pretty much. No matter what kind of powers you have, no one is going to respect you if you look like Typical White Nerd. Well, I look like that, no idea about any of you.

So phenomenal cosmic powers + cool hair is what I'd wish for. Wait, what are these wishes? She wished for two things so do you get two wishes maximum? Because as much as I'd like the pink hair I'd maybe swap it out for magic and some sort of indestructible Vader-like suit. (Without the being trapped in it though)

Isn't it just the one wish considering everyone can use magic by default? And I'm sure not-Ramza's was to have a less drunk dad, not being stuck in the game forever.

I forget; did the game explain why she wanted PINK hair (or dyed it pink) instead of something normal like, I dunno, black or brown, or since we're talking Ivalice, blonde? If you're trying to cover the shame of your weird hair color, I don't think dying it hot pink is the way to avoid attention.

I think it was meant to be red, and it just ended up looking pink in the game due to the color palette used.

Alternately it's pink because her hair is naturally white, and she dyes it red, so white + red = pink.

I thought the game showed not-Ramza's dad as a bum or someone who didn't have a real job or something like that during the ending.

Marche really didn't have any good arguments for returning to the real world other than being a total jerk to everyone, did he?

The sad part is that it wouldn't have taken much time to find some actual good arguments, but he just went 'No, SHUT UP! We're going home!'

It would have been pretty rad if they had shown fake-ivalice to be extremely dangerous for the other kids there, have a few get seriously injured or even die(they get better), so Marche decides to end the fantasy because the other kids aren't having totally awesome adventures like he is.

But it did! Those bullies were totally zombies :colbert: but of course since they were bullies, they didn't count.

Speaking of the FFTA bullies, you know what would've made that game playable? If the laws were much more specific (like Forbidden: snowballs with rocks in). Forbidden: Dragoon? No. Forbidden: Bolt Breath. Forbidden: Ascetic Magic? No. Forbidden: Cura.

It'll hurt even more when they add the bullshit from the current game:
It involves the Old evil guy being able to time travel as his younger self, and turning the members of the organisation (the bad guys in the black robes) into copies of himself. And that's not even touching on the main character, who the bad guy also wants to turn into a copy or something..

We never see Marche's dad during the game. We do see Mewt's dad being a bum in the beginning, who gets a job during the ending thanks to his Judge experience boosting his resume or whatever.

Marche didn't really have any reason to stay there, though he did learn a valuable lesson in beating the poo poo out of bullies.

Granted, but FFTA2's laws were at least optional (to an extent). You didn't have ridiculous penalties like stat loss for breaking the law, you just lost the ability to revive, your clan bonus (usually AP Up), and forfeited your post-battle baubles.

What I would've done for anti-laws for some of them in FFTA2, though, like the "uphold the law AND" clan trials.

Personally I think it all went to Hell with the brilliant move of "remember Ansem? The main villain from the first game? Well hes's not actually Ansem at all."

Something ironic, I'm certain
On FFTA's morality, I'll argue that Marche was justified in wanting to destroy Ivalice. Who knows what happened to all those St. Ivalice citizens when the town was put under an enchantment that transformed Marche's world. I haven't played the game in awhile but I'm guessing many people were transformed and brainwashed to create the new Ivalice world. It's not fair that a number of people have to have their existences rewritten just so some young boy can get his mother back.

Although flawed, I found the plot of FFTA a lot more interesting than most other Final Fantasy games.

Edit: I recently finished the original Final Fantasy Tactics. It still blows me away how great the game is while suffering from crazy balance issues. It's a miracle how tight the battle formulas are compared to how sporadic the difficulty is.

The main problem with the story is that it's not very well-written. They don't really reinforce a strong incentive not to stay in this world, and it feels more like Marche is trying to get people out because it's what he's supposed to do, rather than because it's dangerous escapism and that they're abandoning everyone they know and love and all that stuff. Granted, the story itself is a bit low-effort, but it could've worked if better written.

At least then it wouldn't lead to a lot of people claiming Marche as the villain of the story in an attempt to salvage something interesting out of FFTA's story.

Well, people are right that he's the "villain" of the story, in that it's an inversion where the protagonist's trying to destroy 4 crystals to wreck the world, but the biggest problem with that (and there's a whole slew of other problems with FFTA's story and presentation) is that the last game where there were 4 crystals and a bad dude trying to destroy them came out in like 1992. So instead of it being "oh, I'm inhabiting the villain role in this we've-been-dragged-into-the-game scenario, that's really clever," it ends up being "oh. That might have been relevant a decade ago when Final Fantasy games were still had crystals and poo poo." The concept is flawed from the get-go.

Technically the first one is in there, but it will never come up in rotations and is only available as a law card, with the exception of Dmg to animals, but anti-law cards or just moving around the map to change the law can mitigate that. DMG > 100 doesn't exist in FFTA1 though, as well as the other luck based laws that FFTA2 added, like knockbacks or missing an attack, and you can't move around the map to have the laws shift in your favor.

It would've been so easy to give any kind of motivation to Marche:

- He misses his real parents and he knows everyone else will as well (sorry bout your dead mother Mewt, man up already)
- A world mostly without grownups is not the right place to be

I thought the DMG > x laws were in the Japanese version, while for the U.S. version they were cut because they figured out those were actually pretty lovely laws even for this game.

So it makes even less sense that they brought them back for FFTA2.
