Yeah that was me. The trick is you ignore what your pawns, the hellhounds, and chimeras are doing and just run around the outside plinking away at the wraith with whatever your ranged damage is. Your pawns are 100% aggro tanks and distractions for the hellhounds/chimeras, so revive them as soon as they go down otherwise you find yourself completely overwhelmed. It's all about running around the outside and then darting in and reviving your teammates before bravely running the gently caress away again.

Also why would anyone want DD to be P5 or vice versa? The world would be a lesser place with only one of those two types of games in it.

And actually I haven't heard the slightest thing about P5 yet, and I listen to that stuff really carefully. What's your source? I do know about Shin Megami Tensei 4 which was announced last week. On the 3DS. gently caress.

I kind of wish it was a bit easier to navigate in there though. It's really hard to actually tell which rooms you've hit and which ones you've missed unless you happen to know all their names. And aiming for a specific room (like the Ur-Dragon pre-NG+) is pretty drat hard since the time to spot it is so short. I think I would have just preferred being able to walk between rooms like a normal person.

The very first place you can grab on has a staircase that leads up to the inside of the pawn's guild.

By the way, the key word there is grab: the button even blinks to highlight itself and everything. Not that anyone would be silly enough to keep belly-flopping onto each ledge for the first several trips through the place.

That would be dumb.

Forging sucks, they notice and while it does complete the quest you don't get any new store items.

Madeleine's shop has more mage-y and more female only clothing: I gave her silver (I lost my chance at the gold by beating a little kid in a footrace like a jerk) During the course of the game she will be forced to flee the city and you lose her shop 'til the post-game. Which sucks. So, she has good stuff, but buy it as soon as you can.

Regular shop has more of the melee fighter type gear. I'm not sure exactly what, since that's who I gave the forgery to.

You don't have to grab a ledge in the Everfall. If you just fall onto the platform, you'll take a little bit of damage, but you'll also skip that cutscene of you grabbing the ledge and pulling yourself up. Great if your game is in the middle of saving while you're falling, since you won't have to wait for that to finish before the cutscene starts.

Not sure whether or not this has been posted or not, but oh well!

I started a completely new game with my current knowledge, and decided to keep the Rusted Bow, just as a debuffer. I have to say - its pretty great! Sure you're gimped to hell on ranged, but the ability to Fivefold Arrow an enemy twice and have them poisoned and slowed is really great!

I was planning on running Strider>Sorc>Mag. Archer but since I've heard MA is pretty crud until higher levels, I'm thinking I might save that for post game and roll Stri>Assass>MA so I can get Autonomy, then and roll the postgame bosses on my own as MA

ps: beholder/evil eye owns, hydra sucks.

I think the only reason Magic Archer sucks until later is because bow selection is so limited. The Gran Soren shopkeep only has one magic bow for most of the game, with the rest being random chest loot.

I assume you can get a pretty sweet one from fighting the dragon, though.

You know what's fun? Because I sure don't. :v:

I started a punchyfist run of the game. With a fresh saved game. First discovery, pawns are pacifists instead of punchyfists when not using a weapon. They don't even try to punch anything, which makes my pawn Fisticuffs ironically named I guess. So I had to compromise and let Fisticuffs attack with a shield, which in turn led me to have one as well. Not for attacking, no, just for blocking.

First order of business was getting to Gran Soren and changing my class to Assassin asap. Skipped almost all quests, punched a hydras head off with my fists and then got to the cart. Proceeded to do a rather good job, knocked harpies out of the air and held them down for Fisticuffs to knock them out or just toss them off a cliff when possible.

Then a harpy snagged my pawn and flew off into the sunset. And then the sun set. And I spent a lot of time kicking things over and bleeding. Body slams, maces, singing, gibbering creatures and a crawling ox painted red.

Good new is we got to Gran Soren and I didn't die! Bad new is, everyone else did. Mercedes twice, though she got better?

All in all, a good trip. :)

The floor with the NPC questgiver and a merchant is the level with the exit but, yeah you can bail and go do whatever you like. Just jump into the main pit or go into the basement of the pawn guild when you want to do more rooms.

The purpose of the forgeries is to maintain the discount they give. Don't give the forgeries away for the quest.

No idea what triggered it then, but at one point I went to her store and some unknown lady told me that Madeleine got caught selling forbidden goods (iirc it's something to do with Salvation, even though she doesn't realize it. Possibly it's triggered by giving her the item that says that she favors, I think that was indeed some sort of magical token.). Anyways, after asking around you track her down out the back door and then when some guards show up you can lie and tell them you haven't seen her, in which case she takes off with much thanks to you and also asks for a 10k loan to start a new store "someday", which turns out to be in Cassardis during the post-game. Presumably if you turn her in that doesn't happen, although I didn't try it out.

e: Unrelated but: jesus christ that's where Ailenore's wants to go for her escort quest? That's a long rear end way. :stare:

I found it in an entirely different bandit (male) camp way down in the South Aernst Castle. You don't even have to fight them it's in a chest way, way up at the top of their ruins, took a little jumping to get to, luckily a pawn knew the way.

They do scale in strength, though you lack the ability to use skills (even core skills). You can make up for that with all those throwing items no one ever uses other then pawns. One of the reasons why I went assassin first, they have the highest attack gain and the highest stats boosting skills. Once I cap that, it'll be back to fighter for it's strength skill and then warrior where I'll completely lose the ability to block but have two +70% strength bonuses to work off of as well as the fighter stats boosting skills.

If you are thorough with your searching and make sure to keep checking the quest boards you should be swimming in money. I had 40,000+ before I entered the encampment and spent almost that much buying out the travelling merchant that you save from goblins right outside Cassardis.

If you are seriously hard up you can use the carrot exploit, where you buy as many carrots as you can, wait a few days for them to go moldy and then sell them at profit.
