That black squiggle under what is ostensibly Dirk's shades looks a lot like Cal's hat and head. Sideways, like Dirk's holding him under his arm and he's dressed up in Calmasis's suit. I can't really tell if there's supposed to be another figure there, so I'm going to go out on a limb and say that since Dirk will lose Cal today, that Cal becomes uu's new/old body, thus sort of his birthday.

If Jake and Dirk both can't be kiss-revived here (since Dirk's dream self is present and Jake doesn't have one any more), that means it'd be down to Jane kissing him anyway and lifey-thing powers saving him, or Jane's about to be the one to die. You know it'd be kind of funny if Jane died and Dirk hurried to kiss her first to keep Jake from doing it, but that's getting a little too deep into the relationship drama stuff. Hell maybe it's all a red herring and the dying and kissing has nothing to do with this particular scene.

I somehow managed to listen to the entirety of Vol. 9 on shuffle without hearing Requited until the very end. Jesus, Serenade was by far my favorite Vol. 8 song, and this rendition is an amazing improvement on it. The rest of Vol. 9 is wonderful, but  requited is good.

What if Dirk manages to get into the game, but dies during the process from the Red Miles ala Sollux? That way, Jane and Jake have another reason to get out of Derse ASAP so one of them can revive Dirk before his dreamself gets killed by DD. E: or it could be that nobody (expect maybe Dirk's dreamself) is going to die and the reason why he's talking to Dirk is so he can troll him with his reveal about UU's dreamself being dead and Red Miles, not because someone is going to die.

Okay just finished listening to the whole album. I have to agree with the people who said they didn't like this one quite as much as the last couple, but that's okay because I'm sure I'll love it more with more listens. I didn't like Universe B nearly as much as A at first but now it has some of my favourite songs on it (Orange Hat has been my most listened to song in itunes for aeons)! So. Lancer, for one, might be my favourite Homestuck song period. Also uu is the best artist everyone should just stop trying.

Battle against... - didn't someone have this as an avatar? Noirscape- Hussie please make Homestuck themed cards, thanks Dogfight- one of the few realistic depictions of both carapaces and dog-typing that I think looks good, great even! I'm not entirely certain we're just seeing more of the same on Derse, though. From the way the conversation flows I give better than 50/50 odds he's reacting to something different, which I assume is going to be Roxy floating drunkenly Derse-ward. As far as the album as a whole goes it has a pretty high proportion of filler but that's okay because it still has enough good tracks to do the main Homestuck volumes justice. Jake officially has all the best music now.

Personally, I am an avid listener of the violin and cello, as well as the piano. Hearing them blended in such ways as to complement each other perfectly is a rare feat, but I'd have to say that Candles and Clockwork definitely earns that honour. Moonsetter as well is a distinctly beautiful piece, and you can tell that they were performed, not done synthetically. In fact, I would venture that out of all the songs in Volume 9, the last ten outperform all others before them. All of the album is good, even the lackluster parts just whet your appetite for another song to completely annihilate your mind. I mean, I actually get shivers from the first part of A Taste For Adventure! That good of a song, man. This poo poo does not stop surpassing itself, it's like a dynamic creation specifically made to make me like it or something. And yes, Dogfight is amazing.

I am digging the hell out off this album. That part's a given. But right around seven minutes in for A Taste for Adventure, when you get both Showtime and Dissension? Now I'm just regretting that Hussie already used the song in a flash.

This album really is fantastic. Out of 51 songs, I only took 5 out of my playlist, and there's at least six instant-buy songs on there: Dogfight (ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE - easily the best), A Taste for Adventure (especially at ~3 minutes), Crystalmethequins, Three in the Morning, Candles and Clockwork (AMAZING), and Austin, Atlantis. But there's way more really good songs, too, and I'll probably be adding more to this list as I get familiar with all the others. Can't believe that something this big and good was only $11 bucks, too. I also recall Hussie saying once that there'd never be another album as big as Volume 5, but 8 and 9 are both pretty enormous and JAM-PACKED with awesome quality stuff!
