Hell yeah, Xbox Live version of Wordament is out now:

http://www.windowsphone.com/en-US/apps/c62201b4-e059-e011-854c-00237de2db9e

If you have the pre Xbox Live version installed, it will update.

Seems like there's been more "iOS" price match drops on Xbox live games (things like Fruit Ninja, etc), too bad the ball has been dropped overall by the devs actually supporting them.

Sucks that I lost all my stats when I upgraded Wordament. I was drat proud of my one and only first place win and now it's gone. Also that green background is really ugly. I wish I could turn it off.

Edit: Apparently the background changes to compliment various accent colors. The other combinations look quite nice. I guess I got the short end of the stick on that.

What the hell it removes stats? I was working on getting 100 first place wins (at which point I'd quit forever). Lame!

Any other sweet apps outside of Wordament? I found Wordament on a whim and it's probably the only app that I use on a frequent basis.

I don't seem to possess a brain capable of playing this at a high level. I've stared at boards for a good 30 seconds and the best I can throw up are a few 3 letter words at a time. I really wonder about the guys that are getting 90 of the 100 words available. That's nuts.

I assume there's got to be "solvers" out there where you can type in the game board and have it poop out all the possible words. Hopefully there's ways to track this and ban people or whatever appropriately (if you suddenly go from playing 3 letter words to bam 100% or something), but who knows.

You only have 2 minutes so to input a gameboard and read, process, input the results would take too much time. People are just really really fast.

I am consistently in the top 10 and average 60 to 70 words per game with my highest being 80. It just takes practice and learning pattern recognition and repetitive words.

Isn't Wordament just a Boggle clone? I haven't played it in a long while, but isn't it only 16 characters? Wouldn't it take 5-10 seconds to enter the characters, maybe 5-10 seconds for the web page to return to you a list of the words, leaving you with 1:40 to type everything in?

A quick google showed this: http://www.cse.unr.edu/~cohen/bogl.php - It took me less than 10 seconds to type all the letters in, and it showed the list of words in less than 1 second.

They've caught multiple people cheating and they get banned from the game. One person was using Wordament to test a bunch of algorithms of his. After he was banned he contacted the developers and talked about what he was doing. The DEVs let him back in, but his name stays out of the leaderboard and results.

What's the scoop on Fat Stats? I've been using it since Myrddin Emrys posted it. I like the red line progression, but now that I have so many entries in the thing it's started to get a bit slow. I remember reading there was an update planned, but I'm just wondering if that's still in the works or on the back burner.

I'd like to mention the app Hey DJ!

It lets you use your voice to play music. It's pretty slick and has a nifty "launch and listen" live tile that makes it a really easy, not to mention safer, way to control music playback while driving.

I'd also like to point out that the developer has been about as classy as they come dealing with me. My phone wouldn't let me use the app at all, giving me a server connection error whenever it tried to transmit the voice data. Even though he said I was the only person to report the problem, the developer worked closely with me to figure it out over the course of a few months. We finally determined that my carrier was blocking .net traffic somehow, so this guy completely changes from a .net domain to a .com domain just to address one person's problem.

I figure I owe it to the guy to promote his app a little V:shobon:V

Actually reading and finding the letters corresponding to what you're reading will then take even more time.

It's not how people play for the most part. Trust me it'd be too slow. WicketEwok, one of the faster players out there, has a video or two of himself playing online. You just get REALLY REALLY fast at instant pattern/word recognition.

Just wanted to say to people that have used official Microsoft apps in the past, the Weather and Translator apps have been updated recently. New icons and everything. Really impressed by both apps, especially the translator, as it is really shiny now.

The weather app's live tile is the best I have seen. Updates constantly, never have a problem. Usually the live tile is updated before I actually go into the app its self, which takes a few seconds to update the temperature.

Am I stupid or is there no way to change the MS Weather app's display to celsius from fahrenheit?

If you launch from a pinned city tile, there doesn't seem to be a way to get to settings. If you go to the programs list and launch it from there, the ellipsis menu brings up settings, which has a F/C switch.

Ah thanks Tk.

By the way is there an app that lets you custom color the phone background or live tiles?

I basicly want to have black tiles on white bg or white on black but for whatever reason white and black are not under my color options.

If you're not already committed to a MMO (as much as you can be committed to these things) you might want to check out Age of Sorcery. It's only been out for two weeks and is exclusive to the platform.
It's a slow-paced city-building and world-conquering strategy MMO. It's also free, so you might as well.

Age of Sorcery seems alright. Reminds me a lot of Heroes of Might and Magic, although it's not shoving microtransactions in my face. I guess it's still in beta?

From the list of in-game guilds it looks like there's a pretty good player base for a WP7 game. I haven't done any combat yet so I don't know how that plays out and there doesn't seem to be any kind of tutorial aside from the help section, but it seems like a good way to waste some time.

Does anyone use Spotify on WP7? Does it integrate into the music tile so I can just connect to my car's bluetooth and hit play to have Spotify music? The reviews are all over the place, has anyone encountered any issues?

I'd do Zune Pass instead but I have tons of playlists already made in Spotify and the social stuff in the desktop version really make it great.

You have to have the app open (which you can access from the music tile). I used Spotify for a month and then switched to Zune Pass mainly because of the better integration (plus I got a sweet $50 year subscription code from another member), but if I remember correctly, you will still be able to switch songs from the lock screen, for example.

What's the WP7 equivalent of Tasker/Locale in Android?

Basically I want my phone to initiate certain settings when I arrive on a particular place like for example my cellular to turn off and switch immediately to wi-fi when I get home rather than doing it manually.
