Where do I post about dudes like Hudson Mohawke, Lunice, Rustie, RL Grime, etc? Is there a Chicago House thread? What about Juke/Footwork/Trap? I want to post but I don't know where.

I've been listening to Otis Redding non-stop for the last two weeks and I need more of this sort of soul music. James Brown is no mystery to me and never really liked his stuff as much as Redding, but that's all the "soul" I know about. I wish I had like 10 more years of Redding but that's never gonna happen

Everytime someone asks for "soul" it's kind of non-descriptive, since you're talking about a genre that's strong across close to 3 decades with a *huge* stylistic difference based on region and time. Soooo given Otis Redding, here's some solo male Southern Soul? Geater Davis: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pS8hqWFI5ng Lee Moses: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BpAbyIIqL4 OV Wright: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFUMKvNvsV8 Early Al Green (Pre-Hi & Hi Era): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1vfVNGL5Wk But I mean, there's major names Sam Cooke, Solomon Burke, Wilson Picket, etc. The early Atlantic and Stax lineups, etc, etc.

Yeah I'm sorta gettin' into territory that's way off from what I usually listen to (punk, hardcore, etc) so I'm not sure what to ask about! These are excellent places to start, so I'm gonna absorb this stuff and then see where it takes me. Thanks guys!

I've been listening to Lole y Manuel a lot and am looking for more progressive flamenco-centric music. I'm not averse to more traditional flamenco, but the odd changes and rhythms that Lole y Manuel employ really hook me in. Any suggestions to a newcomer to this kind of music on where to start? http://youtu.be/3PcI3k5LRT8

I'm looking for bands similar in sound to Kings of Leon. I really liked their first three albums, though the long break before Come Around Sundown came out was a bit too much (and left me fairly disappointed). Some of of my favourites are: California Waiting Molly's Chambers Genius Slow Night, So Long Knocked Up King of the Rodeo Red Morning Light Beach Side The End If this request is too vague please let me know.

I haven't really checked the thread in full, but I was recently alerted to the awesomeness that is The Cumshots' "A Life Less Necessary" and, from this Encyclopedia Metallum directed me towards Entombed's "Wolverine Blues" which is also pretty great. So, can anyone direct me towards some music that's similarly brutal and tuneful?

I'm looking for some music of a dream pop/electronica/post rock persuasion, but I have some specific qualities I'm looking for. I really enjoy M83's "Hurry Up We're Dreaming," but I especially like Intro. It gives a sense of scale with its broad, ethereal synths and makes for an epic album opener. Who should I look into if I want someone whose entire concept revolves around that sort of soundscape thing? I also like Sigur Ros, EITS, The American Dollar, etc. I really emphasize the "dream" in "dream pop" - I want something I can put on at full volume and feel like I'm floating between universes or something. I hope this is specific enough. I guess the word "ethereal," which I used before, describes what I'm looking for pretty well.

I need some dark, intense-sounding trip-hop type music to help me get into the mood for writing a book I'm working on. Everything I find through my own searching is either too upbeat or too fast. Along these lines: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4vgzMRYLc4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVh-zijNO0A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiK2JlBpzvI http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQlxg7Zkr-A An album full of this kind of stuff would be preferable but if I collect enough recommended tracks I can also just make a playlist. I've already got the entire Puscifer/NIN/How to Destroy Angels catalogues, before anyone mentions those. I need something new
