Fallen Rib

I do love this bike, but all that effort and they couldn't:

A) fit a new kick stand
B) fit a heat shield to that high-line pipe
C) pump up the loving tyres
D) space the seat for a human pelvis (and possible testicles attached thereof)

I've seen Can Am Spyder's before, they just looked a bit nicer than this thing. I seriously though it was some converted snowmobilemachine. Is this like the lowend Ninja 250 of their model line or something? Dude was laying underneath it because it wouldn't run when I left the store. I should have asked him if the rope on the pull starter broke.

Neither did I till I started riding one! A lot of the bigger sport tourers get a bad rap because they are so big and heavy, but once moving, they are really pretty nimble. Sure, it's not Motard nimble, but still :)

Serious question -- why do bike cops never have full-face buckets?

Sagebrush
Feb 26, 2012

I've heard it's so that they don't have to be always taking their helmets off and on to talk to people. Less intimidating and such. Don't know if that's true, though.

I did see a couple of motorcycle cops in AZ wearing black full-face helmets with black visors...that was pretty cool, if a little fascist-looking.

I've seen quite a few bike cops with modular helmets, but most of those offer only a hair more protection than open-face helmets.

I don't know what that is, but there was a Mille put up for sale locally that hasn't cracked a thousand miles. I thought I was looking at my own death, or at least its instrument.

Sigh. Bay Area motorcycle officers and CHP motorcycle patrols are so fast nearly all the time. I would hate trying to outrun one of them. It's bad enough that SFPD rides dual sports..

I see what you guys are talking about keeping the bike in first gear at stops. I can see he had to rapidly brake which is why the lady was going so fast, then when he looks in the mirror to see the car behind him when he gets hit.

The gills are where the radiators live. They're outboard like that so they don't interfere with the good Dr. Buell's preferred steering geometry.

I think the point is Z3n is a space cowboy on the edge of a frontier unknown to man, he's out there pushing the limits, trail braking into the abyss.
