I used Scorched brown though, I think it looks better on super bright yellow. I've got a lot more work to do though

Looks pretty awesome, I love yellow! How do you get it so bright? When I still played W40K I tried to do an Iron Warrior theme for my Chaos Marines, trying to do the yellow chevrons made me want to abuse myself (and not in the good way).

With my Cryx, I'm doing Purple / Gold with some yellow where appropriate and what I've actually found is the P3 Yellow Ink is really strong, I can practically just paint things with that but I'd go through it too quickly if I did a lot.

Whenever I pick up a new faction I'd love to do something bright yellow like that, so any tips would be awesome :)

Paint it over white primer. Use a yellow foundation paint from the GW range, they are decent.

I suppose that was probably my issue- I sprayed my Chaos Marines black, then boltgun metal then tried to do yellow paint over that. Never really tried yellow since, aside from these little bits with the yellow ink.

It came out well enough on my Bloat Thrall which I posted a few pages back where I actually based it purple, then did Menoth Base White over that, then the yellow ink.

My blog has a decent break down on the process before I changed a couple of things, but the basics are the same. No step by step guide yet though I should make one for the Minuteman I'm doing next.

Here's the end result: http://awfulpaintjob.tumblr.com/post/19277400463/pretty-sure-this-is-what-im-going-with

I prime white, then basecoat a 1:1 mix of golden and sunburst yellow (the old, two brightest GW yellows, not sure on their new names) and spray it on with an airbrush.

All the metal and black areas I paint black, then start going crazy with the sponge and scorched brown. The metal areas I go over with 1:1 mix of boltgun and tin bitz, and the black 'trim' I chip with Chainmail.

I picked up some chalk pastels, ground them up and mixed them with isopropyl alcohol and slap it on for dusting. Make sure you varnish before weathering with alcohol otherwise it'll wipe paint off. After that, I varnish again and finish the little details.

No, that's just crit knockdown. Crit devastation is when everything gets slammed (or maybe it's pushed, I don't have the text in front of me) d6".

They're thrown. I now have this ability burnt into my memory after a game last Saturday where a Mule threw three Titans 6" with one shot, right into my unit of Reivers.

I still won that game, but seriously, gently caress the Mule, and gently caress Conquest if he has that, as well.

Edit: Beaten by Ashcans, so gently caress his Mule, too.

Yeah... I've thrown four ones. You've been surviving without Crit Brutal? Gasp! I live off of that feat turn. I like Thunderbolt for making the Mule able to hit things, so sometimes there has to be a trade.

Critical Devastation is best for rules clarifications, though. I've never had an opponent just know what it does. Every time the Mule crits there is a 10 minute break to work out exactly what is going to happen. Worst rule.

iirc it's hark, conquest, behemoth, black ivan, two full units of wg, one ua (no rockets laffo), full kayazy + ua, kovnik joe, two units of reavers (no fenris or escorts).

I have no idea how hark is supposed to run all that stuff, and he's pretty much just asking for the kraken to demolish all that infantry with limited support.

I dont think either list is that bad, and most of the infantry is very self sufficient, outside of maybe having trouble with terrain.

Well I just picked up two Minutemen on the cheap and I'm trying to think of ways to include them in some of my lists. It seems like they'd be really, really good on eHaley's feat turn.

I tossed together this in a few seconds, I'll give it a shot tomorrow but I doubt it will be any good at scenarios, or anything really:

System: Warmachine
Faction: Cygnar
Casters: 1/1
Points: 35/35
Major Victoria Haley (*5pts)
* Minuteman (5pts)
* Minuteman (5pts)
* Centurion (9pts)
* Thunderhead (12pts)
* Squire (2pts)
Anastasia di Bray (2pts)
Captain Arlan Strangewayes (2pts)
Journeyman Warcaster (3pts)

Centurion + JR AS holds points. Thunderhead and Arlan take on annoying poo poo like Kayazys and IF Nyss hunters. The Minutemen fly around shooting stuff. I usually run this list with 10 HHFG and Rhupert instead of the Minutemen.

We agreed Black Ivan was fine but Behemoth is guaranteed to be dry basically every turn. No Wishnailer or even a Koldun Lord. It seems pretty thin even if Conquest makes his own focus.

EDIT: If he'd traded the second unit of WGI and the second unit of Doom Reavers for Fenris, a Koldun Lord, and, like, anything else (rockets and Wishnailer come to mind) he might have been okay. But this looks like PP was just trying to fit in as many bodies as possible in order to show off the Kraken's furnace ability.

Although it kind of looks like these are the dude's own models, so I just don't know.

Considering that both lists lack any mercs, have high model counts and look like huge armies, I think you're right. They seem to be going for theme more than anything, whilst giving the Colossals plenty of chances to show off by either having the Conquest blow poo poo up or having the Kraken eat people.

I'm curious as to whether they'll post the rules for either Colossal in the NQ.

Theyre definitely not studio models, so I assume its just two guys playing "friendly" lists against each other. The Coven list is OK but not great either, imo.

Then again, this is all predicated on not knowing what colossals actually do.

Ashcans

Let's do the space-time warp again!

Yea, they are using their own models and just made whatever lists they felt like playing (that involved a Colossal, obviously). One of the players talked about it on the PP Forums:

PPS_Will posted:

No studio painters. Those paint jobs are Ed and my's own handiwork respectively and the models represent our personal armies. Ed's Cryx force actually contains models he's had since he started playing WARMACHINE way back in Escalation days.

and

quote:

For NQ battle reports the players involved are free to design their own lists around whatever models we may want to feature in the battle report. I picked Harkevich for a number of reasons, but mostly because he is my favorite Khadoran warcaster. The fact that he is awesome when paired with the Conquest was just more icing on the cake

So what you are seeing is Ed and my's personal approach to building our armies. I think he would completely agree when I say that the lists we took are exactly like lists we'd take to play anywhere. I certainly can't wait to throw this army on the table at Lock & Load.

Edit: I wonder if they did a couple playthroughs and picked the best match to report. I know that even in the old days before GW battle reports were quite the marketing pitch they are now, they would play a couple to get a good report. Unseen Lerker does it too. No one really wants to read the battle report where someone fucks up first turn and killboxes themselves.

I haven't played much of it but a lot of games (even ones where there's something else going on) starting on bottom of the second or something if your caster gets within 10" (8"?) of the edge, you lose. It's the most common scenario; it's simple enough that you don't really need to look it up. (Well, I do.)

In the latest tournament rules, Killbox can be added to any scenario as a modifier. And yes, it means if your warcaster/warlock ends their activation within 10" of any table edge, you immediately lose. Note the wording, it's on your turn, so if an opponent slams/throws you out of the killbox, you don't lose unless you don't get back in on your turn. It prevents models like Caine/Sloan/Sevvy/etc. from running away forever around the board edge and drawing the game out. It also doesn't srat being tracked until the end of your second turn.
