Seriously, doesn't your monk alone have a ton to spam with stun kick on the quick second cooldown, flying kick, and all the other crap that only lasts like 30 seconds a fight? I'm lazy enough that I macro my g15 to do that for me half the time, playing 4 characters just sounds stressful (then again, my shaman is so low maintenance to box that I can do everything for him with about 4 G-keys)

My monk is the only one who requires constant-ish pushing. The other 3 are ultra low maintenance. Shaman is obviously low maintenance, bard requires one key press per fight unless I need to mez (in which case I don't care about DPS buttons at that particular time), SK is so geared that he requires 1-2 key presses per fight. I'm not saying EVERY 4box combination is easy, but mine in particular is maybe 5-10% harder than one character, and I think anyone who's seen me in action would happily agree I play all 4 nearly to their fullest.

Proper macro/hotkey construction is all you really need unless you're crazy and trying to play a bunch of extremely click-intensive classes. I can't imagine what I'd do differently on any one of my four if I weren't playing the others. ISBoxer just makes it so easy to spend an hour coordinating your hotkeys then dominate.

What? I subbed and don't see a bag to claim. What is the called in the claim window?

Also, spirit shrouds. Is there any good reason to use these other than novelty? I have a 62 mage and just recently started a second account to box a wizard with him, and the wiz is up to level 30. I thought it might be neat to shroud the mage down to 40 or so and group with the wiz, but then I lose out on the high level baby sitter and the 25 point damage shield for my merc. Plus then the mage could grind out some AA xp too, while the wiz levels. Is there any compelling reason for or against this? I don't really know the mechanics of how all this works and everything I can google is at least 4 years outdated.

The shrouded XP is REALLY low unless you're using it to exploit by mass farming a TON of lower level mobs at once. You're probably better off speed-wise just using the babysitter, but if you're having fun shrouded, then go for it :)

No idea since I haven't been on in a week, but if the 12th anniversary group mission is still in, it's still possible as long as you have a high level character to mass slaughter level 65s for your shrouded PL bros.

That 24hr maintenance probably took out the anniv stuff, but otherwise it's definitely still possible...just genocide some robots

drat... I miss all the good stuff.

On another note..

So as a ranger is it better to be dual wielding or using a 2hander? What are the advantages of each? Also, do people actually tank with a 1h+shield? I kind of remember that not being the case but that was a long time ago. AND last question... rangers are capable of tanking correct? I don't mean for high-end raids or anything of course.

MrTheDevious

Dual wield. Rangers get basically nothing at all for 2hand. You'll want to dual even over using a bow unless you're disc burning. As far as I know, there are no advantages whatsoever to 2h > dw for rangers.

Rangers are capable of tanking in a pinch or straight tanking content they outgear/outlevel, but aren't capable of being a group's primary tank for on-tier content. They're about equivalent with monk tanks in that they can get the job done, but a real tank is hands down FAR better. No group your tier is going to be taking you as their tank instead of an NPC mercenary, if that's what you're asking.

Paladins/SKs use shields for tanking 100% of encounters that are dangerous, and with Shield Specialist it's even better. I'm not sure about Warrior tanking, because I've never seen one do it, but shield AC is overcap for everyone, so I'd assume it would increase their survivability, too. My SK loses about 1500 DPS when using a shield, but gains 400ish AC which is all overcap. It's an extremely noticeable survivability increase to the point I don't bother using a 2h on nameds unless I'm firing off my lifetap skills.

RMA'd video card should be here in the next few days and I'll drag another group through J5s as per lotor's request, figure out who needs them still :)

Have room for 4 non-healers or 5 if there's a healer in the mix. I doubt I really need a healer at this point, but I'd rather not fail the boredom that is Murdunks due to a couple bad rounds. Same deal as usual, get your thrall hails done and I'll do the rest, because gently caress you if you think I'm waiting while everyone does hails

If we have 5 non-healers and one of them already has Murdunks, I can do that as well since Murdunks is the only instance where I can't heal with Shaman outside of the group.

Yeah 75 min for the quest, though getting the hails done at 75 is an exercise in patience and repeat deaths unless you can FD/blur.

Hence why I refuse to wait on that drat hails portion. It sucks. I can get all the rest done no problem, but there's no speeding up the hail portion.

As a necro, you'll have a MUCH easier time than most. The hails have a 50/50 chance each of counting for the quest vs. getting you attacked. If you're attacked by a thrall, instantly FD and wait 3 mins, then you can try again. Everyone else has to just die :(

I guess I'm leveling the "slow" way, but I've gotten to lvl40 pretty quickly. If anyone is just getting into the game(again), check your achievment window, under Hero>Progression and Advancement. It tells you all the "important" quests and the bigger acheivements deck you out in Consigned Defiant gear for your level. Pretty nice for broke newbies and, if you're like me, keeps you from feeling like you're "missing out on something important."

I guess I could just be grinding and selling stuff in the bazaar for the same effect, but I'll probably do that on my next toon.

I seem to be hitting some slight motivational snags in the game. I was pretty happy jamming along when I could still kill in old world/velious/luclin for dark blues at a pretty snappy pace. It seems everything past luclin/level 60ish in the game has like 5x the hp of previous content or something though. Getting 1% to level from dark blues isn't by itself a bad pace. It's a ton better than the old days (although I'm sure it'll get slower later). The problem is it takes a minimum of two minutes to actually kill one which makes it just a boring horrible slog.

I had a tough time from 58 to 65. Everything seemed to slow way down. After that though when zones like Paw and Plane of Fire open up, things pick back up again, especially once you start getting a decent amount of AAs.

I've hit a strange hole at 72. All the zones I was previously in like Sunderock are now pretty much lb and the next zones like Vergalid are too rough to exp in solo. I can't be arsed to box and I resent having the merc out sucking half my exp. I think Icefall is the place for me now but the zone is aesthetically boring and that actually means a lot to me when I have to spend so much time in it. Necro btw.

I think 60-80ish are the shittiest levels, especially if undergeared or underAA'd. Its this weird combination of mob HP going through the roof, player damage output still being low for a lot of classes, and most of the good spots being constantly camped. It's kind of like, if the hole/PoF/DSH are camped, you have to spend forever running out to the boonies for subpar exp. Whereas at 90+ there feel like so many more options and private instances like guardian/gyrospire.

The biggest plus about playing zek is a spot is never, ever camped, and even if it is you just murder the guy and take it

Giants have, since classic EQ, always had more hitpoints and hit harder than normal mobs. The giants in Gorukar are no exception, and I always recommend against xp'ing on them since they have so much HP and many of them have shaman buffs, including SOW.
