What other game would have a bestiary with honest-to-god helpful tips, written by a horny bard playing spy? In other news, I've monkeyed around with this mod for the past hour, and it passes my rigorous inspection (years as a game tester have given me a pretty good regimen for bug-testing stuff). Dynamic HUD - Cleans up the HUD out of combat. I'm a sucker for dynamic UIs and stuff. First playthrough safe! Recommended!

From a Bygone Era Quest (Chapter 2)I'm still unable to access the cellar after completing the Kaedweani camp. I know I've done this before with Iorveth's path. I'm not sure if this is a change in the Enhanced Edition or if it's just a bug in my game. I'm playing the 360 version.

Is there a mod that makes picking up stuff easier because goddammit cdproject. You have to be at this perfect spot for the pick up prompt to show up and god forbid you move an inch from that spot because you will have to run away and run back in to find the pick up prompt to show up again. It is pretty much my only gripe with this game.

Can somebody recommend me some settings for my PC? i5 2500k @ 4.5 GHz 8 GB RAM 2x GTX 485 (SLI) Running at 1920x1080 (1080p). The system is fairly high-end so I tried "Ultra" (with Ubersampling disabled) but it really didn't run very good at all. What should I turn down/off?

I doubt that. It doesn't make any sense for them to do that. Maybe you guys are hitting the same bug.

Finished my first playthrough; I went Roche's path. Killed Henselt, let Sile die, killed the Dragon, let Letho go I have an autosave from after the final conversation with Letho, is that the save that I want to save to be able to import into Witcher 3? Also I couldn't afford many of the best weapons/armor because of buying sex. Just leaving that out there.

I've skipped the thread for fear of spoilers as well so forgive me if I come back asking any daft questions that may have been answered during the thread. If you liked Alpha Protocol, then you clearly don't mind questionable gameplay in the name of awesome story, in which case I'd recommend playing Witcher 1 first, if only because it's an amazing game that's hard to go back to, gameplay-wise, after playing 2. Has aged really well and still looks and sounds amazing, though.

The gameplay was certainly not great in AP, but at least it was snappy and when it wasn't, you were usually sneaking around. the gameplay in witcher 1 just drags pretty much at all times.

Yeah, much as I love the story and such of the first Witcher game the gameplay just was really quite dull and piss-easy, even on hard. I would kill for them to do a remake of it with Witcher 2's mechanics.

Samurai Sanders posted:That would be a massive undertaking, a better goal would be a mod for witcher 1 that, for example, does away with button press timing, and toggling sword styles and assigns different buttons for each type of attack, and things like that to make it less irritating to play. In fact I'm surprised there's not one already. It uses the Aurora engine (NWN1), and that's not really how that engine works. It's a wonder the combat was as involved as it was to begin with.

I'm pretty sure I just rendered Witcher 1 unwinnable. Because I helped the Squirrels in chapter 1, they killed Coleman. Because he's dead, I can't prove Vincent innocent to get a graveyard pass. The mysterious man I need to see in front of Thaler's house at night never appears, so I can't prove him innocent either. Shani is bugged so she thinks I never told her to do the autopsy. This means I can't get in the graveyard, meaning I can't get to the body, so I can't complete Anatomy of a Crime, so I can't get the last sephirot so I can move on with the tower quest.

You don't need to get into the graveyard itself for that quest. Have you tried speaking to the gravedigger? He should be working in front of the graveyard gate during daytime. Think you might need to give him some liquor as well, if I remember correctly. Once you've convinced him, he'll deliver the body to the hospital for you.

Play Roche's path and take a shot every time someone says whoreson. You'll be dead before the first Act is over.

Okay gently caress this, this is ridiculous. I'm in act 2 hunting harpies and I have no idea why they don't take the bait. I read all the books on harpies and maxed out my knowledge of them but not one takes the bait. Actually, one did take the bait but the counter never went up and I'm stuck on 4/7.

Which graphics settings don't hit the CPU at all? The CPU is clearly the bottleneck on my system and messing around with some of the graphics settings I didn't notice any particular drop in its (already not very good) frame rate. Which ones should I be trying out specifically?

Is there any way to do the mist section without Riposte on Dark mode? On Hard my companions live long enough to let me kill all the small enemies and I can handle the big guy by staying away, letting him charge and hitting him while he runs past me but on Dark the friendly npc's die before I even get to the enemy.

Look for a godmode mod or trainer. I'm serious. It's not worth the frustration. e: I was able to beat it after like 15 tries. I ran in with those useless companions and tried to get a couple hits on one of the enemies before they all died. After that I just circled the group waiting for an opening to attack, and whittled them down until only the draugir or whatever was left. Luck played a huge part in this, I think. It's probably the worst part of the game. folgore fucked around with this message at 14:44 on Apr 29, 2012 |

Are there any penalties to going into houses and looting them completely? Like is someone gonna get pissed over me stealing their 9 orens or whatever? I'm realizing that there isn't a lot of money to be had so far in the game (I'm at Floatsam), and now everything is just getting kinda overwhelming. Where the gently caress do I get my silver sword back?

I've found a minor thing that completely infuriates me When they add new information to the journal on characters, if it's one you have to scroll down to, the act of scrolling to it gets rid of the "New" marker, meaning that anything aside from the ones you see when the screen pops up, you have no idea if the information is new or not.
