The Cheshire Cat posted:Technically can't you just kill Jasper to solve that quest? I honestly never even thought of that, since I automatically expected any quest-related NPC to just respawn. If it works and doesn't fail the quest instead, that's a fun shortcut.

I forged the duke's ring, now the fucker wont open the chest. Also regarding the same ring, do I have to give it to the Pawn I want it to take effect, or its a party thing? I really hate that Assassin doesnt get Implicate, Strider is so much more fun to play as, yet he doesnt get the sweet stat bonuses.

I've missed a few early quests because I have very little idea what I'm supposed to be doing. One to find some girl who went to the witchwood or something, another to pick flowers. Anything significant? Worth starting over? On one hand I wouldn't mind because I could invest in skills differently and probably start Strider instead of Fighter (prefer to end with Fighter, I think), but on the other I'd lose my faithful companion Running Bear.

I want to do the board mission to kill undead in the quarry, but I've already cleared it out and nothing seems to be spawning. Am I screwed on this? (want to get war bugles to turn in for another mission) Also are any of the ammo types worth it? In the course of unloading 100 oil arrows into a cyclops it caught fire maybe three times, and I've never seen an enemy become poisoned.

They mention that if you hadn't kicked them out they'd be dead.

Got the little girl escort quest. She stumbled on the way down to the fountain square. I tried to pick her up and put her on her feet. Little girl ran away, I got arrested. Quest failed. No golden idol for me. ... you know, gently caress you little girl, next time you stumble in New Game+ mode, I'm just walking on by, you can just walk yourself So - anyone game to hire GnomeChomsky and gift him a counterfeit golden idol? Shalinor posted:Got the little girl escort quest. Do a checkpoint retry, that'll take you to the last time you saved at the inn and you can start the whole day again. The terminology in the game is weird and confusing but there are 2 types of saves: Checkpoint save which is ONLY when you sleep, the 'retry at checkpoint' option when you die. Manual save, which is the 'retry' option when you die, what loads up when you start the game, what is saved when you 'save and quit to title screen'. The manual save slot is also the autosave you get occasionally, and the game also autosaves to this save slot when you rest at an inn too.

The terminology in the game is weird and confusing but there are 2 types of saves: When it happened, my last checkpoint save was back before I'd done the Catacombs quest. I'd finished that long loop, come all the way back, and instead of sleeping to save, I figured hey, what harm could there be in escorting a girl. Apparently - lots of harm. I just continued on, because eh, whatevs. It's just some missed items; I can't bring myself to care that overly much. This game already has plenty of side foppery to do, missing some of it is hardly notable.

Shalinor posted:Already too late for this. The good thing about the golden idol thing is that they're items that are unlocked anyway towards the end of the game and also found pretty commonly as loot in Barta Crags and Soulflayer Canyon. I've heard a lot of people bitching about that quest being so touchy and "now I'm locked out of these items!! " but I think Capcom made it so touchy because it's not really supposed to be something most people complete during the normal course of a game - it's a weird little easter eggy side quest thing to get early access to some end game gear.

I thought it would be neat to have multiple golden idols. So I created 2 additional PSN accounts (thanks gmail), friended them, and awarded my main pawn with golden idols. I'm up to 3 and wonder if I should get enough to give to all the gear vendors? Works with portcrystals too

Before I turned in my 20 wakestones for the finale, I had one last trek through the Everfall, and found myself in a room with a Gorechimera, a standard Chimera, a Wight and 5 Hellhounds, needless to say I thought I'd be dead pretty fast. However, the Chimeras spent much of the fight leaping around doing nothing, so once I took the Wight down, who was blasting everyone with magic it was over pretty quickly, Chimera's sure love to run though.

Also if you use the rift crystal merchant. It wipes all your saves. So if you accidentally buy 170 of the wrong potion you can't undo it. I've tested it by trying both "quit without saving" and "reload last checkpoint" They take you back to the vender after you've bought your stuff. So make doubly sure when buying from the rift vender
