So true. I fear something bad will happen, and he will be "off the show" soon. I'm trying to enjoy as much as I can, as when he left the Stern show (and the few months leading up to it), it became unbearable to me.

I get a little uncomfortable when Artie talks about how much he eats and what he eats, it sounds downright pornographic/masturbatory. And he doesn't seem to think anything's wrong with it- absolutely no self control whatsoever :(

I don't feel as bad, because at least he isn't talking about how great it was that Miles Davis locked himself in a barn to kick heroin. Or how Ray Charles said something-or-other about heroin. If he's not rhapsodizing about heroin, maybe he's not doing it.

I'm listening to last night's show, and Artie is telling this guy every pizza place to go to, which turns out to be every pizza place in New York. I'm going to be up in Englewood, NJ this weekend, and I'm thinking I have to get across the bridge to get a middle slice from a fresh sicilian so the moozadell runs down my arm like a normal youman being.

I haven't been able to catch much of N&A the past few weeks aside from the Wiz Khalifa interview, but when I was regularly listening Artie seemed to have an IDGAF attitude different to when he was on Stern. It detracted from good radio at points because he seemed to be an rear end in a top hat just to be an rear end in a top hat. One example is when the private investigator with the new OJ book was on.

Yeah. He seems to back off that attitude when it's a guest he respects.

He's also been pretty hostile the last few weeks. Some of his screaming rants have been a little too reminiscent of the arguments with Teddy, or the Sal/Richard confrontations. He even yells at those girls, too.

Well yeah, but it is obviously an addiction with somebody like Artie, it is his new heroin and I guess it is better than drugs, but still, dude is killing himself either way.

His Prader-Willi Disease story is ironically delicious.

Artie will be going on Howard in November to promote his book.

http://www.philly.com/philly/entertainment/20120430_Comedian_Artie_Lange_writes_about_suicide_attempt.html

quote:

COMEDIAN ARTIE LANGE has yet to discuss publicly his January 2010 suicide attempt but hopes to do so on the Howard Stern Show in November, when his book Crash and Burn is released.

Lange, who spent nine years on the Stern show, performs stand-up Saturday at the Tower Theatre with Nick DiPaolo, his partner on the syndicated “Nick and Artie” sports-talk show which airs 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. weeknights on 610 WIP. Tickets are still available.

“I think I’m at the place where I can do it. It would be a heavy thing,” says Lange about a hoped-for Stern visit. Fans have been waiting for Lange to appear on Stern’s show, and Artie says he and Stern wanted to make sure he was emotionally ready.

Sober since April 14, 2011, Lange says, “Toward the end it became so terrible trying to be f----- up 24/7.” His addiction led him to rehab after he tried to do himself in with a knife. His mother reportedly found him.

Lange, who co-starred with Norm Macdonald in the hilarious and underrated “Dirty Work,” says he was touched by the words of encouragement from fans who said hello at the Wells Fargo Center, where he recently caught Bruce Springsteen. But Lange’s finest Philly memory remains being cursed at and threatened by Eagles fans at a Springsteen show at Veterans Stadium, where Lange had dared to wear a Lawrence Taylor jersey.

So is this another 2 day week for Howard? Originally when Howard re-upped his deal with Sirius I was happy he was coming back but after a year I'm sick of this lovely schedule. The problem is that he's often only live for 2 or no days a week yet we still get the same crap guests, nobody in the Artie chair, more commercials and live reads, etc. That would be acceptable if they were live 4-5 days a week but it's pretty ridiculous to be listening to the same 2 days of content replayed over an entire week. There are still some really funny moments (the facebook jerk off guy was pretty hilarious last week) but as a whole the show is pretty bad.

Since we went to see AGT a few weeks ago my husband has been listening to Howard regularly (which is so exciting because we have been together for 10 years and this is the first time he has ever listened) and he has had a couple observations:

- Man, Howard is off a lot.
- Wow, he is really obsessed with anal and rear end in a top hat licking (no joke - he said this to me the other day)
- After hearing Ronnie's tough guy act during the Ugly App update: "Wait, Ronnie is that little guy who was standing in the aisle by Howard at AGT? The old dude?"

You should see the TV special of that appearance. Ronnie's shoving Sal and gets right in that guy's face, about as close as you probably are to your monitor right now, and screams at him. All the while the guy couldn't be more smug and relaxed about it.

I get the feeling Ronnie is somewhat right and the guy's a douche just using the show to make money but on the other hand he's a zero and an angry little midget mad at the world for anything and everything.

Ronnie is absolutely right, the guy just used the show to make half a million dollars with a lovely fake app, but the guy was on point and funny, so Ronnie will never get this across and he isn't smart enough to explain this to anyone without jumping up and down and looking like Scores Man.

e: with Spice leaving Bubba really has taken a nose dive. It's pothead/atheist/conspiracy followed by a news clip followed by Ned/Manson bit followed by commercials. Lather, rinse, repeat. IO is a disaster. Dangerous Conversation is 3 hours every night of stoners talking about conspiracies. All of the 6pm-8pm shows are garbage (except the rare occasion when they let Tuddle host his own show). Shannon is the one good show on the entire deal. I can't imagine IO can last much longer. Last year they managed to double their revenue (to a massive $1,645,000) but still lost the same amount of money they lost the year before (about $950,000).
