Technically, you could have a fourth physical character who's based on the Holy Strike active skill if you were really invested in having a full team of people who destroy demons by punching them to death. It's probably best to stick to two, however, and physical skills aren't so great until the second half of the game so there might not even be space for two physical characters until then. Near the end game I had two physical characters: the first was the MC with Multi-Strike, Multi-Hit, Piercing Hit / Drain Hit, Phys Drain, Phys Amp / Blitzkrieg and the second was Makoto with Samarecarm, Mediarahan / Attack All, Pierce, Phys Repel / Rage Soul. They both had a Dragon in their team and killed the end boss much faster than should be possible.

Not to derail the thread with an ADTRW question, but what version of Evangelion should I watch to get the story references? I've got Persona 4 on the way now. I never thought I would see an actual copy that cheap.

All this Devil Survivor 2 chat made me pick Devil Survivor Overclocked back up to try and beat it. Right now I'm stuck at some awful escort mission with loads of Jack Frosts that spam Charm on anything you attack but don't kill in that turn and it really isn't fun at all. Is the whole game going to be like this, because if so I'll just give up now. I actually had a lot of fun with the game up to this point, I'm just afraid the whole game is going to be full of missions like this, and I don't have the patience for that. edit: edited to be less mad at video games. So, some more Persona 3 inquiries. Yukari is level 37 and has a whopping two skills left to learn. Is this the game's way of saying "hey we gave you these spiffy new characters maybe use them", or am I missing something here? Because she will seriously fall behind on damage output and healing with her current stuff. Shinjiro just joined my team. I remember reading somewhere that he dies at some point. Is he a trap character, i.e. you give him tons of exp and then he leaves the party before the final boss and whoops you have to fill his slot with a level 20 character, or should I not worry about it?

Fuuka won't actually do her thing where she describes her new skills if this happens, though, so I got really confused by Oracle for awhile.

vilkacis posted:This made me laugh like an idiot. I'm going to save it so I can giggle at it again whenever I want. This seriously works way too well. Social Links are probably my favorite part of P3/4. I also love Tartarus, conceptually, and I really loved how thoughtful the integration of Tartarus into reality (down to certain party members being busy because of real-life things) over P4's version, where your entire day gets eaten up by the Midnight Channel. I don't get why people have to get angry about this poo poo, or talk about games they haven't played yet (I openly admit that I just cannot get my teeth into DS2 even though I bought and beat both DS and DSOC). I always viewed Social Links as a natural progression to Tales of's skits, and the "everyone gets to do something cool to tie up their loose ends" sequence in Chrono Trigger is one of the reasons that game is even playable in a modern context.

Well, I just came back from the cesspool of adolescent anxiety and anime known as Megaten Imagine If you were hoping for reduced prices on ingame crap, allow me to shatter your dream by saying that the prices in crowns is comparable to the prices you see in Areia games. As for content, I assume that Atlus would do something about that eventually, but they were too busy trying to get the game back up to add anything of substance. I'll keep you guys posted on it, but I am not holding too much hope.

I'll derive what entertainment I can before moving on. It does amuse me at this time. I am probably echoing the sentiments of a lot of people, but it is a shame that they took a good idea and ran it into the ground. Maybe when this is all over, someone can make a private server that can give this game justice. But that is a pipe dream at best.

So I'm just starting Devil Survivor 2, just finished the first real battle (fought with uber leveled tall lady) There's a lot of dialogue choices in this game already, and I started over with a FAQ to get the max affection bumps. Is this a good way to handle that stuff, or should I just kind of wing it and see what happens? That's probably a weird question, but I'm just kind of wondering what sort of effect that will have on the game. Will I just not have as many choices for ending stuff or something? Any help here would be appreciated.

PurplieNurplie posted:So I'm just starting Devil Survivor 2, just finished the first real battle (fought with uber leveled tall lady) Don't use a FAQ. It's really easy to level up characters you like. Just talk to them from time to time and don't be an rear end in a top hat and you can max everyone easily. You'll have fewer choices for endings and characters in those endings. There is one case where a character can die if you don't make their fate reach a certain level. Level Io up to 3 or so ASAP and you'll be fine.

Man people who were saying the first dungeon and that first optional boss in Persona 4 were some of the harder parts of the game were right. Just rescued Kanji on the 22nd of May and found the bosses pretty easy, toughest dudes in the dungeon were those mages with the elemental spells that hit everyone and chain killed me a few times. Think I've got most of it down, probably gonna end up missing alot of the social link stuff though, too much stuff to keep track of and I'm not using a guide or anything. I only just realised exactly what having the right Persona with you does for S-links. Or I think I did, it makes them grow quicker right? One question since I'm about to get a new guy probably, is this one of those nice RPGs that has characters you aren't using level up with the dudes you don't use?
