For everyone having trouble with bandits, there is a simple thing to know that makes them a lot easier. Any fighter bandits (they'll have a shield) do far more damage and take a load more damage. Keep them crowd controlled somehow until they're last

Finally maxed vocation with ranger so i can mess around with whatever class i want now, may just do a couple more rounds with it for the stamina. Stockpiling DP and buying everything I missed. Just started playing this and drove myself nuts trying to make Pam from Archer as my pawn, all the level 5 pawns online suck donkey balls. Every single one is either a child, a really bland white dude, or a super model. My ideal second pawn would be a big fat mage with friar tuck hair. Or even just a Gandalf lookin' dude

So I finally hired Mercedes' Ranger, and I was confused at first, because she's not equipped with daggers. It took a moment to click before I realized that this means she's 100% reliant on her bow and will use that exclusively. And when I've already got a Fighter with Shield Summons, and me with backup daggers, I don't need a Ranger to do anything but bow stuff down. I wish pawns could be hybrid classes (they probably can't be because complicated AI attack patterns for all the weapon combos) so I could play with this concept more. I don't think taking away a Fighter's shield will revolutionize their combat.

I found a flaming sword and I'm curious how the weapon stats work. It has strength and magic, so does that mean it does physical and magical damage when I hit stuff with it? Dumb sounding question I know, but its making me want to switch to assassin.

I finally caught the tail end of the Ur-Dragon fight and got all of it dragonforged. If it isn't dragonforged it isn't getting put on my pawn, it's as simple as that. Me is center (based off of my Mass Effect's Shepard) and my pawn is to the immediate right. Wearing the same chest armor as I am until I finally find that assassin stuff in the Everfall.

Think i'm gonna play out the rest of the game as a fighter or warrior now. Started as fighter, think i maxed it then changed to warrior, maxed it and now i've maxed mystic knight. MK seems a bit lackluster for me, admittedly i'm using a hammer and not a staff because i'd prefer to just save the magic for another playthrough now that i'm so far along. Being able to enchant your own weapon's handy, you practically never need the shield when you've levelled far enough and great cannon's nothing great but again i've been melee not magic all game. Deliberately not bothered with casting/strider classes just because i figure i'll probably give this another play through at some point.

My romances were the best. In my first game I got Mercedes at the dragon and Asalam at the beach, and in my new game+ I got Aelinore at the dragon and Caxton at the beach. This game . If it had been the other way around the postgame would have been annoying as hell unless I just wanted to fight the Ur-Dragon all day (no sir).

You can pick the people you end up with, right? I gave Aelinore my Arisen band (because I thought I could piss off the Duke, no such luck-- actually locked me out of her quests...) and she was at the dragon, then in post-game I gave the band to Madeline and she was at the beach. Like... it's 100% controllable and not just random chance, right?

Some of them, like Selene and I think Aelinore have quests that pretty much max their affinity Witch Hunt and Duchess in Distress, respectively. At least this is how I understand it. E: Actually your pawns sometimes say something along the lines of "conversation is the heart of any bond" which supports that. vvvvv How much time did you spend in the postgame? Yeah, I'm pretty sure you're supposed to get the same person for both cutscenes, I think what happens is that the affinity rating is changing in the post-game which gives you a new partner. The game just looks at a number somewhere and goes "who has the most love points?--> puts that person into cutscene". I never did get the Arisen Bond, why do I have such a blind-spot about going to the drat Witchwood? Guess maybe I'll pick it up the next time through.

My sorcerer (sorceress) pawn is awesome. We were trekking in the woods, returning from the Soulflayer Canyon east entrance fort. I did not realize I need to be disguised as a woman to do things there. Anyway, we run into some wolves (I'm level 31). "THEY HATE FIRE!", she yells and the next thing I know, two very loving bewildered wolves are getting meteors rained down on them. Holy overkill!

Escorts might pop up again, not sure about that. The follow the guy quest definitely won't, failing it will probably lock you out of some quests and probably Madeleine won't ever set up shop. Neither is going to break your game or anything though as far as I know. Edit: does it game over you when it fails? I gave him plenty of room because I figure the game would be an rear end in a top hat about it. Because of this game's kind of odd saving system all I can recommend is to be very aware of when you last saved and always try to rest/save at an Inn before doing anything like that. If you, yourself die while escorting some dumbass to the rear end end of the world: Retry will take you to your last manual save; Restart from Checkpoint will take you back to the Inn which is probably what you'll need to do if your escortee kicks it. Since the game will autosave when a quest is completed or failed the second one is going to be your only option. It seems like they're trying to make your actions have consequences by making it hard to just reload to get a different quest result. It feels more cumbersome to me than it did in Dark Souls though, even though in that game it was constantly saving, and especially after you did virtually anything of import. Accidentally whack that Blacksmith with your sword? Permanently aggro to you! Kick that character off a ledge just to see what would happen? Dead forever, hope you didn't want any of the things she sells or do any of the (completely unmarked, unnamed and completely missable) quests for the entire rest of the game! There is a way to un-aggro someone, but if they're dead, they're dead. In DD you at least have the option of reverting to the last Inn or Riftstone's save, just keep that in mind when poo poo goes south. e: e: Forgot that Riftstones also count as checkpoints. a kitten fucked around with this message at 17:24 on Jun 18, 2012 |

At level 16, cannot seem to find a mage pawn that has healing spells so I am still running around with Rook from the start of the game. I did try and stay up on the ledge in the well, but the pawns jumped down by themselves. Am still on "A Troublesome Tome" and it was interesting to watch one dude on Youtube attack all the bandits in the castle you have to go to when you do not need to. I don't know how people are doing it in some videos, do they just grind on random monsters to look cool in the quests by beating things you are not meant to at that point? I swear someone will find a way to kill all the tentacles in the Everfall when you have to run out.

Riftstones are also checkpoints. I don't think people realize that. So if you come across one, you can use that as a checkpoint and it will also fully heal your pawns.

I'm having full on insane-o break downs here. I thought poo poo was like, everything coming together, I was kicking rear end, there were huge rad monsters to kill, I was about to slay a griffin! Holy poo poo! Then the Griffin flies away like 800 miles. Oh, that kinda sucks. Welp, I'm still pumped so I'm heading out, fight through a bunch of Dire wolves, that was pretty rad too. Then I pushed through the stupid tunnel-o-wind and before me rises this awesome looking purple golem thing. I start fighting it, but then a group of bandits decided to take me on. I get stunlocked by the golem and the bandits and die in like, 3 hits. Then I end up back at the loving town. I actually kinda like the journey aspect of the game, its a lot of fun. Sometimes. Right now I'm genuinely just, I really don't want to even bother hiking all that way again.

So why did the game go from being kind of hard to super easy once i started playing as a warrior, i went from having 3 fierce pawns to having one pawn with nothing but buff spells and i have been forced to remove most of my armour to make the game at least a bit challenging. I am at level 23 at the water god temple and everything dies in four or five hits and everything i have encountered out in the wild is even weaker, the game is awesome but the lack of challenge is off putting, i know from reading the thread that there are some really difficult areas but they seem to be in the minority, does the general difficulty on the game increase later on or should i start the game over and not use such a overpowered character? Bit of a shame since i really like playing as a two handed death machine, it's just that said death machine is a bit too efficient for his own good.
