He meant going through the actual quarry by Gran Soren, but you haven't been there, it seems, especially if you're doing Mercedes' escort. If the drake moves that much, your best bet is to just wait for it to move back west again. I've never seen it leave its little patch of forest before, though.

Poor Mercedes, I think its the accent monsters don't like. I've been shaking my fist so much today that my wrist is starting to hurt. Reminds me of Dark Souls lol That Mercedes escort was the first one I tried and was definitely the most frustrating since I hadn't even seen the whole map in the OP and was just running into the fog blindly. I hit that chimera and every pack of bandits on the way there across several attempts, having to save after every little fight since I'd frequently "win" an encounter and then see Mercedes lying in the dirt. I would just follow the roads until you get past that forest with the chimera, and then you can cut straight up with only goblins and a couple saurians in the way unless you're unlucky. Run away from the drake if it's in the way and make a run northwest from there to the objective, as you'll avoid most of the goblins if you take the drake route, and if it isn't in the way then you can rest at the camp and slowly take the path with easier goblins and saurians. Once you get an escort finished to a certain location and have it mapped out, they're much easier after that.

I love how I go into the well in the starting town, and get my rear end handed to me by the saurians down there, like, all three of my pawns died in seconds and I ran. Now when I walk by my pawns are like 'is it smart to leave saurians down there?' uh dipshits, do you remember when you ALL DIED HORRIBLY down there?

I didn't see her again until I visited the duke.

How does armor work? Is there different chest pieces that some cover arms while others cover the chest? I ask that because when I am previewing them it seems that my base shirt hardly changes but my outfit will gain sleeves.

You have 1 slot for your head and arms, but your torso and legs have 2 slots each: clothing and armour. Which slot a piece of gear uses is indicated by an icon in the bottom right that says ARMOUR or CLOTHING.

blackguy32 posted:How does armor work? Is there different chest pieces that some cover arms while others cover the chest? There are "clothing" and "armor" which are separate things that can be layered on the same body part. Clothing is usually shirts and things, armor typically just covers specific things like chest, calves, hands, and whatnot. There isn't a clothing slot for some body parts like arms, so if you want sleeves for instance, you'll need a torso clothing that covers your arms. If I recall correctly, there is clothing for torso and legs and armor for everything else.

I'm in the post game and have been crossing off quests off that quest list as I get/do them and I'm missing like 50 notice board quests, so I think they're pretty random.

That's the best I can tell you, no idea what the full range of time to do it is.

Mercedes is supposed to be the hardcore fighter chick, and she die's real fast. I hope that doesn't mean the average peasant that wants to go to the shadow fort will be even weaker, lol.

Speaking of Mercedes, I'll be severely disappointed if one of the eventual DLC isn't a set of quests/adventures that take you to Hawthorne to see what Mercedes has been up to. It seems like such an obvious location/setting that I'd be really surprised if they didn't take advantage of what little backstory they established in the game.

My girlfriend was watching our cat rolling on the couch and said to me "I learned about beasts". I swear this game is making us crazy. BTW, just got to NG+ and was expecting a little more challenge. Not Diablo3 NG+ like, but I one shotted the first hydra with a light attack... oh well, still got lots of loot to find and quests to do!

My character has been physical based the whole time, fighter and warrior, now assassin. Caxton is now offering me swords that have somewhat less strength than my current one, but an elemental enchantment with magic damage. Are they worth using for me? I have no idea what the damage formulae in this game are like.

I've been finishing up the achievements for the game, and so far my favorite one is "The Captain". I've basically been enlisting all the pawns walking around in Gran Soren and immediately throwing them into Everfall. I highly recommend it.

They look neat, and you can upgrade them to be fairly decent for each stage of the game, but their final upgrades are INSANELY expensive material-wise and they'll never be the best weapons available to you by the time you can get the stuff to upgrade them.

I haven't seen this mentioned yet but yesterday when I was playing as a sorcerer and had a goons sorcerer pawn with a tip popped up saying pawns will notice when you are casting a long spell and if they mirror it you cast it faster :o It works too! Also, when the pawn was 1/2 way through casting his metorer spell, I started casting it and the cast bar immediatly went to 1/2 done. Thought that was a neat thing to add to the game. I wonder if it would go super fast with a party of 4 sorcerers.

Mason will give it to you. At that point in the game he's probably wandering around outside the Inn with a quest marker on his head If you've already done it, she's set up shop in the building you found her in in that quest. If not, I don't think she sets up shop until you either do the quest or the quest becomes unavailable due to getting too far ahead in the story. In case you've done it but forgotten where the building is, it's across the street from the Black Cat, the only building in that area you can enter.

Caxton is now offering me swords that have somewhat less strength than my current one, but an elemental enchantment with magic damage. Are they worth using for me? I have no idea what the damage formulae in this game are like. It's generally worth switching-- I think magic items have the same magic:damage conversion as strength:damage, so your weapon is technically a lot more powerful. The two main issues that comes up are that enemies elemental resistances fluctuate a lot more than their physical damage resistances, so if you have ice damage on a weapon and smacking a zombie or skeleton you'll be doing something like 80% of your sword's strength as piercing damage and 5% of your sword's magic stat as elemental damage. The other issue is that affinities and boons don't seem to play nice with elemental weapons and while you shouldn't lose any damage (since your pawn should be enchanting your poo poo with something the enemy is weak to, and have a higher magick stat) you'll gain a lot more with pure strength weapons.
