I was already sold on the game but I was in the (post-game) Everfall and I saw what looked like carvings of lizards on the back wall of a room. Walked over to check them out and practically poo poo my pants when they jumped off the wall and attacked me! It was a great moment.

What exactly is that skill that sends enemies flying? I thought it would be Full Bend, but that does send them as far as I thought it would.

I don't even know where to start with how stupid this "gather evidence for the trial mission is." There really shouldn't even be run around the city missions in this game but this one is just loving retarded. The waypoints are all jacked up and I have to wait for days for it to finish? Yeesh.

Welp I'm stuck at the Shadow Fort. Every gate is locked, the Frontier Caverns are a dead-end, and all the holes say they're for small people. What the hell am I supposed to do? EDIT: also, it pissed me off that the "Stone of the South" turned out to be the Shadow Fort. I would've taken some drat escort quests with me if they'd used the proper name

You should have found a lever in a chest. Go back to the upper level of the way you came into the courtyard and use it to open the gate. That'll bring the soldiers in. Help them clear up ALL the goblins on the map and the way will open to the boss.

So I just got the Duchess in Distress quest but I don't want to raise affinity for her but still want to do it. Can I just do the quest and then throw her around a little bit afterwards or something? What can you do to lower affinity?

Killing someone can make them not love you as much.

The only chest remaining (up on a platform to the right of the far gate), I can't get to because my goddamn Acquisitor pawns break every crate that gets within their reach. How long does it take before crates respawn?

Actually now that I think about it, I'm not sure. I've never done the quest myself, but I hear that she gets taken away from Gransys at the end of the quest. I guess you could just make the person you have you eye on love you more or something.

I did that quest and I had two other maxed-affinity people (Madeleine and Selene). I must not have maxed affinity with the duchess (or I did, and it didn't matter) because guess who got captured by the dragon? Selene. loving hell. To be fair at the ending she just kind of jumps on my character, and it looks more like a hug than anything, so I'm not reading into any pedoshit here.

The Duchess does get taken by the Dragon if she's your love interest and have done that quest, she says that she was on her way to her home country when he snatched her. Post game stuff about the same character the game tells me that I have maxed out affinity with two people (Madeleine and Aelinore) and when Madeleine opened her new shop up in Cassardis she was still sporting the pink halo of love, apparently I got the harem ending even if Aelinore is the only one who actually showed up in my house. I know it's probably more of an thing on the part of the programmers but I totally love that the game makes no distinctions between the genders for your character's affections.

I just thought it would be fitting for my character to do to show Mercede's he's got her back.

This is my biggest beef with the game, that the quest system is so unintuative that I ended up missing all of these quests that you're all talking about. Hell, the credits popped up with the various characters and their voice actors and I hadn't even seen two of them! Maybe if they'd used the notice board to provide more breadcrumbs....

So will I have enough time to kill her at the end of the Duchess in Distress quest to lower her affinity? I already [spoilers]gave the Arisen's Bond[/spoilers] to someone else so I assume I just have to lower her's enough so it's not maxed out.

When I got Salmonet's Grimoire I killed all the bandits in the castle. Now when I go back there, Maul has a quest marker over his head, but everybody goes nuts and tries to kill me when I get close. So I killed them all again. Am I hosed or will this eventually stop or something? Fighter is starting to grow on me but I still don't understand the core skill that apparently (if I'm reading this right) reduces damage or downtime when you get knocked over if you time a button press correctly. I've never gotten this to work, although I've pressed it pretty close to right when I hit the ground. Is it just really specific timing or are you supposed to do it at a different moment?

Sometimes it cracks me up how souless the NPC's are. It's so gamey the way they don't react to anything at all. Break out of jail on front of a guard? Who cares? Steal some guys book he is reading? No prob. Just do whatever the gently caress you want and if it isn't in the quest log it won't matter.

At one point in Gyoru's stream he couldn't beat some bandits, so he grabbed a random guard off the road and repeatedly threw him forward until he reached the bandits again. The guard actually helped and he won.

I think a moment that has really made this game for me was when I encountered the ogre in the Everfall for the first time. Of course I tried to kill it by climbing that fucker and he was just like "gently caress that" and threw himself backwards, killing me instantly. It was quite a shock. Also what's with mage pawns that lack the elemental weapon enchants, they are so good (at least at this level)

I love the Souls games and how they handle NG+, but I really wouldn't want that to be the norm. Part of the reason Souls' NG+ works so well is because the difficulty of those games is pretty much the selling point. One of my favorite things in NG+ (especially here in DD)is how cathartic it feels knocking the poo poo out of things that gave you lots of trouble before. quote:I don't like fun games with great mechanics either. Welp. I think I broke the Nameless Ones/Beware of Ambush quest. At the encounter by the Waycastle, there was a person trapped in a cage, surrounded by some harpies. The encounter for the quest started, too, but I killed all the harpies first and got the rescue cutscene, then the encounter never really happened. I also ran into the Encampment one, but the sun rose and I don't think I killed all the appropriate bandits, but the music stopped. Did the other two and went to Cassardis, no Zero, went back to each of the spots and nothing happened. Hopefully this gets remedied by quitting the game or something, I don't want to go to NG++ to get that trophy

So, I've been playing Mystic Knight, because Warrior not having six special abilities is super bullshit, but I can't see how any other class could be better than MK. Having party buffs, awesome shield abilities (Riposte is amazing for most stuff that isn't a grab), and fairly decent damage makes me wonder why I would bother with something else. Question: Is there a way to change your build, like height/weight? I'm huge and kind fo want to try a slimmer character. Question 2: I bought the rune crystal item that gives you unlimited restyles of your character, how do you use it?

On that note, I can't help but feel like Assassins aren't quite as good as the other two hybrid classes. I haven't tried them with swords or shields, but they don't get many decent dagger skills and all their bow skills feel really weak for their high stamina cost. It seems like they're just there for their attunements, which can be put on other classes.

So I was doing an escort quest from the first town to Shadow Fortress. I ran in to a fuckload of Saurians all at one time - not a problem, I'm a Magic Archer, my Sixfold Bolt does ice damage. There were so many that it was still a little rough but I got through it. I go a little further and run in to a Chimera. It's taking forever to go down. Escort guy gets within an inch of death multiple times. My pawns die at least twice each, but we take it down. I'm getting a little worried that nightfall is about to set in, but we press onward. Then I run in to a Goblin Ambush and an armored Cyclops. This thing takes forever to kill but we eventually get it, well after the sun has gone down. It's nighttime and I'm scared. I'm still trying to escort this dumb old man. Then we run in to a loving drake and it kills him in one hit. This loving game. Edit: I'm currently running for my life with three dead pawns. I hear the wings of the drake flapping in the night sky. I can't stop. Chowing down on nuts and mushrooms as I run. If I stop I'm dead Edit 2: Okay, I made it to Shadow Fortress. I missed the camp along the way. I'm out of healing items. gently caress. Blunt Force Trauma fucked around with this message at 10:54 on Jun 1, 2012 |
