I'm trying to make my pawn more versatile as a sorc.

What abilities do you guys want to see more of online? I'll spec my pawn around that, and hope that some of you guys get some use out of him. Nipples needs to get out more.

What does the Sundering Spear Tome do? It says it "splits the earth itself" but I don't know what that means. I tried it on that passage blocked by stone in the Quarry but no luck there.

It's funny that out of all the weapons/armor I wish was in this game, the thing I want most is some god drat pants. They should've had the default "naked" model have long underwear on or something, or not made a bunch of the leg clothing items just a pair of underwear and some socks. It's kind of awkward having my assassin running around in sweet looking armor, and randomly showing like 10 inches of naked thigh because my options are either that or wearing red stockings with stupid shoes that make me look like some sort of drunk christmas elf.

But...there are pants. Go talk to Caxton and buy some denim leggings or something. Go to the quarry and buy the swordsman pants or the white hawk leggings. There are pants, and they're not even that bad.

Well, I thought Warrior was pretty fun, but I got to Rank 9 with it, so switched to Assassin. Holy poo poo the game just got even better. Shooting wizards in the face owns. Shooting Griffins in the face kicks rear end. Shooting wildlife in the face is hilarious. Everything I kill is full of arrows. Only Rank 3 so far, can't wait to see what ridiculous stuff I get next.

How does the Wyrmking Ring or whatever it's called work? I forged it for the quest and stuck the real one on my Sorcerer Pawn, is that all I need to do?

Oh, and with my main character as an assassin, should I just take around one type of weapon each? I'm carting a bow, shield, sword and daggers around, but should I just decide what I'm going to use and stick with it?

It sucks how you can only fully upgrade one merchant with the Golden Idol. Caxton has a better selection of weapons but Madelaine has a better selection of outfits.

Dude, just wait until you get the assassin's "disembowelment" dagger ability. I honestly don't use the shield at all. I keep the bow on me for the best flexibility. And if I feel like I'm gonna get slammed something fierce by a warrior bandit, counter the attack and slit their throat.

Yeah, something is funny with the Ur on the Xbox at least. I've fought him a couple seperate times today, and it seems like I'm doing a lot less damage to him then I used to. Also, he seems to be gaining health back in between my runs. I have no idea what that's about, but it's not cool.
I read that whenever someone dies while fighting him he gets health back. And since it's taking so long to whittle his health down it's possible that quite a few people attempting to are dying in the process, resetting some progress.

I can't decide, should I max out Strider before switching to Assassin or Magick Archer (haven't decided which yet), or just hit level 5, get dodge, then switch? Can I even keep dodge if I switch?

This game is hilarious, I thought I was getting better at it in addition to my character getting overpowered, but starting over is rapidly proving me wrong and there's some hilarious 'gently caress you' quests early on, like the first notice board escort being a trip to the great wall. I had to start over something like 7 or 8 times, even when you can stealth past all but 2 of the bandit encounters.

Onward, to underleveled glory :hist101:

Yes, you can use your dodge roll whenever you have daggers equipped. Core skills are pretty much all segregated by equipment, and you can see what type in particular by hitting x (on the xbox, probably square if you're on PS3). I'm pretty sure you can also learn core skills on any class that uses the type of equipment they require, i.e. dodge on an a rank 5 assassin or archer

For sorcs give him holy & fire weapon enchants and make sure he is utilitarian. The 2nd trait is up to you. This helps them keep weapon enchants up, and a lot of personality types won't bother to buff in combat unless something weak to that element shows up, some will do a poor job buffing even then. Even worse is later on when you get fire enchants against mobs that ignore fire and your pawns won't bother to replace it. You can get potions at the encampment near Cassardis to force that type.

For nukes you want high levin, normal maelstrom & normal comestion. The last one is up to you. High fulmination is funny if you're running a heavy melee team, but most people won't be. The reason for not upgrading maelstrom or comestion is that the AI will try to fully charge them up which is a complete waste of time. Normal maelstrom is plenty strong and comestion is best when it can be cast quickly.

Not as a Mystic Knight but you will keep it when you switch to the classes he was asking about (assassin and magick archer). All Strider subclasses get it.

I did because the Leg Strength Augment that you get on the last level of Strider is amazing.

I began as a Fighter for the hitpoint buffer (100 hitpoint Aug at the start is very handy). Once I hit level 10 I switched to Strider and maxed it out and then switched to Assasin. Most of the Strider Augments cross over very nicely for Assasin.

I keep hearing stories of Gorge. I'm still working on Warrior, so I'm a Strider away from using it. What does that ability do? And if it's so awesome, does the Warrior augment that makes core abilities deadlier make it more awesome?

Edit: It's kind of funny. Pre-release the Assassin video seemed to get the most mediocre response from everyone, now it's the talk of the game.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll stick with Strider a little longer then.

Also the map could stand to be better. I went to the Watergod's Altar with Ser Berne thinking that was the way to the Shadow Fort or whatever. Sadly he got eaten by a dinosaur man. On the plus side, I got more money out of it than I would have otherwise by stumbling onto the place. :v:

I don't suppose Ranger keeps the strider benefit of climbing better? Crawling on top of a cyclops and using Scarlet Kisses to tear its eye out is badass as all hell.

Gouge is an ability that can only be used when climbing on a large creature. As you can probably guess, it's pretty good at taking them down.

The warrior's ferocity augment only effects core skills, which probably means every basic attack (if not, then just the combos you purchase). Abilities aren't effected.

e: The two augments that you get at Warrior Rank 9 do benefit Gouge a great deal, though, I should note.

Yes: Forgery guy is still in the city, back behind the Alehouse (or at least that corner of the zone). Madeleine shows up in Cassardis in the inn, or at least she did for me, I helped her flee the city and gave her a pile of gold so she could start a new store "someday". I have no idea if doing that quest is a requirement for her to be there or not though. Innkeeper is in the pawn guild now too.

It was Plundersaurus Rex's dream to be the greatest pirate dragon ever.

I'm leveling the other melee vocations' ranks up for the augments, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to stick with Fighter in the end. Does Perfect/Divine Defense come in handy, or have any practical use? It's a toss up between that and Shield Drum, and I loooove drawing aggro and using sweeping attacks.

I got one there too, and you do have to fall off the far tower wall onto a ledge to get it. There's a treasure on ledge for each side though, so I'm not sure which one of the two had it. The other one gave me a pair of boots of some sort.

Is it? I gave it to a really helpful pawn when I was done with it, along with a ferrystone. I'm happier about my choice of gear to send along now that I know the pawn's owner will get something rare.

If I could change one thing about the class system, I'd make a lot of skills general use between classes(anything not related to attacking with a specific weapon). I switched over to a warrior from a magic archer(who was an assassin and strider before that), and I'm really missing the double jump. It'd make for very broken character builds, but in a very fun way.
