Thinking of upgrading from my current 17" Viewsonic monitor to a 23", and have narrowed it down to either the Dell U2312hm or the Viewsonic VP2365-LED. I know the Dell is recommended in the OP, but was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Viewsonic.

Looks like a pretty good alternative to be honest, it's still e-IPS, has a height adjustable stand... Honestly, it probably has the same panel. Even has a 3-year warranty. If you like Viewsonic then it's probably going to be fine. I have no experience with it though.

I'm finding it really hard to find a decent 27" monitor in the UK that has decent reviews for around the £200 mark, Dunno if i should just spring for a 24" monitor and get a better one.

If the catleap we've been making GBS threads ourselves over is available in the UK, it might be attainable for not too much more than that.

It comes with a power brick. Normal Kettle lead though! It has a single DVI cable with it and it doesn't have the 4 pins for the VGA. I am running mine through a HDMI adapter and i am sure that would work from the Xbox. I have had some issues with splitting DVI (sometimes they need the same resolution) but for the price its worth buying 2!

Got a BenQ XL2420T to play games on with some sweet 120 Hz goodness. I had never heard of BenQ but all the information online seemed to say that it was a pretty solid monitor for gaming. I wanted something with 120 Hz and I refused to buy that awful looking orange acer monitor on newegg. http://www.pcmonitors.org/monitor-reviews/benq-xl2420t

I have got myself in a muddle with monitor adapter cables... I keep trying to buy the cheapest cable to make my 27" monitor work on my Macbook Pro and it driving me nuts! The Crossover (korean) Monitor I have only accepts DVI. Its the DVI with no VGA pins on it. I have a mini DP to DP, HDMI and DVI adapter and this runs my TV fine through HDMI. The DVI does not work at all. I obtained a HDMI to DVI adapter and this again doest run the monitor. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Should I bin both these adapters and buy an active mini DP to DVI adapter?

HalloKitty posted:You can't really compare a 1920x1080 TN panel to a 2560x1440 IPS panel Agreed! 27" 1080P displays are terrible if you actually want to use it as a monitor. The dot size is too big and you end up looking all over the screen because everything is just blown up. A small TV/secondary video monitor, sure, but nowhere near the quality of a 1440P display.

You're going to have to get an active dual-link DVI adapter of some sort.

I used a 1080P 27" Samsung monitor for 3 months and it drove me insane. I ended up getting a 24" 1920X1200 Dell and relegating the Samsung to movie duty.

I have a question about display resolutions. I have my PC hooked up to a 32" with an hdmi cable, and the display options let me put the resolution up to 1920x1080. Way down on the resolution list, it shows 1280x720 and marks that as the "recommended" resolution. I've never had a monitor where the recommended wasn't the maximum resolution. Am I doing something wrong by going above that?
