If we're talking wishlists I would like a Space Theme based around colonization. There's a lot of stuff you could borrow from themes like Alien Conquest and Dino. Have both military and civilian vehicles and figures. You could even throw in some Pharoah's Quest or Atlantis style ruins of a previous civilization. Basically I'm thinking of the Alien Conquest Mobile HQ except in Dino colours with a lab and living quarters and some kind of military escort... on hoverbikes.

A combination Space-City colony theme would be amazing. Space versions of maintenance and construction vehicles/crews, a big spaceport as an analogue to the harbor/airport/train themes, living quarters and personal transports, possibly done in a bit chunkier, armored industrial style of ship than usual.

So I just got back from Disneyland and the Lego store there had just finished their renovation, it looks great! They also had series 7 minifigures, so I spent half an hour feeling them up and got a Space Marine, Valkyrie, Bunny, Bagpiper, Neptune, and Aztec Warrior.

The core building of the vehicles is fine, the flashy pearl gold swords on the jet and new tank and basically any pearl gold acessory on the set is just stuff tacked on a cool set. Try building one out but leaving the super ninja swords out and see how it looks.

I can't imagine a MOC I'd use them in, and the waxy non-ABS plastic they are made of is too bendy, so they don't even stay straight. I've bought a few of the kits for parts, and the wrecking ball crane is probably the only one I'd ever put together again. The minifigs are so-so, at least in the kits I have, which seems weird for an action figure-like line. The ninjas are decent despite being a bit plain, but I think the snake-guys lack personality compared to the Atlantis monsters, or some of the aliens. How popular is Ninjago? Do kids actually play the game associated with the theme, or just get them for the crazy vehicles?

Ninjago is ridiculously popular. I dont know if kids play the spinner games, but they definitely watch the TV show and wear the t-shirts. Its probably the most 'mainstream' popularity Lego has seen in decades.

One day while feeling for S6 minifigs I helped three moms pick out Ninjago sets for their kids. They had no idea what they were after, just that they wanted the Lego Ninjas. It's basically Ninjago, Friends, and Star Wars. Everything else is nigh-inconsequential.

Was in Walmart today getting a prescription filled, and picked up five Series 7 figs. Thought I'd try my hand at bag fondling. I was shooting for the Space Marine, because I want a loving army of them. I got one Marine, two tennis players, and two rock girls. I'm bad at this.

Now I have 5 bunny men because I forgot to check if the helmet had ears on top. Check out Death Springs, my free webcomic updated every Thursday!

Grabbed a batch of these off Bricklink, they don't seem to do all that much better than their plastic counterparts. Now I'm wondering if my best bet isn't to just slap one of these, another element of which I have none, on the back of each leg. Not very canon, but it wouldn't look terribly out of place. Do they actually have any friction or do they just slide?

Do they actually have any friction or do they just slide? You must have gotten some bum sockets then, because those sockets should be able to support 2-3 times the weight of a normal socket. That's what they've done for me, at least. Are you doubling them up?

Captain Invictus posted:They just slide. I'm quadrupling them. Bought 20 of the things in case some were worn, too, but so far they don't seem much different. I'm going to end up using them anyway, build it and see what happens. The only reason I was set on ball joins in the ankles was so I could be sure I could balance the MOC, which might be a moot point if I did a good enough job distributing the weight, in which case I can always fall back on click hinges. I would feel defeated, though . I don't know why I keep building mechs, I always seem to be running into this issue. afflictionwisp fucked around with this message at 02:03 on May 4, 2012 |

I have no idea how true this is, but it might have something to do with the color of the piece, maybe? I always had dark blue + white rubber sockets, not green + black. Again, don't know if that makes a difference.

I was up so I ordered the UCS R2D2, and then the UCS SSD. 20% off for the SSD likely won't be seen for a while and I just couldn't pay $500 for it in my mind. 20% off and using $100 VIP points? That made it ok. Oh well money doesn't make me happy but lego does!

Amazon.co.uk has the dinky little city police patrol car for half price at the moment. Not bad for £4, but I'm disappointed that you get a bear crossing sign but no bear. I will buy it anyway. I want me a lego bear. Thanks brickbadger It's obviously mostly about Star Wars today though. I'm tempted because you get a lot of extras if you spend £50 in the UK store... but if I had £50 to spend on Lego I'd probably get Earth Defence HQ instead. The big UK Lego thing is going on in Manchester at the moment and the first couple of days are "AFOLcon" with lots of speakers and stuff followed by public exhibition days. I'm only going to the latter with Junior in tow. But apparently the talks at the first day of the con were really interesting. I'm sure some photos will be circulating soon (check out Ninjago train prototype if you can find it!). One comment I've seen stated that at Lego HQ they printout a copy of the to 10 most expensive bricks on bricklink and the desigeners go out of their way to try and include them in future sets. Probably annoys speculators and hoarders but I thought it was a bit
