SolidRed posted:I failed Chasing Shadows but was still able to do this quest which is different to the information being passed around online. It didn't become available to me until I had finished the Catacombs quest. Whether this quest unlocked it or it was simply a matter of leveling up/time passed I don't know. I believe I was level 19 when I got this quest. Looks like it's a time passed thing; I did another quest (visiting the northern garrison with Mercedes) and was just walking back in to Gran Soren when I read your post, checked Fournival Manor and he has moved from his dining room to the foyer, and was offering the quest. I'm level 33, so I don't think it's based on level/leveling up.

In regards to the Gold Idol, aside from giving it to one of the two merchants the DD wiki claims if you give it to Selena(someone in Witchwood. I have not been to Witchwood in my game since I pretty much went to the encampment straight to Gran Soren) and she will allow you to use it as a weapon? Has anyone done this? Is it worth it over giving it to a merchant for better loot?

Just smack people around for it? I've got the idol chilling in my storage so I'll go check it out later, but I really doubt there's anything to that. Sounds like someone's just trying to get people to give away their idols for kicks. That wiki is really lovely for a load of other reasons, besides.

If you turn the gold idol into a weapon then you can't use it on the gravestone in the second area of the witchwood to revive Aeris.

I just escaped the area under the Pawn Guild with the massive amounts of tentacles coming out of the ground. I managed to keep everyone alive, but gently caress! I really have to give it to this game. The sheer focus I had to give, the way I barely managed to keep everyone alive, the way I was running out of health stuffs. There was very real tension there. I can't remember the last time I had that kind of rush from a video game. Well done Capcom.

I just met the Duke for the first time, which quest is the next "close off stuff" one? I honestly can't tell and it's really annoying. I remember someone made a list earlier in the thread but since it moves at more than a page a day it's long gone. I really wish links to those were being edited into the OP or something.

All the "official" quests that you do on the Duke's behalf are the ones that move the story along, and finishing each set (first from maximillian, then two from aldous) cuts off quests that you can do before that. e: Here's Azraden's post about it: http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?action=showpost&postid=404146390&forumid=44 e2: Also, having 2-3 port crystals makes things go along super quick, so you should probably wait until NG+ if you're going for The Hero achievement. Unless you have a friend who can buy them and send them to you, or if you're like me and have started over multiple times but kept some of the items. I just brought it to her and she doesn't have a prompt to give it to her. As far as I know, giving things as gifts never does anything but raise affinity, and if someone actually wants something they ask for it. So I'm ready to call this bullshit, but to be fair there may be some other trigger for it. It just seems so unlikely to me.

How in the gently caress do you hit the spots on the Ur-Dragon's wings in offline mode? Climbing up there is impossible since anything other than Strider climbs at an inch per hour with the most awkward controls and camera placement, my bow hits it for such pitiful damage it'd take forever of constant fire to get it down a micrometer. They really need to fire the person who was in charge of the camera when you go in climbing mode. You should have free-reign 360 degree camera control and things that get in your way should go transparent, like it has been for the last 15 years.

Jimbot posted:How in the gently caress do you hit the spots on the Ur-Dragon's wings in offline mode? You can hit the weak spots from either side of the body part they are on, not just the side they appear on. So you can just shoot at its wings from the ground. Those spots are still a pain to hit, mind you, and VERY difficult if you don't have a bow (why don't you have a bow, scrub).

My bow was doing crap damage, so I wanted to see if I could get up there and do it manually, but it seems like you can't get up there. But seriously, the camera for climbing on the Ur-Dragon is goddamn atrocious. It's late 90's platformer bad. They really need to pull the camera back more and not lock it behind your character or make it stupidly rigid on huge monsters like that. It made that fight needlessly frustrating.

jimcunningham posted:If I want to try Arc of Deliverance, should I have another fighter/warrior to aggro? You don't necessarily need a fighter/warrior, but you'll want someone who can either stun a big enemy or keep them busy cause otherwise nothing's ever going to stay still long enough for you to hit them. You can use a mage/sorcerer who can get spells off, a warrior/fighter to distract/aggro, or a strider/ranger to climb or shoot the weak points.

While I circle-strafed with a bow she just followed me around constantly and did nothing in particular, aside from heal occasionally. It was really strange. (Edit: Now that I think about it, Freighter S. was completely useless too despite being a primary Scather) Got Assassin up to rank 6 and it's starting to get more interesting. Combining Instant Reset with Easy Kill basically lets me go right from attacking to slitting someone's throat, but unfortunately the damage on it isn't quite what I'd like it to be considering the stamina cost and the need to time it right. Is the upgraded version much better? Also, can you use it on anything besides bandits and skeletons? Owl Inspector fucked around with this message at 09:59 on Jun 4, 2012 |
