For one thing they made the coronas way too small so the slightest fuckup will destroy your chances at the more precise missions. That and mapping the weapons such that you need one hand holding the "s" key down, one flying the plane and a hypothetical third hand to fire the bombs unless you remap the controls to a less dificult, though still hard to get a hold of, system.

I thought that the SF portion was okay, despite Fierro being by far my least favorite portion of the map. I loved the desert portion though. The two crazy subplots running out there were loads of fun.

The whole airport sequence could have needed a bit more variety, maybe a few side missions in the surrounding desert towns. I liked the idea of CJ just concentrating on learning to fly planes for a while, even being forced to do it, but as a player I would have liked something to break it up every now and then.

There was nothing to stop you from going to Las Venturas and killing a shitload of people, then outrunning the cops.

Does that trick still work? I couldn't get it working in the Steam version, though (obviously) it still works on the PS2 version.

Well yeah, but the original PS2 version has a 20% chance that each horse will win, regardless of the odds. When I tried again with the Steam version, the chance each horse will win seemed to roughly correspond with the betting odds.

So in the PS2 version it only took you a few reloads before betting all your cash on the longest odds would pay off, but in the Steam version it takes ages.

Go to the Xpadder forums and search for San Andreas. There's a guy who has a whole system worked out. It involves changing the controls in game and on Xpadder though, and takes about 15 minutes.

I totally agree; the only Grand Theft Auto games that had anything resembling a believable main character were GTA 3 and GTA Vice City. In Three, the you play a guy his is basically a mute, stone-cold killer, and mowing down the mafia, the police and a few civilians on accident/gleefully seemed like something that the person you were playing as was capable of doing.

Same goes with Vice City: like the GTA 3, your character was betrayed and you want to get your money and revenge. Main man Tommy Vercetti was pleased as punch to put as many bullets into as many people as he needed, and he was quite vocal about it. He laughed and swore, but he never really gave you reason to believe that he was ever going to wimp out and start feeling bad about doing terrible things.

Then CJ from San Andreas and Niko from GTA4 showed up, and all of a sudden the Grand Theft Auto series are focused around these conflicted characters who feel bad about what they are doing in the plot.

But the issue with them feeling bad is that:

1) Your character starts feel majorly hypocritical - when you are making him run around during a side quest or main mission, the game throws you into these scenarios where you are most likely going to kill a vast amount of people. Like, seriously thousands upon thousands of people over the course of the game. And now he's going to be upset about it? You probably ought to stop crying about it after you light victim number #237 We don't need any moments of silence for the 39th person you hit with the dangerous end of the chainsaw.

2) It's kind of pathetic - I don't play a game titled Grand Theft Auto and need a character with a set of morals that give him a big ole wet one when he thinks of his past or his friends need him to go kill some drug dealers. I play GTA because when I hit the power button, I am going to commit a lot of virtual crime. Even when I want to actually help people by driving them around town or to the hospital, I'm still going to probably destroy a vast amount of vehicles and quite likely run somebody over. I really don't care to see my character reminisce solemnly about his past time in some random war. We just hit 8 mailboxes and took out a crowd of people getting hot dogs, you don't feel THAT bad.

Yeah there is?

It's quite good at knowing who to lock onto, as well. Plus if you use the mp5, while holding down the fire button, rapidly tap the lock on button and it'll swap between lots of people in front of you (like 20 balla's) and every time someone is hit once, they stagger for half a second. So rapidly tapping the lockon button changes who gets hit so you can stun lock 20 guys. It's possible to take out large groups of people (FBI etc) by doing this.
