If this looks worth it, then yes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_J6AAn29hZY

What you get:
- Danger's music sewn together into an hour-long suite
- cool visualisations
- Danger playing prerecorded tracks, usually the studio versions of his songs, and manipulating them with effects, esp. filters and beat repeat
- dancing to Danger's music with other Danger fans

What you don't get:
- live music, instrument playing, spontaneity, witty banter

I saw him in 2008, before he started performing atop a piano, and it was def. worth it because there's a guy in a mask who calls himself Danger and his artwork's projected on the wall and he's playing this cinematic bangin'-rear end music and people are goin nuts

Saw DJ Sneak last night, wasn't nothin' but a house party. He played a few acid songs early in his set, every house DJ needs to drop a minimum of 5 minutes of acid per set in my o opinion.

I'm seeing Soul Clap vs Wolf+Lamb tonight, last time I caught them was their return to Brooklyn after WMC and Nico played a surprise opening set. It was very similar to this tracklist, deep house and hip hop, which owns.

To be honest, some of the best "trap" poo poo right now is more mainstream stuff like 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, Juicy J etc. This mix by Brodinski covers a ton of that kinda stuff and is a great place to start.

If your looking for more electronic stuff in the same vein as Baauer, check out RL Grime, Flosstradamus, Lunice, Hudson Mohawke.. that should get you started!

Can anyone reccomend some sweet 80s/90s Old-Skool Rave or Hi-NRG in the vein of Praga Khan's Injected With A Poison?

The only thing I am experienced with in that era is Acid and Chicago House. I need something heavier and faster.

I just booked my BoltBus tickets to Vancouver (from Seattle round trip $2!!) for Danger. Biltmore Cabaret looks like an interesting venue. I think only ~350 people, and I saw a picture of Kid Koala there, and the audience was kind of on the same level as him, so it should be quite intimate. I might have to flash my Bostleg medal at him...

Ah Hardcore, where would we be without you? Actually Hi-NRG is a completely different thing, that was that whole early/mid-80s Dead Or Alive/Stock Aitkin Waterman stuff, kinda pre-dating even early House.

Anyway since I have zero problems wanking off my ego, you could always check out the second part of my UK Bass history guide, where I cover that early Hardcore sound. Listen, read and (hopefully) enjoy. There's a bunch of recommended listening at the bottom too, including some classic Hardcore compilations like the Kaos Theory series (oh Telstar why did you need to collapse in a blaze of financial mismanagement, nobody did cheap crappy comps better than you) which are pretty easy to find and cheap too. Well here in the motherland at least anyway.

Not that Hardcore comps are really hard to find. Every year for the past two decades or so brings a new brace of mix CDs, most of which are pretty interchangeable regarding tracklistings etc but still, easy and cheap to find.

Thank you, post owns bones.

I had a some amount of artists in your Hardcore section like Altern-8 and DJ Seduction and plenty of stuff from R&S records past. :v:

EDIT: I should mention that my library also includes a lot of stuff from your Bleep N Bass post. I love Warp a lot and can't get enough of stuff like LFO and especially Xon. I'm reading your entire thread now! :)

Unfortunately the reason of the post was that I have to get more... "danceable" stuff since I was impromptu told to supply music for a theme party (ugh?) based on the early 90s rave scene. I'm unfortunately "that guy who likes older music" in my circle of friends who gasp with excitement when a new Goldfrapp remix or Lana Del Rey tracks is out.

Besides the point, I don't think a lot of people would dance to all the Acid I have (think Dr. Phibes) when all they listen to is trendy pale girl electronic music like iamamiwhoami and HEALTH. Your thread just made my job a lot easier.

You know what flashed in my mind when I read this and what you needed it for, was the Peter Hook mixed Hacienda Classics. It's not exactly exploring the depths tracklisting-wise (though a couple nice ones), but there's all sorts of easily recognisable and famous poo poo in there. Black Box, Inner City, K-Klass, Orbital etc etc (even loving Shannon in there so you can secretly sing along too while pretending to be manly and cool and macho). It's all pretty stereotypical 'ravey' in the way that most people without a clue imagine (not that there's anything wrong with any of those producers and songs), but without needing the commitment of a massive sound system and tons of eccies. Basically it's pretty safe. Pre-mixed, so you can just whack it on, it'll go for 2-3 hours and you can go chat up some burd. Simples.

Twice in the UK and once in Paris. UK shows were old style mask and various action film/anime vid clips. Nobody knew who he was at the first one, more people knew at the second (a year later).

Paris 'new' show had his lit eyes mask and interactive background showing which knobs he was twiddling on the various bits of equipment he was using from atop a great big black grand piano. Place was jumping, he did a couple of new remixes of his older stuff.

Very worth it.

Saw Danger destroy San Francisco last night. I was a bit worried when the dance floor was empty earlier in the night, but by the time it was for him to start the place was going wild chanting his name. Turns out he has a decent following in SF. I really didn't notice any point in the show where he lost me, just good tune after good tune. And from what I could tell, his new material is pretty badass.

It's a good show. He played when I was living in SF and I think it was a pretty good fit for the crowd- stoners who are too cool to dance. You won't really dance, but it's blissful and mellow and cool. If you smoke weed, do so. If not, I bet it's probably still worth it. And definitely take a date.

Also, this song just popped up on my radar. I guess it's considered "future-garage," for those who really give a poo poo about labels, but regardless it's loving beautiful:
