Elemental attacks/weapons only take your Magic into consideration, just like casting a spell itself. Warriors can deal massive amounts of physical damage and get a lot of good augments.

I've reached the post-game and I'm finding it ridiculously easy as a sorceror. None of the new stuff is challenging at all apart from the Ur-Dragon and my gameplay has basically become find a safe place to cast -> everything dies. I'm thinking of starting a new character, but I still like magic. How fun is mystic knight in how the skills work together? Is it more involved than sorceror without being terrible?

Booting them off the land makes the family able to write condemnations to find Fournival guilty when he goes on trial later. Also, you won't be able to get the quest that has a golden idol as a potential reward without first completing Land of Opportunity. You'll probably want to do it. Mystic knight is awesome. I've been rolling with 2 ranger pawns meleeing and countering the gently caress out of everything, probably the most involved play style I've used in the game. I think the way most people build them is focusing around sigils and magic cannons, however, which is much safer. A large issue with being a ripostey MK is that you pretty much need the perfect-block augment from rank 7 fighter and the rank 9 sorcerer augments are excellent, so if you want to be optimal you can't be a mystic knight for quite a while.

Would it be at all possible for someone to hire my pawn on 360 (GT: Siknas) and gift her a King's Bay Leaf? I didn't get to unlock the area in this game but was hoping to finish the board achievement this time through. I just need one and then I'll forge the rest. Unless someone knows of a place to get them that isn't blocked off, I guess.

Cutting way down on the amount of item redundancy, you really don't need 60 different items types to restore stamina. The world doesn't have enough ambient fluff to really use them well. At least Two Player COOP. Two players + 2 Pawns. More places to spend discipline points, in more interesting ways. More accessible fast travel, because every review whinged about this. Easier movement while clinging to a beast, make it screen relative perhaps. Still if there's some meaty, let's say Fallout 3/New Vegas sized DLC. They automatically have my money.

Is there a way to tell an escortee to flee, or at least stick close to you? I'm not sure if they follow pawn commands, but I just had to restart Madeleine's escort quest to the Bloodwater Beach(?) because as soon as we hit the beach Madeleine ran backwards, attracted the attention of the Cyclops and his bandit buddies, then insisted on loitering around the big guy's club regardless of what I ordered and what direction I ran in.

I have come to believe that I am horribly over-leveled for the point I am at in the game, because I've spent most of my time doing random sidequests and exploring for the sake of exploring. I'm in the low 30's and I haven't even finished those Wyrm Hunt quests yet. I'm glad I chose assassin as my vocation though. I was really disappointed with it at first, mostly because it took away ensnare and the rain of arrows skills from strider, but the later sword skills you get own. Powder blast is great for stripping armor/helms off of a cyclops, and clarity has been able to one shot everything I've encountered since I got it, except for large enemies. The night time buffs have made me no longer concerned about time of day for the most part, as well.

Heh, the first time I step out of Gran Soren in the post-game, I run into a drake, and my Dragon's Dogma becomes Dragonforged. The only things I've had trouble with were two Arch-hydras, but that's only because my hired mage pawn can't cast Fire Affinity and is so retarded she thinks that it's more important to spend ten seconds on a High Anodyne when I've only taken ten damage than cauterize the loving heads.

I'm getting really frustrated with this ballista thing. If I run over and clear all the goblins out first, it never fails that one of my pawns has already got on the ballista and started shooting at the cyclopes, which means I can't get on it and shoot out the other ballistas before they blow it up. If I run over and get on it before the pawns, they fart around and let goblins hit me in the back which knocks me off the ballista, then one of my loving pawns jumps on it and I'm back to the other scenario. Also it could just be because I've spent about 30 seconds total trying to use it, but I can't tell that I'm even making it shoot. I'm aiming at the bolts trying to hit them before they hit me, but either I just really suck and am missing them, or nothing is happening. I tried using comet shot to snipe the goblins off the other ballistas but they keep blowing me up and they're really hard to see in the dark. I'm going to try pecking at the cyclops before the ballistas get triggered, and see if killing them first makes any difference. It takes an eternity to take one down sniping at it but I've done it before. If my pawns would just shoot at the other ballistas this would be a breeze, but apparently a cyclops that can't even reach them is a bigger threat. I'm also going to have to sit in the stairwell and wait for daylight I guess, so I can at least see the goddamn ballista goblins to snipe them with my bow. The worst part is it takes so long to load back up every time I have to start over. I've spent more time waiting for the game to load than on my attempts.

Commanding them to "come" gets them off the ballista. So, down on the d-pad to get your pawns to stop cockblocking you. I mean, it takes them a while to dismount, but it's better than sitting there. So, yeah. gently caress Shadow Fort. Never mind that in the post-game, all of the guards gently caress off and it reverts to the exact same state it was before Fortress Besieged, except the door's open.

I mean, it takes them a while to dismount, but it's better than sitting there. Thanks for that! I killed both cyclopes, ran over and cleared out the goblins around the ballista, then called my dudes away so I could get on the ballista. Also I discovered that I had in fact NOT been shooting it (didn't notice the little R2 SHOOT cue at first, so I'd been switching bolts back and forth instead of actually releasing them) so I was finally able to start doing some damage with the stupid thing and that really helped a lot! I thought I'd taken out both ballistas, but turns out I'd only destroyed one and just killed the goblin firing the other one (still was kinda dark, I couldn't see much) so as soon as I hopped off, thinking I was done, one of the little twerp goblins starts shooting at me again and blew up my ballista. That was when I discovered I could shoot the bolts with my bow too, so that was fun for a little while until I finally killed that last goblin.

So yeah, I may be done. I just accidentally had my innkeeper die in an escort quest, and even after traveling around and sleeping at a far away in for 10 nights he's still not respawned. While I love the highs of this game there's just so much monotony and bad design wrapped up in it as well.

Still really early on in the game, I think, but having a ton of fun. Just retook the Shadow Fort and had my DD moment - came upon the fort at dusk, got to the courtyard, charged the door at midnight, fought all threw it as the sun slowly rised, and as we fought cyclops after cyclops, daylight finally breaking as we downed the last armored one, and fought the chieftain at morning. Felt loving dramatic as hell.

Actually I think that Shadow Fort quest is really a good indicator of the game in general. The quest itself is really cool, but the whole thing seems kind of cheap. From the small scale to the ridiculously crappy cheer the soldiers give at the end. I mean I know in a big game like this you have to spread the budget around, but this was supposed to be Capcom's most expensive game ever (unless I'm horribly misremembering the pre-release info) and it sure doesn't seem like it.
