought it was pretty on par with most other Homestuck albums. The best part was recognizing Well Manicured Man's Handmaid song right off the bat. Really, all along it was never a question of whether your songs would get on the album, but how many.

I cannot stop listening to Iron Infidel or get it out of my head. I am such a sucker for pretty harmonies, and when you add in the actual meaning of the song my brain just kinda melts. Teal Seer, Violet Prince, Fuchsia Witch, and Temporal Shenanigans are also pretty great, plus Olive Rogue of course. :33

I just poked around the Homestuck last.fm page out of curiosity and the comments re: the fanalbum are pretty rich-- One person is actually pissed because the Vriska themes were not badass enough/had little to no electric guitar. This thread has spoiled me. Now that I think about it though, Cobalt Thief's intro is sort of giving me a Miyazaki-ish vibe. Not that that's bad or anything, just an observation. Both Iron Infidel and Your Universe are still giving me chills as well.

I guess some people are speculating that, since Homestuck returns 4/13 and the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic is 4/14, that Hussie is going to sink a ship. Either literally, as in the battleship that John, Jade, and Davesprite are on in the same place as Lord English, or figuratively, as in a romantic shipping. Seems unlikely, but I'm mentioning it anyway. edit: Seems extra unlikely because the Titanic sunk on the 15th, not the 14th. :/

You can hear the same rangy airy guitar in a lot of Crush 40's songs as well (the guy who plays guitar for that band, Jun Senoue, also being the person that composed the music for Sonic Adventure). It's a pretty great sound, although their lyrics are just a little bit too for me these days.

Moving on, I really hope we get the horse noises / ambient music from the latest flash on Volume 9 when that eventually comes out. I'm dead serious; I think the horse sounds are hilarious but the ambient music part is relaxing enough for me to just let it loop while taking a nap or something. I'm going to have terrible horse-demon nightmares aren't I?

Actually that's kind of funny, but in a trainwreck-in-progress sort of way. (Besides the last one, why the gently caress would you post that) Basically what's happening for anyone who doesn't want to even click them is this: 1. This guy got the idea to make a homestuck "erotic film". 2. The MSPA team literally immediately shoots the idea down. The email sent was some variant of "jesus christ what the gently caress has to be wrong with you to want to do something like this". 3. Another person, seeing all of this unfold decides that they can't go on without this and decide to restart the project anyway. 4. The guy responds to a question, explaining that he recognizes that it's against the MSPA team's wishes but doesn't care because "they didn't make it, Hussie did". He then goes on to use the classic defense of "If you don't like it, don't watch it. If I saw or heard about this unfolding, I would probably laugh and move on. I wouldn't post about it on a public forum. Homestuck is apparently trying to compete with MLP for worst fanbase, but that doesn't mean we have to bring it in here. Seriously why the gently caress is that last link in there, that's what takes that post from "laughing at homestuck fans being retarded" to "here is my porn, let me show you something funny I found".

In comparatively better news, Homestuck lost to Gunnerkrigg Court in the final Four of this Webcomic tournament. I'm rather surprised, but it seems that GC is good and has a pretty big following all on it's own. Those with nothing better to do should consider giving it a read during this HS downtime. Edit: And also consider giving it a vote, because it's up against some poorly-drawn fetish comic. Midnight Raider fucked around with this message at 02:50 on Apr 7, 2012 |

Goblins isn't a fetish comic, but it is poorly drawn. It's just one of many Dungeons and Dragons parody comics, and there are others that do it better. Gunnerkrigg Court definitely deserves to win that matchup.

Also glad that Hussie got some more people reading it. I don't like Gunnerkrigg as much as most of SA, but it's a very good comic.

Judging by the comments, the only people voting for Goblins are people who haven't actually read Gunnerkrigg Court. I'll admit to not having read Goblins in its entirety, but the bits that I've read kind of...creeped me out? Not just the art style which is unexceptional, but the actual content of the comic. Maybe I found a particularly bad arc but there was just a bit too much gore and blubbering for my tastes.
