Are we really going to slide back down into this low quality muck again? Is this what every raps thread must become? I'm curious about the vinyl edition of KRIT Wuz Here: are the songs going to be different, or was he able to clear all the original samples? I know TSS had a contest at the time of KRIT Wuz Here's release for people to identify all the samples and win some free poo poo, so there's a fairly public listing of all the samples right there. I imagine that it would be fairly expensive to try to clear them

I get such a Devin the Dude/Willie Nelson vibe from that Riff Raff song. youngallah, I had no idea about what nature sounds has released in the past, so I didn't know what their practices were. Guess I'll have to pre-order and find out.

Boosie's murder trial starts tomorrow, and the DA is apparently going to enter lyrics as evidence:quote:His song, "187," in particular, is under a lot of scrutiny. Lil' Boosie recorded the controversial track with BG, another Louisiana rapper who has had his fair share of legal trouble. "Any n___a who ever tried to play me, they dead now," Boosie raps in his first verse. The prosecution specifically noted the use of "187," "murk," and "cake" as slang terms commonly used to describe murder and money. Honestly I doubt Boosie's ever getting out of prison, which is a shame. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFHDrZoUcbA

On a slightly related note, Arkansas was home to a pretty infamous HBO doc called Bangin in Little Rock which traces the Bloods and Crips from CA to AR. Here's the youtube in case anyone is interested, but you get to see some of the white kid Hoover Folk singing along to Dre and Snoop and so on. Nice little glimpse at 90s gang culture. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vk7iFwE5QSM

Sometimes Riff Raff doesn't even look like a real person to me. He looks like some kind of freestyle scientist from a parallel rap dimension. He is awesome, although I'm afraid I couldn't listen to any body of work of his, seems like it would be too inconsistent/unpolished. If I am wrong, I would like to be pointed in the right direction. Also I am probably a little late to this party but Future's album is pretty sweet. It pushes autotune-rap-singing over the cliff, to the point where it should be really annoying but just sort of transcends itself and becomes quite listenable.

Try and search the internet for some of his stuff; if you can find it, it's pretty chill. Anyways, Freddie Gibbs is dope, right. But personally, I think my favorite will be his first mixtape. I dunno why- it seemed maybe more raw, and he's tread the same kind of ground in his subsequent releases? Here's a dope song of his that I don't often listen to, it's on youtube but actually you should download the tape and play it in a stereo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-_WTXR9v9A
