I also want to go to Outlook in the future, but it's getting huge almost in the sense like Coachella has. If I did get a legitimate shot at going, I've talked to a few people about splitting a rental house as opposed to doing the camping thing, but that'll requires some extensive planning.

The lineup is absurdly good, pretty much the whos-who in UK bass. Can't wait..

air- posted:Warp just set a date for the HudMo/Lunice collab on their Facebook! It's still a wee while off though, another couple months. Well I guess it is May already and I'm sure they'll be some promos out. It is sounding good though. I blame that on the Lunice half, though on saying that I did think Satin Panther was a big, big step up from pretty poor Butter. What is out now on promo though is that Northbase single on Wheel & Deal. Yes more modern hardcore rave-up nostalgia which I guess should really be a bad thing but sometimes you just can't help a little cheeky swatch. It even has a smiley face on the sleeve for god's sake! Like a red rag to a bull. But as bad for you as it may be, we're all safe as long as LA Gear trainers, neon cycling shorts and dungarees don't come back into fashion. Quick someone get me a copy of Vogue! But hey since I just can't stop myself, more quasi-nostalgia, two things I just found out about the now: http://soundcloud.com/orisjay/4real http://soundcloud.com/orisjay/lfo-refix Can you tell Darqwan's from Sheffield then? Absolutely fantastic producer who's really not had enough out over the past few years. He's been promising an album for ages so let's see if 2012 will actually be the year. Though knowing my luck the week before it comes out that whole ancient Mayan 2012 prophecy shite will end the world.

Is there a released date for Eprom's Metahuman yet? The mix he did a while ago had a lot of unreleased stuff and I'm pretty psyched for it. Also I was at a Rustie gig where he mixed in Regis Chilbin and it was kind of sick.

Regis Chillbin is the first single from it actually and is just out, with a Machinedrum remix on the flip. Also just out (or just about to come out tomorrow I should say) is 214's Plastic Spokes EP, out on local legends Fortified Audio. I think the digital may have been about for a while, but who cares about then when the real deal three dimensional slab of melted and squashed plastic is out there now.

Got that Eprom vinyl coming tomorrow, Rwina is a great label. Hope there's another release from Ratchet sometime, had a decent but unnoticed grime 12" on there last year. Oh to add something else to this post, as Rustie is getting more popular and is kinda a similar sound. Here's a zip of 4 wonky/sqwee and hiphop mashups: http://www.mediafire.com/?tcapp11w8mjbine After i heard Slugabed - Dangerous i thought it sounded kinda ill-fitting and not that good, so tried out some existing tracks/acapella combo's that i thought sounded better, for a mix. Dr Dre - Next Episode, Beastie Boys - Ch-Check It Out, Flowin' Prose and Busta Rhymes - Woo-Hah. The other tracks in the comments if you want to know or remake better as these were just quickly done but seemed to fit well. infinity2005 fucked around with this message at 14:07 on May 14, 2012 |

Rwina gets some love for putting out Taz's stuff. Ramp not quite as much, 'cause they never released Strike First like they were supposed to (this was before they brought out Murda Skank). Bastards! And they just ignored him for the Ramp 50 disc! Double bastards! Just 'cause he only had the 1 release on them I bet! Ratchet's actually a good example of what happened to Grime. No vinyl releases! Not even a CD-R release! He's been about for years, with production on a bunch of CDs like for Frisco and that first Impulse mixtape. Even did a bunch of beats for one of Chipmunk's releases(back when he didn't take the cock). Those kinda 2nd wave Grime producers didn't get enough love on the releasing front which really harmed the scene if you ask me. You can only go over Eskimo so many times, no matter how awesome is still is.

That's sick that he sent you tshirts, what's the design on them? I definitely won't be sleeping on Elefo any time soon. On a different note, Kuedo released a new single. Really cheered me up a bit as I thought his recent 'return' on Body High was pretty disappointing to be honest, but the mix was fun. Some real classics in there too, poo poo I've not heard in years and years. Actually speaking of Rinse I picked up Brackles LP which came out a week or two ago. Really nice, with enough sexy swagger in it that I just pure love. That's something sadly lacking in a lot of stuff coming out nowadays. Though I did just notice the iTunes release has an extra track! That's a trend that needs to be shot down asap. I saw that new UK Rap comp did the same, with a extra special iTunes only mix. You'd think they'd include the extra bits in the real format to help maybe shift some copies. You know the formats that have apparently been suffering sales wise for the past decade and having something special included might help boost sales.

Cunts just can't see the truth man! You've just gotta like, open up your mind to the infinite expanse of the universe and be one with nature duuude! Far out and groovy! But nah, it's just like I always say, keep an ear on the pirates, keep an ear on the new 12-inches out and you can generally figure stuff out and where poo poo's going. It was the same when the halfstep stuff became en vogue, when Funky started rearing it's head etc. As usual it's amazing how if you actually just listen to stuff what you can pick up. Listening to music, crazy concept I know I know! Anyway I actually had to check up on the date for the previous Dubstep Allstars as I could've sworn the Distance mix was out a lot longer than last year. I keep on thinking it came out in '09 but obviously I must be thinking of the Chefal and Ramadanman one. Still it's cool to see a new edition as over the past 4-5 years the Dubstep Allstars series seems to have been completely eclipsed by the Rinse series. Though it's not really a bad thing I guess seeing as the Rinse series kicks some arse. In other news, today I've been listening to the new Virus Syndicate single which is pretty much a cover of Pink Floyd's Money. I hope this is the right thread. I've been listening very extensively these days to James Blake, Mount Kimbie and Burial. I'd like if someone could recommend me other artists which have some elements of dubstep like them. I'm basically looking for booming bass and entrancing beats with the eery ambiance these guys feature. Thanks for the recommendations! Other things I've been listening to which I have enjoyed greatly that are (kind of) in the same vein are Clubroot and Ital Tek, if this can orient you guys.

Here's a neat little thing that I just found out about today: Simon Reynolds showcases some 2-step tunes which featured some of that late-90s (mainly) US R&B thing. The stuff that kinda re-injected a bit more swing and soul into the scene which in 97/98 was still doing that fast 4x4 Speed Garage thing. Any excuse to listen to Stone Cold is worth it, as well as remembering the days when a bootleg (or anything for that matter) could sell 20,000 copies. Other highlights include a trip down memory lane remembering the group N-Tyce (ah sweet memories of 1998, the last time we qualified for a World Cup. No wonder after that loving shameful display in the States the other night) and also that fantastic Booker T Soul II Soul remix, and unlike Reynolds I do actually want to hear that Soul II Soul album given I have gently caress all of theirs past about their third album.

Anyway the Royal-T mix isn't half bad though, very energetic prime time material, at least to me. Good way to get the girls up on the dancefloor! Everyone likes a good remix to move their body too. I saw that Todd Edwards release too (though you'd think Todd Edwards of all people could be able to press and sell out a good run of real vinyl), though I'm still on the fence about it all. I'm waiting to hear the full release. I didn't really like the recent work he had out on Body High. At least I don't think I did. I know that sounds stupid but I was the same when like say, Zed Bias or El-B came back (well when ZB stopped with the Phuturistix thing and re-launched Sidestepper). Like I ran out and bought the singles, but ended up feeling disappointed. It sounded more like they playing catch up than leading the field like they used too, like how I remember they used to be. Of course then 3 months or 6 months later or whatever I'd like hear it on the radio and go,"oh that sounds loving good who is that... wait a second that's Zed Bias! I already have that single!". I guess that initial disappointment made it a bit hard for me to see intially how good the tunes were. I've been wondering about that though. I don't know if it's just because like, for me these artists aren't some mythical unicorn like thing. Like I bought the Full On CDs or say, Stormy Day new! It's not really mysterious to me, I was there when they were in their prime releasing material. So I guess to me it's like I know what heights they can really go too, and I get the opposite reaction to when they go away for ages and kinda starve you of their tunes. When they come back I don't leap on them chowing down going "amazing!" I mean I still wolf it down like the filthy capitalist pigdog fanboy I am, but at the end it can leave you feeling just a bit unsatisfied.
