Yeah, I liked all three series but the first one gives this excellent Shakespearean air of timeless brilliance - all purely focused on the deviousness of the character and his strategies. Then before you know it there's tanks coming out of housing estates and you wonder what the gently caress happened.

On the telly they always go on about how the fast paced quick potting game is what the viewers want to watch, but gently caress that, I love me a big hour long safety battle. I can't be the only one?

I like a scrappy game. Much more human than sitting down in awe for 10 minutes of perfect positional shots and dead-on cuing.

I saw a really good west end star get denied and while I thought it was harsh she wasn't really much better than the other auditionees.

I don't really see the comparison to be honest.

Much like Jimmy White was for years after his last appearance in a Crucible final.

I think the trouble is mainly that you get bored of the gruelling practice regimes before you're physically unable to play the game to the same standard anymore, which isn't true of most sports.

Anyone watch the first 2 episodes of The Bridge on BBC4? Seems fairly engaging so far what with the motives of the killer.

Yeah definitely to a certain extent, but Ronnie and Jimmy definitely have that special crowd drawing factor which draws comparisons. Nobody turned up to watch Stephen Lee when he had to qualify. That Ronnie 5min 147 break is still one of my favourite things to watch.

Also, I'm getting fairly little traction from the playing with the distinctions between two countries, don't even know the stereotypes. I'll probably still watch it through, as I love a long-form murder mystery.

I guess that the fact that nobody does is just a testament to how unlikeable he is. It's like he oozes anti-charisma. Ninja: And Ding is great.

With the killer it kind of makes sense to be 'omniscient' seeing as he has been planning it for 3+ years As for Saga I dunno the character for me at least seems to be more interesting than other similar characters. Especially showing her life where she seems content (bar sex etc) rather than having her be a sad loner.

This new Channel 4 impressions show looks absolutely terrible, from the advert it seems like every sketch has to start with 'Hello, I'm [x]!' or else you won't know who it's supposed to be. When was the last time an impressions show was actually good (if ever?) They're not even satirical any more. Hell, they're not even funny - I think all they expect from the audience from the audience is a grunt of vague recognition of who is being impersonated.
