Anyone got any recommendations as to where I should place the Port Crystal that you get from Bluemoon Tower? I'm thinking of the rest stop in the southwest so I can have easy access to that area of the map.

You get a shortcut via the Ancient Quarry, i think the best bet for the first portcrystal is to stick it somewhere in the north, or near Cassardis cause going through the mountain path sucks.

So how the gently caress do I catch this thief in the starting town? I hit him, try to grab him, he just shrugs it off and keeps running, I try to chase him, he runs out of town and I fail the quest, I try to just grab him straight up, he shrugs it off and runs out of town. EDIT: I got him. What a stupid quest. Shirkelton fucked around with this message at 05:59 on May 28, 2012 |

Switch to strider/ranger and knock him over with full bend/dire arrow then run up and grab him before he gets up. That's how I did it.

He's a fast fucker and I don't think you'd ever catch up to him even with the lowest weight on your main guy. He usually runs along a set path, coming up from the beach road and then running up towards the church. You can either wait in the market area for him to run by or go up to the roof of the market buildings and jump on him once he runs by. You have to hit him a few times until he's staggered, and then hold your grab button in order to catch him.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but as a Mage, you can manually aim spells by clicking in the left stick while charging them up. If you do this for buffs, it makes them auto-target your character.

Step 1) Go Strider. Step 2) Ensnare. Step 3) RT/R2. I chased the bastard around trying to do it legit for awhile before shrugging and just throwing wires at the bastard to catch him up. Shoulda done it from the start, would've saved me a few minutes.

There's a quest to chase a griffin to Bluemoon and a quest to chase a sorcerer there too. Both are regular game quests. I believe one might be story mandated and the other a notice board. Mercedes posted:Duchess talk: has anyone let that bitch get choked out? Can you? What happens afterwards? I did this first time around. It's not very good. You can let her die. It's like a solid minute of her getting strangled to death. Afterwards, the Duke flips out again and realizes what he's done and runs away. Then the game automatically kicks you out of the bedroom, a guard arrests you, and you fail the quest to no reward.

When I lured it in to land in the spot you give it a goblin snack, I proceeded to alpha strike it so heavily with a double Arc of Might from both me and my pawn that it was completely stun locked and what followed was like dropping a piano on a pigeon. Several flaming pianos. I think I've seen the same quest done by others and it was meant to fly away and lead you to some ruins somewhere where you have an epic showdown. That, uh, didn't happen. It's kinda dead. A lot. Haha, drat this makes me want to roll a warrior. My warrior main pawn seems to have pretty lovely AI. I always want to him to go berserk and run in and start hacking the gently caress out of everybody but he doesn't, even though I've changed his inclination to Scather/Challenger. The sorcerer and strider pawns I rent seem to be pretty hesitant to fully and aggressively engage as well, actually. The only one that seems to be fairly reliable in terms of playing it's role is the support Mage.

So I just got to Grand Soren. How do I find quests that I can actually do? Every quest I'm given is far beyond my abilities and has me fighting enemies that kill me in one hit and take no damage from my attacks I tried doing the caves under the Pawn Guild and it was okay because I gave my main pawn a holy weapon enchant, but then I got to the part where I choose between fighting an ogre or fighting some kind of wizard that just one-shot my entire party before I could even see him. I can't even damage the Ogre. Blunt Force Trauma fucked around with this message at 06:39 on May 28, 2012 |

So I never did the Madeline (I think?) escort quest to shadow fortress and now it seems disappeared/gone from the notice board. What have I lost out on due to this? vvv the first time I chased him around the city like 3x and eventually lost him. Restarted it, did the same thing. Walked out, milled around for a bit, he came running around the bend and I snatched him before he realized what was going on. Clocks fucked around with this message at 06:39 on May 28, 2012 |

The Skeleton Mage detour should be doable but if all else fails just run past the Ogre while you keep hitting the down arrow so your pawns stick with you. Eventually he'll drop aggro, I think. At least I do it all the time in the field and it works with everything so far. Did you make sure you got all the previous quests at Casardis and the Encampment? It's easy to miss them. Some notable ones will have you catching a thief, going down into a well, and looking for someone's dad who is a gardener at Gran Soren.

Freighter S. is on the field, ready to hold people in headlocks while you stab their vital organs. Tried to make him generally Scather/Challenger to kill everything and hold attention, for use with ranged vocations. If anyone uses him tell me if I should change his AI. Just got to Gran Soren, level 13 or so. I've got the 2 escorts from the inn board, the generic kill-things board quests, the grimoire quest, and then the Everfall deal. Am I missing anything major from Gran Soren and and should these all stick around for a while? I've heard about the escorts disappearing but apparently they're almost impossible to do at the level where you can access them. Edit: Also I didn't get the thief and gardener quests from Cassardis mentioned above, are those gone now or do you just have to get them at a certain time of day or something? I thought I checked the whole town thoroughly. Owl Inspector fucked around with this message at 07:02 on May 28, 2012 |

Yeah, give that a shot, make sure you check the quest boards in both Casardis and the Encampment. I missed them myself but there's some decent xp for that level and you get a lot of "kill 10 whatevers" quests that are easier to complete overtime if you grab them early on. Gestalt Intellect posted:Freighter S. is on the field, ready to hold people in headlocks while you stab their vital organs. Tried to make him generally Scather/Challenger to kill everything and hold attention, for use with ranged vocations. If anyone uses him tell me if I should change his AI. I've had some of the escort quests disappear, then come back, then disappear again. I couldn't see any pattern to it. The escort quests are doable at that level, but it'll just consist of you running from everything pretty much the entire time, in the dark, with no real idea where you're going since you're still de-fogging the map as you go along. And you'll end up saving after almost every successful escape just to keep inching your way forward. It's grueling as hell but it does kind feel rewarding if you pull it off. I wouldn't recommend to anyone who only just got to Gran Soren in hindsight though, (that's pretty much when I did it). However if you see a quest reward that looks like you might be able to use it, give a shot. As for the Casardis quests I went back and did it at level 37 since I was in the area and it was a quickie, so it should probably still be available. You might have to look around a bit during a different time of day. I've had quest people not show up right in the morning. The gardener quest is called An Innocent Man, and is obtained from Tomlin and the thief quest is called "An Uninvited Guest" and I can't remember exactly who gave it to me and it doesn't say in the completed quest notes but check the board, the innkeeper and anyone just hanging around during the day in Casardis. Compared to the quests you get at Gran Soren the stuff you do at Casardis and the Encampment is incredibly easy and much more in line with what you expect from traditional role playing games these days. I think Samurai mentioned it earlier but with the exception of the Everfall quest and a very few others the Gran Soren quests are truly epic feeling in nature because you really do go on a long rear end journey. e: vvv Ah, that could be it, yeah. -Blackadder- fucked around with this message at 07:27 on May 28, 2012 |

I've been jumping from class to class and so far Mystic Knight is my least favorite. Maybe I just need to unlock more skills but all of the shield skills are pretty awkward. So I need to cast it and then block to fire it off right? I then have to recast it after every block? The Demonspite will fire off a little stun if I cast it again but it's still a lot of casting time for a minor stun. The Sky slash is nice, but I've gotten so used to Burst Strike it just feels like a half rear end alternative. I can't hit flying creatures with it and Burst hits regular mobs better. I do, however, want to mix in some magic with my melee so maybe I'll try the Archer next. If I could equip the staff in one hand and the sword in the other it would be great but switching back and forth isn't good enough. I prefer sword to dagger moves but otherwise Archer might be a better fit.

So I saved Selene from the mob in Witchwood, it was night so I had to fight the Golem in total darkness and now she lives in my house. My question is, have I adopted her or is she now classed as a love interest? Unrelated to this, being mobbed by Skeletons at night outside Gran Soren is giving me flashbacks to OoT and the Stalkids who'd constantly spawn in Hyrule Field at night, its pretty cool.

I mean I know the DS comparisons are getting old by now but at least DS's enemies weren't sodding palette swaps.
